Chapter 353: Chapter 200: Lu Yuan: I Don’t Have Any Domestic Violence Tendencies

Several days later, Su Liyan returned to the Zhao Mansion with Bengbeng.

Su Liyan’s father did not return to the Zhao Mansion with them. He felt that as an old man who could still get around on his own, he shouldn’t trouble his son-in-law. It was a matter of principle; having a son of his own, he couldn’t live at his son-in-law’s home.

Su Liyan had tried to persuade him at home for a long time, but seeing her stubborn father absolutely refuse, she had no choice but to give up.

So, Su Liyan’s mother didn’t come back with them either.

Su Liyan’s mother had originally planned to return to the Zhao Mansion with her daughter, but she couldn’t bear the thought of her husband staying all alone in their old home.

Therefore, Su Liyan’s mother also declined, saying she would stay home for a while before returning to the Zhao Mansion to help her daughter look after the child.

Su Liyan understood, of course. Though her parents had bickered their whole lives and never exchanged words of affection, when it came down to it, her mother still cared deeply for her stubborn, traditional father.

Having been away, Bengbeng hadn’t seen her father for a long time. She was especially affectionate this time, running toward Lu Yuan with her arms wide open.

Seeing his daughter’s enthusiasm, Lu Yuan quickly crouched down to welcome his little Princess.

Bengbeng took a flying leap and dove into Lu Yuan’s arms. "Daddy!"

"I’m here!" Lu Yuan answered cheerfully.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it was certainly true for his daughter. His sometimes-distant little girl had done a complete one-eighty in her attitude toward her daddy after returning home.

It almost left Lu Yuan at a loss. He planted a kiss on Bengbeng’s chubby little cheek.

Overjoyed, Lu Yuan picked Bengbeng up, held her with both hands, and tossed her into the air—a full meter high.

The sudden display gave Su Liyan a fright. She leaned forward uncontrollably, her hands outstretched as if to catch her.

Bengbeng fell, her little face right in front of Lu Yuan’s.

Just as she was about to hit the ground, Lu Yuan caught her securely.

Bengbeng shrieked with delight. "That was fun! Again!"

Adults had played this "lift-off" game with Lu Yuan when he was a child, too, though never this high—they’d only tossed him a dozen centimeters or so.

It was a good thing Bengbeng was so sturdy. Any ordinary child thrown like that would probably have been shaken to pieces.

Seeing this, Su Liyan patted her heaving chest and said, "Dear, you scared me half to death."

Holding his daughter, Lu Yuan said, "I’m just playing with our little treasure, aren’t I?"

Bengbeng wriggled in her daddy’s arms, coaxing, "More! That was fun!"

At her request, Lu Yuan tossed her several more times in a row, catching her securely each time.

When Su Liyan decided they had played enough, she interrupted their roughhousing.

Su Liyan said to her daughter, "Bengbeng is the most polite girl, isn’t she?"

"Mhm!"

"Then since we just got back, shouldn’t we go say hello to Second Mother and Third Mother?"

"Second Mother" and "Third Mother" referred to Zhao Qiao’Er and Song Meiqin.

Some time ago, after Bengbeng had learned to talk, everyone had puzzled over these titles.

After all, their relationships were a bit messy. Lu Yuan’s two former "aunts" were now his concubines.

Lu Yuan had simply gotten used to calling them "Aunt," and since no one else minded, they had all stuck with the old form of address.

But now that Lu Yuan had a daughter, she couldn’t very well call them "Great-Aunt." In the end, Lu Yuan made the decision: she would call them "Second Mother" and "Third Mother."

That made Su Liyan the "First Mother" to Huanhuan.

So the young Su Liyan had become a child’s "First Mother," a title that made her feel old.

Su Liyan had often complained playfully to Lu Yuan about it. After all, even though she was no longer a pure maiden, she was still just in her early twenties.

But there was nothing to be done. Su Liyan was the official principal wife, married through proper ceremony. And while the two former "aunts" were older than her, Su Liyan’s status in the family was higher.

Besides, the two of them didn’t mind in the slightest; they were perfectly willing to accept their lower status.

Hearing her mother, Bengbeng nodded vigorously and said, "I have good manners!"

Su Liyan stroked her daughter’s head, encouraging her. "That’s my wonderful girl! Can you go find Second Mother and Third Mother in their rooms all by yourself?"

"I can!" Bengbeng declared, then turned and left without a backward glance.

Once her daughter was out of earshot, Su Liyan took Lu Yuan’s arm. "Dear, there’s something I have to tell you."

Lu Yuan led Su Liyan toward his room, asking as they walked, "Honey, is something wrong?"

Su Liyan blinked. "No, Dear. I know you won’t mind, so I’ll just come right out and say it."

"Go on, honey. Speak freely."

"Dear... our daughter has undergone atavism!" Su Liyan paused. This was not something she wanted to hide from him.

Lu Yuan, of course, didn’t mind such things; he wasn’t bound by worldly conventions.

Lu Yuan had expected that Bengbeng might experience atavism, but he had never thought it would happen so soon.

Atavism was like acne; it was supposed to appear only after the body had developed to a certain point.

Most members of the Half-demon Race who experienced atavism only did so upon reaching adulthood.

There were also those who never experienced it, growing up to be indistinguishable from ordinary people.

Su Liyan’s atavism had come early, while Su Changliang’s had come late.

Su Liyan had simply assumed it was because girls developed earlier than boys.

But that didn’t explain Bengbeng. Surely she wasn’t already fully developed?

Of course, that wasn’t it.

As Lu Yuan listened to his wife’s account, his heart tightened. "What happened to our daughter then?"

"My mother and I managed to suppress the violent energy inside her," Su Liyan said, caressing his hand to soothe him. "Dear, she hasn’t seen her own tail. She has no idea what happened."

Lu Yuan thought for a moment. "Let’s not tell her about this for now," he said. "The energy inside her is too powerful. We’ll have to watch her closely from now on and make sure nothing agitates her."
