Chapter 95: Chapter 95: You’re Not Welcome in Our Home

She looked at the adorable Ian and asked, "Why are you touching me like this?"

Ian said with concern, "My dad said you were sick and told me not to bother you! I’m seeing if you have a fever."

He looked so serious as he spoke. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

His voice was innocent.

His pronunciation wasn’t yet perfect.

But it was enough to melt your heart!

Anne Sutton ruffled his hair. "I’m fine."

Ian said, "I’m glad you’re okay! Thank you for coming to my birthday party, Auntie. I’m so happy."

Anne Sutton gazed at him. Today was supposed to be the anniversary of her own child’s death.

In previous years, this day had always been the one that brought her the most sorrow.

But now, looking at Ian, she felt as if she were being healed by this little angel.

Ian stayed with Anne Sutton until she finished eating, then he went out.

Anne Sutton needed to change, and Ian had to get ready as well.

After changing, she came downstairs and saw Ian standing there, with two older children in front of him.

The two boys looked to be about three years older than Ian.

But their words were vicious. "My mom said you’re just a little bastard. Your own mother doesn’t want you!"

Ian was obviously upset. "Who said that? My mom’s just busy with work."

"What kind of mom is so busy with work she doesn’t want her kid? She just doesn’t want you! You’re a baby nobody wants."

Even though they were just kids, their words made Anne Sutton furious. She hurried down the stairs, calling out, "Ian!"

Once downstairs, she shot a harsh glare at the two malicious children, especially the chubby one who had just said the cruelest things.

"What nonsense are you talking? Is this what your parents teach you at home? Who told you Ian doesn’t have a mother?"

The chubby boy retorted defiantly, "That’s what my mom says! So what? He doesn’t have a mom."

The little guy had no idea how hurtful his words were.

Anne Sutton looked at him, so furious she reached out and pinched his chubby little cheek. "Let me tell you something," she said fiercely. "Don’t you dare bully Ian just because he’s small. If I catch you bullying him again, you’ll have to answer to me!"

’If someone bullied my son like this, I’d really lose it.’

’If other parents won’t discipline their kids, I’ll just have to do it myself!’

The pinch hurt, and the chubby boy burst into tears with a loud "WAAAH!"

A moment later, a stout woman hurried over. "Donny? What’s wrong?"

Seeing his backup, Chubby scrambled to his mother’s side and pointed at Anne Sutton. "This mean lady bullied me! She pinched me."

The stout woman shot Anne a look and began to rage. "Who the hell do you think you are, daring to pinch my son! Look at his soft cheek, you’ve pinched it all red!"

Anne Sutton said, "He was bullying Ian. If you can’t discipline your own son, am I not allowed to teach him a lesson?"

The chubby boy retorted, unconvinced, "But Ian *is* a kid with no mom! Right, Mom?"

He looked at his mother. Clearly, this wasn’t the first time he’d heard her say such things.

The stout woman’s expression froze.

She only dared to say such things in the privacy of her own home; she would never dare repeat them out here.

She just never imagined her son would remember her words and repeat them here of all places.

She was embarrassed for a moment, but then she relaxed. The person in front of her was just Anne Sutton, not Ethan Linden. ’What do I have to be afraid of?’

She glanced at Anne Sutton. "And who are you? This is just kids squabbling. What business does an adult like you have sticking your nose in?"

Hearing her dismiss it as "squabbling," Anne Sutton grew even more irritated.

’So many parents are like this nowadays,’ she thought. ’They think their kids are still little, so they let them get away with bullying others.’

’But they don’t realize that’s exactly what turns these kids into such obnoxious brats.’

Anne Sutton said, "I was just ’squabbling’ with him, too. Why are you in such a rush, ma’am? Why don’t you take him to the hospital for an examination? I’ll cover the medical bills!"

"You..." The stout woman’s eyes raked over Anne Sutton. Anne was dressed casually, not in any designer brands.

She didn’t look like anyone from the Linden Family, so she relaxed and said, "You must be the new maid, right? Another one Ethan Linden hired to take care of Ian! Well... a child like Ian, with no mother to love him and a father who’s always busy, can only grow up with maids."

Anne Sutton said, "Who I am is not important. What’s important is the attitude you and your son have towards Ian. Do you not care if this is reported to Ian’s father?"

Hearing her threat to tell on them, the stout woman’s face stiffened before she snapped angrily, "What did our Donny say? He and Ian are good friends, he’s always so nice to Ian! We’re all family! Ian’s father has to call me Second Sister-in-law! This is our family’s business. Since when does a maid have the right to speak? I think you’re just trying to stir up trouble! I’m going to tell Butler Walters to fire an irresponsible maid like you! This is infuriating!"

Just as she finished speaking, Nathan Fawcett came walking down the stairs with Butler Walters by his side. "What’s going on?" Nathan Fawcett asked.

The stout woman looked up, saw Nathan Fawcett, and smiled. "Ethan, you’re here! I was just looking for you! Look at this maid you have in your house. Even if you’re hiring someone to take care of Ian, you should at least find someone with good character, right?"

Nathan Fawcett glanced at Anne Sutton.

Butler Walters came down and said to the stout woman, "Second Mistress, why have you come so early?"

The stout woman said, "Isn’t it Ian’s birthday? I was afraid he’d be bored at home alone, so I brought Donny and my sister’s son, Xiaohu, over early to play with him. Who knew this woman would actually pinch my son!"

The red mark from Anne’s pinch was still visible on the chubby boy’s face.

Nathan Fawcett walked over and stopped beside Anne Sutton.

Anne Sutton had no intention of losing this fight. She wasn’t about to let this crazy woman run her mouth. "It was her son who was bullying Ian, saying Ian was a child with no mother. That’s why I acted," she explained. "Ian is so young, and those two are so much older than him. I just happened to see it today. Who knows how they bully Ian when I’m not around!"

Hearing Anne Sutton say this, the stout woman refused to admit it. "It was just kids squabbling, don’t try to stir up trouble here. Ethan, you know our Donny is a good boy. We’re all family, why would we bully Ian! On the contrary, this woman, she’s been stirring up trouble from the moment she arrived. You should fire someone like her!"

Ian, who had been standing to the side, glanced at Anne Sutton, took her hand, and said to Nathan Fawcett, "Dad, what Auntie said is all true."

The stout woman said hurriedly, "Ethan, Ian is still little. You can’t take a child’s words seriously."

Nathan Fawcett said, "So a child’s words can’t be taken seriously, but yours can? You’re not welcome in our home. Don’t come back."
