Chapter 166: Chapter 166: The Prescott Family’s New House

The assistant looked at Anne Sutton. "Are you heading out now?"

Anne Sutton nodded. "Yeah. I don’t have anything this afternoon, right? Just call me if anything comes up."

Actually, today was supposed to be her day off.

But with nothing else to do, she had come in anyway and been busy until now.

The work at the hospital seemed to never end.

The assistant nodded. "Okay."

Just as Anne Sutton was leaving, the butler arrived. Seeing the assistant eating Anne’s lunch, he asked, "Where is Dr. Sutton?"

"She had something to do, so she left."

The butler was at a loss for words.

He returned to the hospital room to find Nathan Fawcett feeding Ian.

Nathan Fawcett asked, "How was it? Did she like the food?"

The butler replied, "She gave her lunch to her assistant."

Nathan Fawcett fell silent.

He glared at the butler, suspecting Anne Sutton was doing this on purpose to get back at him.

The butler coughed and explained on Anne’s behalf, "She had something to attend to and has already left. She’s not at the hospital anymore. She probably didn’t have time."

"Where did she go?" Nathan Fawcett demanded.

The butler answered meekly, "I don’t know."

Ian, who was sitting to the side, looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "Daddy, this soup isn’t as good as Anne’s."

He had woken up last night and had some of the soup Anne Sutton had made, but unfortunately, there was only a little bit left.

The soup he was drinking now was one Nathan Fawcett had someone else deliver.

Nathan Fawcett looked at Ian and said, "She’s busy."

"Then call her and ask when she can cook for me! She promised she would make me food once I get better."

"But you’re not better yet, are you?"

’I send her flowers, she gives them away. I send her food, and she gives that away too.’

Nathan Fawcett was thoroughly annoyed.

Ian pouted.

The butler stood to the side, silently wiping sweat from his brow as he glanced at Nathan Fawcett.

In truth, the soup Anne Sutton had brought over last night had been more than enough for Ian.

But as it turned out...

Before Ian woke up, Nathan Fawcett had already drunk most of it. It was generous of him to have left even a single mouthful for his son.

...

After leaving the hospital, Anne Sutton went to the hospital where her mother was a patient.

The two hospitals weren’t very far apart.

Today, Sharon was at the hospital taking care of Mrs. Sutton.

Seeing Anne Sutton walk in, Sharon Sutton said, "Sis, you’re here."

"How’s Mom today?" Anne looked at her mother.

Mrs. Sutton, who was sitting nearby, said, "I’m fine."

Sharon Sutton asked nervously, "What about Dad? Did you talk to him?"

She had been waiting for news from Anne Sutton all day yesterday, but Anne never replied.

Anne said, "I told him. He said you can go get your marriage license."

Sharon Sutton was surprised to hear this. "He didn’t get angry? He didn’t say anything else?"

"No."

Although Sean Sutton wasn’t happy about it, Anne had something on him now, so he couldn’t afford to object.

Sharon said, "How could that be? Dad should be furious! He didn’t even call to yell at me. This is so strange."

"Just do what you want to do. Does his opinion matter?" Anne said. "You’re an adult now. You can make your own decisions."

When she thought about the kind of father she had, Anne wished he had never existed.

Hearing Anne’s words, Sharon Sutton looked at her in surprise. "Sis, did you argue with Dad? It wasn’t because of me, was it?"

Anne ignored Sharon’s question, glanced at her mother, and sat down. She took the bowl from Sharon’s hands to feed their mother herself.

Mrs. Sutton looked at her. "I can eat by myself."

"Mom," Anne said, "let me transfer you to my hospital."

Her mother staying at this hospital was inconvenient, not to mention her condition wasn’t improving.

Transferring her to the First Hospital would offer more hope.

However, resources at the First Hospital were always tight. Without connections, you couldn’t even get on the waiting list.

This was why her mother had been staying here all this time.

However...

Anne had already made up her mind. She would find a way to handle it.

’Dad is so unreliable, and he’s done such outrageous things. I can’t count on him at all! He’s probably just itching for Mom to pass away so he can move his mistress into our home.’

Anne would never give him that chance.

Mrs. Sutton said, "I’m perfectly fine here."

"If you’re here, I have to come over after work every day, which is a hassle. If you’re at my hospital, I can look after you anytime."

Mrs. Sutton asked, "Won’t it interfere with your work?"

"It won’t," Anne said. "If you agree, I’ll make all the arrangements."

Mrs. Sutton looked at Anne. "You should tell your father."

"Why do we have to ask him about everything?" Anne retorted. "Can’t we make our own decisions about our own lives?"

Seeing how confrontational Anne became at the mere mention of Sean Sutton, Mrs. Sutton said, "Anne, dear, he is your father, after all. You can always talk things through. Don’t be angry with him. What kind of daughter stays angry at her own father?"

"He certainly doesn’t act like our father when he does these things." Anne looked at her mother defending him and said, "Mom, you don’t have to defend him at every turn."

’I can let other things slide. In the past, even with my own problems, I never forced Mom to take my side. But I just can’t stand by and watch what Dad is doing now. Thank goodness Mom doesn’t know. A woman like her, who values her husband above all else, would have a complete breakdown if she found out what he was up to!’

Mrs. Sutton said to Anne, "You and your father are always like this."

Anne replied, "Well, don’t go thinking he’s some great person. Maybe he never even cared about me as a daughter, or he wouldn’t have done what he did back then."

Sharon Sutton stood to the side, looking at Anne, not daring to speak.

She quietly slipped out to call David Hayes.

Now that her family had agreed to let them get their marriage license, of course, she had to tell him right away.

...

Sean Sutton didn’t go to the hospital today. Instead, he went to the Prescott Family’s home.

After Miles Prescott and Charles Prescott moved out of the Fawcett Family’s residence, they had bought a house of their own.

This was Sean Sutton’s first time visiting.

The house wasn’t small, but it was still a step down from the Fawcett Residence.

The Fawcett Residence was an old mansion that Master Fawcett had gotten lucky with, buying it for two hundred million. It was the ancestral home of a very famous historical figure.

You couldn’t find a house that large anymore these days.

Sean Sutton was sitting on the sofa when Leo walked over, waving a toy Jingu Bang in front of him.

Not daring to offend the boy, Sean Sutton smiled and asked, "Leo, where’s your daddy?"

"Daddy’s upstairs." Leo held the Jingu Bang so close it almost poked Sean in the forehead, forcing him to dodge.

The maids stood by, not daring to intervene. After all, once Leo started crying, none of them could console him.

Mrs. Prescott came down from upstairs. Seeing Sean Sutton there, her face fell. "It’s you!"

Although she didn’t visit often, she still recognized him as Anne Sutton’s father.
