Chapter 93: Chapter 93

Kane POV

“What the fuck are you doing?” I snarl, my eyes fixated on Dad’s arm around Katie’s neck, and his other hand digging into her arm.

“Let me go!” Katie screams, elbowing Father in the gut. He loses his grip around her neck, but he swings her around by the arm and slaps her across the cheek.

“You fucker!” I roar, diving forward. I put my hands around his neck and slammed him into the wall.

“Axel,” I shout, not taking my eyes off Dad. “Is Katie okay?”

“I’m fine,” she replies, and I look over my shoulder. Her neck and arm are red and angry where he squeezed them. It does not matter that Katie can shift and heal. He was not supposed to touch her in the first place.

“What did you do to her?” I look back at Dad, spit flying into his face. “WHAT did you do?”

“Nothing,” Dad croaks, his fingers digging into my hands. “But I was about to teach her not to hit your elders when you arrived.”

“Katie, did you hit him?” Axel asks.

“Only after he abducted me,” she argues. “I was trying to escape.”

“Were you successful?” Axel sounds surprised.

“A couple of times,” she mumbles.

“You’re losing your touch, old man,” I sneer in his face. “You got beaten by a little girl, an Omega no less.”

“How the fuck did you hear her in the East Wing?” Father croaks, his fingers digging into my hands.

That is a fucking good question, but for another day. Now, I must figure out what is going on here.

“That’s your concern?” I tighten my grip until his eyes start bulging.

“You wouldn’t understand,” he wheezes out a weak laugh. “You don’t understand any of this.”

I pull Father back from the wall, then slam him into it again. He grunts in pain, but the sinister smile never leaves his face.

“I know what you did to Gregory and Lucas’s mates,” I scream into his face. “They told me everything.”

“They’re dumb, violent liars,” he chokes, his face rapidly reddens.

“No,” I spit. “I think that’s you.”

“Kane,” Axel says. “You’re choking him. He can’t breathe.”

His face is turning purple now, but I do not let go. Not until he tells me everything.

“I swear to the goddess, old man,” I hiss in his face. “I will kill you if you don’t tell me the truth right now.”

Father stares at me with blank eyes, wheezing for air, but he does not attempt to say anything or free himself. With a growl, I release him, and he slides down the wall to the ground.

“You’re too emotional,” Father says, laughing wheezily. “You’re not focused. Or maybe the Alpha title never should’ve been yours to begin with.”

Hunter rears up inside me, dangerously close to breaking through the surface. But what good would attacking him do? His lies ran so deep at this point, I had no idea what he was capable of.

“What the fuck happened to you?” I ask, looking at him with disgust. Father and I had never been close, but I never once thought he was this much of a monster.

“Go to your quarters, Katie,” I order her over my shoulder. I do not want her here anymore. Not until I could get rid of him.

“Lock the door from the inside, and don’t come out until I say so, okay?” I turn around to look at her.

“Just a minute,” she says, stepping forward and kicking Dad so hard in the balls that my nuts hurt. Dad groans, curling into a ball and clutching his crown jewels.

“Now I’m done,” she nods, turns around and leaves.

“And you,” I squat down, shoving my finger in Father’s face. “You can’t be here anymore. Go stay in your hunting lodge or your apartment or wherever the fuck. You’re not welcome in this mansion anymore.”

I expect him to laugh or argue or spring up and punch me in the face. Axel is standing in a warrior stance behind me, prepared for it all. But to our surprise, he rises slowly and nods.

“Fine,” he huffs. “You won’t see me here again.”

Katie POV fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Rage rushes through me as I leave the room. What the fuck is wrong with that man? I have not done anything to him. I have not even met him before.

I know what you are.

The words whirl and reply in my mind. What the fuck did that mean?

I am so infuriated, I can barely see in front of me. I round a corner and nearly plough into Gabriela, carrying Stella.

As soon as I see my baby, reality sets in, and I feel tears stinging my eyes. What would have happened to Stella if that bastard had been successful with whatever he was trying to do?

“Dear heavens, child!” Gabriela exclaims. “What happened?”

“Please,” I beg, reaching out to take Stella. “I need her.”

“Katie, you’re in no condition to hold a feather, let alone a baby,” she replies firmly.

I have no idea how to tell her. So, I just shake my head. freewebnovel.cσ๓

“You should talk to your sons,” I croak, avoiding eye contact as I take my baby, turn around and walk to my room.

I release a sigh of relief when I lock the door behind me. What a fucked up day!

I hold Stella close to my chest and inhale her scent deeply until I am calm and my anger subsides. I rock Stella until she is asleep before I lay her in the bassinette.

I strip down and get into the shower, allowing the hot water to wash off this awful, awful day.

It is only when I climb into bed that I notice a note on my pillow.

I’ve gone to Stillwood to think. I’ll be back soon. - M

“What-the-fuck-ever,” I mumble, tossing the note aside and digging into the pillows. Like I give a rat’s ass about his thoughts. He showed me his true self today, and I will not forgive him anytime soon for what he has said to me.

At least something good came from this day, I realise as I close my eyes. I met Braden, who holds the key to my past. I cannot wait to see him tomorrow.
