Chapter 126: Chapter 126
Elara POV
The closer Malachi and I get to the cabin, the thicker the atmosphere becomes. Did they argue again? Goddess, I hope not. We were so close to getting along. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
“I said no, Kane,” Braden hisses. “You’re not erecting a false wall in the living area.”
“But it’s for the children,” Kane reasons. “It’s not healthy for them to be subjected to all of us all the time.”
“You mean me, don’t you?” Mason snaps, glaring at Kane. “Why don’t you just come out and say it. You don’t want a rogue to touch your precious children.”
“That’s not what I’ve said,” Kane argues. “And will you please stop with the pity party?”
“Yeah,” Axel chimes in. “I told you that already when you ran away like a child.”
“Put down that hammer, Kane, or I’m going to fucking kill you,” Braden shouts. “I plan on living here again someday, but I can’t if you and Axel demolish it.”
“What the hell is all this?” Malachi calls everyone to order.
“This place needs to be soundproofed,” Kane explains. “The kids need quiet and sleep.”
“Braden can tear the wood down when we leave,” Axel backs up Kane.
“Oh, come on,” I roll my eyes. “And that justifies a bloodbath? Why can’t you discuss it like adults?”
“I agree,” Malachi says. “If anything, you’re the children, and not the babies.”
Kane opens his mouth, then closes it again. He looks at Axel, and his lips pull into a tight line. Mason looks annoyed, but even he has nothing to say to that.
“Now, Braden and I have more news to gather,” Malachi says, clapping his hands together. “We’ll return soon, and this time, we better not see anyone out of bounds.”
Malachi quickly hugs me, turns around and sweeps out of the cabin. Braden yanks the hammer out of Kane’s hand before he can protest and follows Malachi.
“Where the fuck do they get off bossing us around like that?” Kane grumbles.
“Yeah,” Mason agrees. “We’re alphas. He can’t tell us what to do.”
“Since when are you an alpha?” Axel growls.
“Since birth,” Mason replies airily. “The same man impregnated our mothers.”
“Enough!” I snap. “All of you, go outside and wrestle it out or something. I don’t care if you kill each other. I’m going to take a shower, and you three better be all about brotherly love when I’m done.”
I march towards the bathroom and turn on the water as hot as I can stand, letting it scald my skin.
This entire situation is ridiculous. Orion is out there, trying to steal my baby to build an army of unkillable wolves, and we cannot keep the peace for three seconds in this house.
And the worst part? I am to blame. It is sexual tension because of my heat, and it is only going to get worse. My heat cycle is starting, and everyone is acting psychotic.
I can satisfy my mates’ needs, but what about Mason? There is already so much friction between them, and my heat is added fuel to the fire. For our children’s sake, we cannot leave, but how are we going to survive this?
I turn off the water and step out of the shower, slinging a towel around myself. In the short, narrow hallway, bump into Mason.
“Oh, sorry,” I say as he grabs my arms to steady me, but he does not let go. Instead, he steers me backwards until I am pressed against the wall. He plants his hands against the wall on either side of me, caging me in.
“Wh ... where is everyone?” I whisper.
“Outside,” He replies with a low and raspy voice. “I’m sorry, Elara. I know I’ve been a huge asshole, but it’s just because I can’t stand not being close to you. I can’t stand not touching you.”
My heart pounds in my ears, but instead of getting myself out of this predicament, my heat takes over and I stare at him in anticipation.
Mason’s nostrils flare, and he presses himself against me, groaning into my ear. His hard erection twitching against my stomach.
“I need you, Elara,” he leans down and nips at my neck. “I’m starving for you.”
“How many times is this going to happen before I have to kill you?” Kane’s rough, manic voice echoes in the room, and I push Mason away.
“Whoa, what is this?” Axel asks.
The three men growl at one another, clenching their fists, and I notice their wolves flashing in their eyes.
Shit! I must stop this.
“Guys, enough!” I shout, jumping in the middle. “Take a step back and breathe. You’re losing it because ...”
I trail off and scratch my neck awkwardly. Dammit, why is it so hard to admit the truth?
“Because what?” Axel growls, all of them looking expectantly at me.
“I’m in heat again,” I sigh, wrapping the towel tighter around myself.
“Oh, damn,” Kane looks at me with shock. “That’s why we’re bickering like children, and crazy with lust. It is turning all of us into actual animals.”
“I’m really sorry,” I apologise profusely. “It’s not my choice, and if I could fix it, I would’ve.”
“No,” Mason presses his lips into a thin line, shaking his head. “Hell, no! I can’t stay here. I can’t.”
“Mason, you can’t leave!” I shout as he turns around and walks to the door. “If you do, you’re putting all of us in danger.”
“I’m sorry,” he shakes his head. “I can’t stay here, it’s too hard being around you.”
“Kane, Axel,” I look at them, panicky. “Stop him.”
They launch towards Mason and tackle him to the floor. Mason fights and squirms to break free.
“Dammit,” I mumble when they knock over a vase and it crashes on the floor.
I run towards the struggling men, fighting my way through arms and legs until I find Mason’s face. I lean over and kiss him. He struggles a second longer before relaxing.
“Elara, what are you doing?” Kane croaks, and I can hear the pain in his voice, but Mason’s arms are like steel clamps around my waist.
I redirect his face to my neck, and I cradle his head as I look at Kane and Axel. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
“I did what needed to be done,” I say. “If we don’t take care of this tension, you’ll rip each other’s heads off.”
“But ...?”
“We don’t have time to argue,” I cut off Axel’s protest. “Mason’s wolf is in control, and by the look in your eyes and the bulge in your pants, you’re not far behind. So, get naked, now.”
