Chapter 106: Chapter 106
Elara POV
“You bastard!” I explode, stepping towards Mason, releasing my pent-up anger, and punching him right on the nose. “You cheated on me.”
“Katie, what the fuck?” Mason shouts, grabbing his bleeding nose. “I never ...”
“You did!” I yell. “My memory is back, and my name is Elara. You cheated on me with Alice.” ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Beside myself with anger and disappointment, I kick him in his groin, and with a groan, he curls into a bundle on the floor.
“Katie, please,” he moans, and I get ready to kick him again, but Kane grabs me by the waist and lifts me into the air.
“Let me go!” I kick at nothing as he turns me around and places me on the kitchen table.
I want to jump off, but Kane blocks my way. He is so close, I can feel his body heat.
“Elara, look at me,” he orders, and I reluctantly obey. “You know I’m not Mason’s biggest fan, but he obviously doesn’t know what’s going on. So, use your words, not your fists.”
“What the hell is going on here?” Isolde storms into the kitchen at the same time as Braden comes in from the outside.
“I’m trying to kill him,” I shout, glaring at Mason.
“Not that,” Braden frowns.
“That!” Braden points through the window.
“What?” Kane looks outside, and I stretch my neck to have a look, but I do not see anything.
“The wind!” Isolde snaps.
“Have you never heard of Mother Nature?” Kane rolls his eyes.
“It’s you,” Braden starts laughing, pointing at me.
“Me?” My voice climbs an octave. “What have I done besides kicking his ass.”
“It’s your vampire side,” Braden says, looking at the trees doubling over in awe. “You’re gifted with an element. Wind, to be specific.”
“I don’t ...”
“Elara,” Braden cuts me off and walks closer. “Close your eyes, take deep breaths and think about Stella.”
“But ...”
“Humour, please,” he demands. “Before you conjure a tornado.”
“Fine,” I grunt, close my eyes, and inhale deeply.
“That’s it,” Braden encourages me, and I can hear the excitement in his voice. “Keep going.”
I do not understand the point of the exercise, but I do as I am told.
“Extraordinary,” Braden claps his hands, and I open my eyes.
“Look,” he points to the window. “No more wind.”
Flabbergasted, I look at Braden. I have no idea what is going on.
“What are you doing back here?” Gabriela enters the kitchen, glaring at Braden.
“Okay, okay,” Braden holds up his hands. “I’ll go. Elara, we’ll talk about this soon. I promise.”
“Wait!” I call, but he is out the door and gone.
Mason POV
I pull myself from the floor and scoot backwards until I have my back against the wall. I look intensely at Katie. My sweet, beautiful Katie is Elara. I bow my head and close my eyes as my heart shatters.
I deserved this beating, but what hurts the most is the realisation that I have lost her. Fuck. My heart sinks further and further into my stomach. Not only does she remember her mates, but she remembers my betrayal.
Braden slams the door shut behind him and pulls me away from my thoughts.
“You can control nature?” Kane asks in awe.
“Apparently,” she shrugs.
“Can we please discuss Elara’s powers at a later stage, and talk about the bleeding wolf in the corner?” Gabriela sneers, crossing her arms.
“You!” Kane points at me. “You tried to steal our mate.”
“You can’t blame him for that,” Elara surprises me when she chips in. “He didn’t know, but you can blame him for fucking Alice while he was dating me.”
“Exactly,” I jump up, my claws ripping from my hands, and my canines breaking through my gums. “She was mine before she was mated to you.”
“Fuck you, Mason,” Elara intervenes, jumps off the table and stands between me and Kane. “I was never yours. I wanted to be, but you fucked it up by cheating on me.”
“And you know I feel terrible about it,” I defend myself. “I told you so before I knew who you were, so you know I’m not lying. I am genuinely sorry about it.”
“Mason, it’s over,” Elara shakes her head. “It’s too late.”
“Elara, I’m sorry,” I apologise softly, trying to salvage the situation. “I’m not asking for anything but to believe me. Please.”
Elara stares at me, but I notice a glimpse of sympathy before she lowers her gaze.
“I think you should leave,” Kane clenches his fists and holds my gaze, his wolf flashing in his eyes.
“So, Kane and Axel are your mates,” I say coldly.
“Yes,” Katie nods, looking at me.
My confusion quickly turns into sadness. Heavy, all-consuming, devastating sadness. Why did I have to fall for the she-wolf who is mated to my fucking brothers? What kind of sick twist of fate is this?
I run my hands through my hair. I can barely wrap my head around what it means that she, Kane, and Axel have been mates. They kissed, they fucked, they reproduced. Devastation crashes over me like a tidal wave.
Fuck. Everything belongs to Kane and Axel. Everything I wanted, everything I loved. Alice, Katie, Stella, the happy childhood and the alpha position. Everything.
A low, sharp moan of pain tumbles from my lips. It sounded eerie and animalistic even to my own ears.
Colt is taking over, I can feel it in the way my head is falling back, and my skin is tingling. I fall onto all fours, my fur shooting out across my body. I lunge for the door, swiping it open with my paw, and run out into the cool night.
I will not hurt them tonight ... but I will kill them eventually.
