Chapter 178: Manipulating Spells (Bonus Chapter 200GT)
"Up, up, la..aa...zy...."
The voice of the alarm was about to ring again when I unconsciously released a wave of electrified field from my body, and the delicate inscriptions inside the silver orb were fried.
I closed my eyes, and I tried to settle my soul from the memories that lingered from whatever I had just experienced.
A few minutes passed, and the smell of the cookfire outside my tent drifted towards my nose, and the fact that I was acknowledging this told me that I was beginning to recover.
What I had seen had clung to me deeper than I had expected, and I was beginning to fully realize the price of having a powerful soul. My memories were so clear, and they sustained themselves far past when they should have faded.
The blue flowers, the two moons, the stars falling, the moon shattering, and vast wings that could blot out the skies... these could not just be dreams or visions, not even my enhanced soul could conjure visions that were so vivid... at least, I hope this was not the case, or I would soon reach the point where I would not be able to tell the difference between truth and the visions conjured by my mind.
I sat up, opened my eyes, and discovered that I was covered with ash. My Acolyte robe had been destroyed, and my chest was bare; the threads of my trousers had survived the reset, because the trousers had been woven from my own power, and power carried over.
My white hair still fell across my eyes, and I saw my tent lit up a bit as my channels still glowed faintly beneath my skin. freeweɓnøvel.com
Ah, yes, I am now an Adept, and if I were careless, then I would destroy my fragile Acolyte properties, even the cot had a burn shape that suspiciously looked like me.
I smiled as I looked at my body, and then I had a thought about my spells, and I stood up, before concentrating on my Loom of Lightning, and began to stretch out the intent of the spell through my mind and my channels.
There was no chance for me to use my spells in the last loop, and I had not fully experimented with any of my new spells, and what I was doing was feeling how this Epic spell was being expressed in my channels, because I had an idea about how to use my spells differently.
As I was taking apart my new spell in my head, another mystery that I had not fully explored entered my mind.
My new channels were... odd, and this was the first time I had sat with them for a while to fully understand the difference. The new channels were not just for channeling Anima; they could store Anima as well, and it meant I could do many ridiculous things.
The first was that since my Channels could now store Anima, and I could increase the amount of Anima I had inside my body by moving the Anima in my Depth into my channels. In that manner, my Anima Depth would become a generator of Anima, essentially, and I would not have to worry about ever running out of power.
Obviously, I needed more time to fill up my channels, but with the insane regenerative rate of new Anima Depth, it should not take as long as I thought.
Another property of my channel, apart from its impressive durability, was the fact that with Anima stored in my channel, casting spells became almost instantaneous.
Anima was transformed to the magic of the caster’s choice as it moved through the channels, but with my channels, I did not have to move my Anima; the conversion could be done in the channels, and it meant that in any duel against a fellow mage, no one would be able to cast faster than me.
It also meant that I may be able to use my spells in ways that even the description on my status screen could not predict because it was using a magus standard template to judge how these spells could be cast.
With these new revelations, I proceeded with what I intended to do at the start. Threads of lightning emerged from my fingers, and using the same configuration of Threadwork that I used in creating my trousers, I extended the weaving until it covered my body.
In a moment, I had recreated my Acolyte robes with stunning accuracy, and even made shoes for myself; however, they were glowing, and no one would believe that these clothes were made from fabrics.
I felt my status screen vibrate, and I knew that my actions may have just led to the growth of this spell. With the relentless battles facing me, it was easy to forget that there were other ways to grow than in battle, and stretching the limits for a spell was one powerful way to enhance a mage’s ability.
Loom of Lightning was a success, but I did not stop here. Reaching into myself, I conjured Lightning Edict.
This strange Legendary Spell was a killing discipline meant to convert anything imbued with my lightning essence, but I was thinking there could be other uses for this spell.
Letting a barest hint of its ability emerge from my fingers, which is something that only my new channels could bear, because it was as if I was holding a pen the size of a tree and writing a delicate note with it... Without the strength of my channels, I would just explosively release this spell and not use it in such a delicate manner.
Holding the power of change in my tongue, I whispered a command, "Change."
The world seemed to pause, and my shiny robes began to transform in front of my eyes. In a second, they had taken the shape and texture of my Acolyte robes, and I could not help but smile at this change.
I extended the magic to my white hair, and it became black. This transformation was not permanent; I could feel the bonds of the true shape of me wanting to revert to its previous form, but since I did not want to fight against this change, I easily dismissed it.
This showed me that if I used this spell against someone that was more powerful than me, they would be able to resist its influence to a certain extent.
Lightning Edict — 63 (Adept)
I sighed and then focused on the vision I had just experienced. Using these spells had relaxed my mind, and now I could think without the stress and tension that I had awakened with.
