Chapter 35: Black Iron Spiritual Stone
DING!
(You have helped the children of the Barbarian Tribe from Desolate Stone Village escape. You have received 400 System Points!)

After who knew how long they had been digging upward, Mateo received a notification.
The System had already considered the mission complete, meaning they had arrived somewhere safe.
When the earth controller split the ground apart once more, the sky was finally revealed.
They hurried forward even faster and eventually emerged outside.
What Mateo saw was a village similar to Desolate Stone Village.
It was an empty village that appeared to have been abandoned for a long time, hidden within a canyon filled with vines that nearly sealed off the opening above.
The two adult barbarian men exchanged glances.
"Are we just going to live here?" asked the one carrying the greatsword.
"We have no other choice. However, this place isn’t without its advantages. The children can grow faster and become stronger here," replied the earth controller while looking upward.
Suddenly, his eyes seemed to turn red.
"Then we can strike back at Cloud Valley Town and take our revenge."
Mateo, "..."
"Friends, I need to leave now," he said afterward, immediately drawing the attention of the two adults.
"Oh right, I’ve already been paid, so there’s no need to reward me further," he added, worried that they might think his services had gone unpaid.
Although they technically hadn’t paid him, he considered the reward of 400 System Points to be his payment.
"This canyon is very deep. Do you want me to send you to the top?" asked the earth controller.
"No, no need. I can do it myself," Mateo replied.
All he needed to do was release his Primordial Life Element into the ground.
As a result, a tree rapidly grew beneath his feet.
When he supplied it with even more Life Element, it continued growing until it nearly reached the top of the canyon.
With a single leap, he jumped out.
However, what he found was even more surprising.
He was still inside a canyon—just a much larger one.
This time, there were no vines covering the opening above, allowing him to see the tall grass lining the rim.
The actual location was still inside the Grass Forest.
Although the canyon itself appeared safe, Mateo could sense numerous dangers waiting above.
"I already know the direction," he said.
By linking the location to his original body, even though he couldn’t determine the exact distance between Desolate Stone Village and this canyon, he knew which direction to travel from the Grass Forest if he ever wanted to return.
Pluff!
His figure vanished.
He could dismiss the clone with a single thought, and all of his Life abilities instantly returned to his original body.
At this moment, Desolate Stone Village was still in chaos.
The battle had not yet ended.
The reason was simple.
The tribal chief was still alive.
He was unbelievably powerful, still holding on despite facing the ten strongest Magi participating in the battle.
Mateo merely watched from afar.
The chief’s escape route had been sealed by walls of light covered in lightning.
He could no longer counterattack and could only endure the relentless assault.
Even so, the continuous attacks failed to bring him down.
He roared like a lion.
Then suddenly, the Baron standing at the edge of the crater threw a spear wrapped in wind.
It was so fast that it resembled a rocket launching into the sky.
It pierced through everything in its path before stabbing through the chief’s back and emerging from his chest.
The valiant chief’s eyes widened instantly as he turned around in fury.
Unfortunately, only a moment later, the light in his eyes faded away.
BANG!
He collapsed to the ground, lying among the corpses of countless members of his tribe.
Mateo let out another sigh.
An innocent tribe had ultimately been massacred because of the Baron’s greed.
Only after the battle ended did the Baron descend with his soldiers.
He waved his hand, ordering all the Magi to gather. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Several Magi were called forward, and they looked nervous.
"You didn’t find them?" he asked casually.
They merely nodded without answering.
The Baron didn’t seem particularly concerned about it and simply ordered them to step back.
"There is still work for all of you to do. Clean this place up. Within one hour, I want this entire area ready for mining," he said to all the Magi.
The order immediately irritated them.
Work like this should have been done by ordinary laborers, not Magi.
But since it was the Baron’s command, everyone could only nod.
"Bring the miners here immediately," he ordered his soldiers.
Some of them quickly departed.
Meanwhile, Mateo entered the village and joined the group demolishing houses.
He revealed a small portion of his power—his Life Element, though only the ordinary Earth Life Element.
That alone was enough for him to quietly assist other Magi by restoring their energy.
Besides him, Kevin Baker was doing the same thing.
The difference was that Kevin released Sky Life Element, a much stronger variant.
Mateo had no intention of competing.
He simply wanted to avoid trouble.
"Do you know what the Baron wants to mine from this village?" one of the Magi receiving Life Element from Mateo asked his companion.
"Black Iron Spiritual Stone. It contains a special type of energy, and there’s an S-Class Codex Magica that can absorb it."
"Oh? And what does that energy become? More Spiritual Energy?"
"No. It becomes a Black Iron Magic Physique. If you possess it, your body will become incredibly powerful. You can resist magical attacks using your physical body alone without even forming magical defenses."
"So something like that exists too."
"Yes, but Codex Magic techniques that create Magic Physiques are extremely difficult to obtain. I’ve heard they’re all S-Class. But honestly, the hardest part is obtaining the necessary resources."
The two continued talking while Mateo listened with curiosity.
With all the Magi working together to clear the valley, the job was completed surprisingly quickly.
The barbarian tribe’s houses were demolished.
Then the materials themselves were destroyed until they became ashes.
Within a single hour, the entire valley had been flattened.
The Baron appeared satisfied.
He gathered everyone once more.
"For your work today, I will naturally reward you. Each person may receive a house, or if you desire something else, such as a woman, that can also be arranged," he said with a smile.
No one had expected him to say such a thing.
The Magi who had been irritated by his arbitrary commands immediately became excited.
However, a moment later, the Baron’s expression suddenly darkened.
"Earlier, I noticed that some of you did not participate in the battle. You merely avoided the enemy and kept your distance," he said, his gaze sweeping across several people.
Finally, his eyes stopped on Mateo.
Naturally, Mateo was instantly stunned.
