Chapter 18: Guild

Mateo was stunned, wanting to laugh and cry at the same time.

Instead of responding, he turned around and jumped up through the hole above.

Even a height of ten meters was easy for him to reach with a single leap.

"Hey, you! Where are you going?" the woman shouted, but Mateo merely shook his head before walking away.

He disliked people like her the most.

"Looks like I’ve been gone for quite a while..." he suddenly remembered that he was still in class.

Of course, he could not sleep for that long since another class should have already started.

Realizing this, he immediately thought about leaving the Magic World.

The moment his eyes opened, he straightened his back at once.

To his surprise, the lecturer was already in the classroom, teaching.

His sudden movement attracted attention, causing several students to laugh.

Apparently, everyone else who had been sleeping earlier had already woken up.

Mateo was sure he had not spent that much time in the Magic World, so why had time passed so quickly? fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"Allen, are you sick?" asked the lecturer, a middle-aged man whose hair had already turned completely gray.

"Professor, I entered the Magic World. I only just succeeded, so I failed to keep track of time," Mateo answered honestly.

If he said he was sick, he would be sent to the university infirmary. But if he admitted he had simply fallen asleep, he might get scolded.

As far as he knew, those who could enter the Magic World were often given special privileges. If it was related to their activities there, their mistakes were usually overlooked.

Naturally, his answer shocked the students.

"Mateo, you awakened?" asked the indifferent-looking curly brown-haired guy sitting beside him, Lucas White.

"Yeah..." Mateo nodded casually.

He had not expected this guy to suddenly talk to him after hearing that.

"Excellent... Join my family’s guild. We won’t just guide you and help you grow, we’ll even give you a weekly salary. One thousand dollars per week for now, and it’ll increase as your strength improves."

Mateo froze when he heard the sudden offer.

One thousand dollars per week just for joining a guild, while also receiving support to grow stronger.

Could it really be that easy?

Mateo did not fully believe it.

Besides, he already had a connection with Alice. Why would he need to follow someone else?

"I just want freedom in the Magic World. I don’t think joining your guild would suit me," he replied.

"How foolish. Don’t you understand what you have? You should use every opportunity to grow properly."

Mateo, "..."

He scratched his head.

Just earlier, that blonde-haired woman had been giving him unreasonable orders. Now he was getting scolded simply for refusing to join a guild.

What was wrong with not wanting to join?

He chose not to answer and remained silent.

Lucas was stunned when Mateo stopped responding, but since the lecturer was still in front of the class, he also realized it would be inappropriate to keep talking.

Mateo listened to the lesson seriously.

After the lecturer left, he immediately stood up.

"Mateo, wait!" Lucas quickly called out as he started walking away.

"I’m not interested in joining a guild," Mateo said.

After being called foolish, he naturally had no desire to get close to this guy.

"Are you sure you don’t want to? Do you realize how much our support could help you? If you wander around alone, the risk of death is extremely high, and you’ll lose your life in the Magic World."

Even now, his tone still sounded forceful.

Mateo thought this guy was seriously toxic, always trying to pressure and command others.

He chose not to answer again, and as soon as he stepped out of the classroom, he saw Jack coming out of the class next door.

Mateo immediately walked over to him.

"Jack, want to grab lunch? My treat," he said right away.

"Really?" Jack instantly looked delighted, but then frowned when he noticed Lucas.

Lucas finally stopped following Mateo.

Clearly, he did not want to look ridiculous by continuing to talk to someone who ignored him.

Jack pulled Mateo along so they could leave faster.

"What was he saying to you?" he asked.
