Chapter 11: Boss

The chameleon entered the tall grass and instantly disappeared from Mateo’s sight.

What confused him was that it did not even disturb the grass, as though nothing had entered at all.

Mateo could not help remembering that the chameleon could not only change its color, but also its shape.

If that was the case, it might have shrunk itself to a tiny size.

Hiding truly was a chameleon’s specialty.

Mateo chose not to chase after it.

He was fairly certain that the chameleon was faster than him.

"Mm..." Suddenly, he saw many large red eyes surrounding him.

His expression immediately turned serious.

"Seven," he muttered softly.

Seven monsters had arrived. All of them were Level 10, consisting of dogs, snakes, gorillas, and even an enormous elephant standing seven meters tall.

Mateo realized they had been sent by the chameleon.

As a boss, it was naturally capable of commanding subordinates.

ROAR!

ROARGHHH!

Aooo!

Oook!

Different roars echoed through the area as the giant monsters charged toward him, causing the ground to tremble. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

Their massive bodies practically left him no room to dodge.

Mateo could not understand why the monsters here were so gigantic. They were only Level 10, so just how huge would they become at Level 50 and above?

He did not know whether the flames he continuously released would be enough to kill all of them at once.

But with no other choice, he could only do exactly that.

Buzz!

His flames burst forth endlessly, illuminating the dark night.

He did not dare slow down the release of his fire even slightly.

A single attack landing on him could be painful.

Even if his wounds could heal instantly, he had no desire to suffer pain.

Fortunately, no attack reached him before a notification appeared.

DING!

(You killed seven Level 10 Monsters simultaneously, you gained 1.40 Heaven Path Soul Energy Points and 70 System Points!)

[System Point: 73] +70

[Soul:]

Heaven Path Soul > 1.5 (SSS Class Soul)

Mateo was left stunned.

They were all dead.

But what shocked him the most was that each of them gave him 10 System Points and 0.20 Heaven Path Soul Energy Points.

This was completely different from before. After all, the frog had only given him 3 System Points.

Even the Heaven Path Soul Energy he received from each monster had doubled.

Was it because he killed seven at once, causing the System and his soul to recognize it as a greater achievement?

What mattered most was the 73 System Points.

If converted into Heaven Path Soul Energy, it would become 7.3 Energy Points.

Mateo became excited about collecting more System Points.

He wondered where he should go next and eventually chose the first small path he saw.

As long as it was a path, it should be safe, but if he found a cave, he could enter it.

And indeed, there were many caves along both sides of the road.

Mateo did not stop because he had only been walking for a short time.

He planned to go farther, confident in his strength.

If he did not see anything interesting inside a cave, he would simply keep moving.

He felt it was impossible not to find something as long as he continued exploring.

William had traveled cautiously, yet he still managed to discover something valuable.

After walking for more than half an hour, Mateo finally saw yellow light shining from within a cave that was much larger than the others.

The cave alone was around fifteen meters tall and twenty meters wide.

Mateo felt incredibly small in comparison.

If the monster guarding it had already died, then there would be no treasure left.

That yellow light was clearly treasure, meaning the monster was probably hiding inside the cave or beneath the ground.

Mateo could not honestly say he felt confident now.

’System, convert my System Points into Heaven Path Soul Energy,’ he commanded mentally.

DING!

(You exchanged 73 System Points for 7.30 Heaven Path Soul Energy!)

[System Point: 0]

[Soul:]

Heaven Path Soul > 8.80 (SSS Class Soul)

Mateo intentionally did this because it made him feel safer.

"Eh..."

His eyes blinked in surprise afterward.

The yellow light suddenly disappeared.

DING!

(You obtained all treasures inside the cave ahead of you at the cost of 8 Energy Points. All treasures are now stored in your Inventory!)

A notification appeared immediately after.

Mateo then saw three additional items inside his Inventory.

However, he did not have the chance to examine them further.

Suddenly, a golden gorilla with four arms emerged from the cave.

It stood ten meters tall, its body packed with muscles, especially its four enormous arms whose veins resembled chains. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Each of its footsteps shook the earth.

Even the air itself seemed thinner around it, perhaps because it inhaled too much air with every breath.

Its expression initially showed confusion, but the moment it saw Mateo, it immediately became furious.

DING!

(Level 11 Boss Monster, Golden Gorilla!)

Mateo finally received the notification.

He had gone out searching for a Boss Monster, but the Boss Monster he wanted was the chameleon, a creature that specialized in hiding rather than combat.

The Baron wanted to capture it alive and promised a reward to anyone who succeeded.

But for a combat-oriented Boss Monster like the gorilla, even if there were rewards, few people would dare challenge it.

Unfortunately, there was no reward for this one.

The Baron did not care about it as long as it did not attack the town.

ROARGHHH!

The gorilla let out a hoarse roar and threw a punch toward Mateo.

Only then did Mateo realize its arms were long enough to reach him.

What power should he release in this situation?

Without thinking much, he chose to unleash his Primordial Life Element at maximum output.

Trees instantly sprouted around him, and even the existing trees moved on their own to merge with the Primordial Life Element.

The gorilla’s fist smashed into the trees, but the impact slowed drastically, giving Mateo the chance to run immediately.

He was slightly worried that Primordial Fire would not have enough time to turn the gorilla’s arm into ashes.

If that happened, he would still get hit.

This was the safer choice.

Level 11 monsters were far stronger than Level 10 monsters because they underwent a special transformation, especially Boss Monsters.

Mateo ran without even glancing back.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

The gorilla pounded its chest and chased after him, each step causing violent tremors.

However, within the dense forest, the gorilla also struggled to move freely.

The trees obstructed it, and destroying them slowed it down considerably.

"Damn, what is that?" Mateo encountered a traveling group of people.

They immediately panicked upon seeing the enormous golden gorilla.

Instead of attacking, they instantly fled.

And it was not just one group Mateo encountered. The repeated distractions gradually diverted the gorilla’s attention away from him, allowing him to escape completely.

Mateo chose to return directly to town.

Only then did he finally check the items that had appeared inside his Inventory.

[Inventory:]

(A-Class Weapon ×2)

(Spiritual Neon)

(Mastery Orb Tier 1)

(Spiritual Neon: a magical lamp that gathers Spiritual Energy around you, making it twice as dense, allowing you to absorb Spiritual Energy twice as fast!)

(Mastery Orb Tier 1: can help increase your mastery over Codex Magica and Magic Techniques by 10%!)

Mateo received explanations for the two items.

The remaining item did not need one because it turned out to be another A-Class Weapon.

But unlike the previous one, this was a dagger.
