Chapter 11: Chapter 11: I Decided to Show You Some Basics
The Ice Rose of the Academy.
The granddaughter of the Grand Archmagus, the headmaster.
She had an extremely rare S-rank affinity for ice.
Elena slowly stood up. Her cold eyes showed zero emotion.
She walked to the center of the platform like a queen checking her land, moving with graceful steps.
No chanting. No hand signs.
She just gently lifted her pale, jade-like right hand.
In a split second, the temperature in the whole arena dropped like a rock!!
Thick white frost quickly started to cover the obsidian floor.
The students in the stands couldn’t help but shiver. They wrapped their arms around themselves.
"Wh-what level of Magic Power is that??"
The calm look on Professor Harris’s face was gone. It was replaced by shock he couldn’t hide.
A sharp, biting cold light flashed in Elena’s ice-blue eyes.
"Fifth-Level spell... [Frost Dragon Roar]."
She lightly parted her lips. Her voice was as crisp as cracking ice.
Boom...!!!
A massive burst of wild, ice-blue Magic Power shot out from her palm!!
The moisture in the air was instantly sucked out and formed a terrifying, nearly thirty-foot-tall frost dragon!!
Every single ice scale on the dragon looked completely real, reflecting a chilling glow that made your heart skip.
"ROAR!!!"
The frost dragon opened its massive jaws and let out a deafening roar.
A visible, freezing storm swept across the entire platform.
The pale gold defensive barrier, which could easily take a full-power hit from a high-level mage, actually cracked with spiderweb lines in an instant!!
"Oh my god..."
"Fifth-Level magic!! She just started school, how could she cast a Fifth-Level spell!!"
"That’s already Archmagus-level power, right!!"
"This is too scary. Is this the real strength of the Ice Rose??"
The geniuses in the stands completely lost it. Their faces were full of awe and fear.
For someone her age to cast a Fifth-Level spell basically broke the historical records of the Kingdom of Oran!!
Even Andrew, who had been so cocky just a moment ago, paled and swallowed hard.
Up against absolute strength, his A+ [Explosive Flame Shield] was basically a joke.
"Done."
Elena gave a light snap of her fingers.
The once proud frost dragon instantly turned into a sky full of sparkling ice dust, like a beautiful snowfall.
She stood unharmed in the ice and snow, her silver hair dancing in the wind. She was stunningly beautiful.
"Gra-de..."
Professor Harris wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. His voice was shaking a bit.
"Grade: S!! No, S+!!"
"A perfect spell framework, a scary level of destruction. This is a textbook-level Fifth-Level spell!!"
Thunderous applause broke out across the whole arena.
But Elena acted like she heard nothing. She calmly walked off the platform.
Her eyes didn’t even pause on anyone. She still had that proud, ice-cold look that kept everyone far away.
Even shocking the whole crowd was just a tiny, unimportant thing to her.
"Alright, one last student left."
Professor Harris looked at the last name on his roster and frowned again.
All eyes instantly snapped to the boy in the corner who was still chewing on grass.
A mean glint flashed in Andrew’s eyes.
He suddenly jumped out, pointed at Arthur, and shouted.
"Everyone look!! Our Dawn Class ’great genius’ is about to take the stage!!"
"The guy who’s supposed to cast a Ninth-Level Forbidden Spell!!"
Andrew deliberately stressed "Ninth-Level Forbidden Spell," his tone dripping with mockery.
At that, the other students burst into loud laughter.
"Right!! I almost forgot!!"
"Hey, Arthur!! Show us your ’Meteor Blast’ already!!"
"Let’s see how a double F-rank trash can destroy the world!!"
The mocking voices washed over Arthur like a tidal wave.
Andrew kept sneering, pushing his attack closer.
"What?? Too scared to step up??"
"Forbidden Spells need massive amounts of Magic Power and Mental Power to back them up."
"You’re still just an apprentice who hasn’t even reached junior mage status. Your Magic Power can’t even spark a tiny flame!!"
Andrew threw his arms wide and stirred up the crowd.
"The truth is obvious!!"
"During the awakening ceremony, he definitely used some kind of disposable ancient alchemy item to fake that attention-grabbing explosion!!"
"He doesn’t know a single Forbidden Spell. He’s a complete fraud!!"
"Get out of Dawn Class!!"
"Frauds don’t deserve to stand next to us!!"
The crowd was thoroughly fired up.
To these self-important geniuses, Arthur’s very presence was an insult to them.
Professor Harris didn’t stop the students from heckling.
Honestly, he thought so too.
How could a double F-rank trash skip past so many levels and cast a Ninth-Level Forbidden Spell that even a Grand Archmagus would have to sacrifice their life to use??
"Student Arthur."
Professor Harris stared at him coldly.
"If you can’t show any magic, the academy reserves the right to take back your Inner Academy badge and expel you."
The situation had hit a dead end.
Everyone was waiting to see Arthur fail.
Waiting to watch him get kicked out of the arena like a stray dog.
Arthur finally spat out the grass.
He sighed and slowly straightened up.
"Honestly, you guys are really loud."
Arthur scratched his messy hair, took his lazy steps, and slowly walked up to the platform.
There was no anger in his dark eyes, no panic. Just a calm, "watching a show" vibe.
"Andrew has one point right."
Arthur stood in the center of the platform. His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried clearly to everyone’s ears.
"With my current body’s Magic Power reserves, I really can’t cast a Ninth-Level Forbidden Spell."
The moment he said that, the crowd below erupted in even louder boos.
"See!! He admitted it!!" Andrew shrieked with excitement.
"But..."
Arthur stretched the word out, a knowing smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
"Something like Meteor Blast has way too long a casting delay. It’d make too much noise and probably blow this dump of an arena apart."
"I’m not in the mood to pay for damages today."
"So, I guess I’ll show you... something basic."
Arrogant! So arrogant! Here we are, and he’s still blowing smoke!
Professor Harris’s face turned grim. He was just about to order security to drag this guy out.
But the very next second, Arthur moved.
He didn’t pull out a wand.
He didn’t chant a single word.
He didn’t even move his hands!!
He just casually lifted the index finger of his right hand.
Hmmm...
A strange, super-pure wave of energy instantly spread out over the platform!!
It wasn’t fire.
It wasn’t ice.
And it wasn’t earth.
It was pure... raw arcane energy!!
"Th-what element is that??" Professor Harris’s eyes shot wide open.
The second Arthur raised his finger, the massive D&D spell matrix in his head started firing up.
No long steps needed.
Mental power locked in!! Arcane field shifted instantly!!
"Magic Missile."
Arthur’s lips barely moved as he spat out four flat, emotionless syllables.
Zip!! Zip!! Zip!! Zip!! Zip!!
In just three seconds!!
Without any warning!!
Five thumb-sized orbs of blue energy, glowing like ghosts, hovered around Arthur’s fingertip.
They didn’t give off any earth-shaking pressure, but they carried a deadly, piercing edge!!
"Launch."
Arthur’s finger gave a light flick.
Vwoooom...!!!
With a sharp sonic boom, the five blue missiles instantly became five streaks of deadly light, rocketing forward!!
They were moving at blinding speed!!
So fast that not even the S-rank geniuses in the stands could track their paths!!
But the craziest part was, they didn’t fly straight!!
Mid-air, they carved out weird, physics-defying curves.
Like living homing missiles, they effortlessly weaved around floating stone pillars in the air.
Then, at crazy angles, they perfectly hit five fast-moving, invisible magic targets on the far edge of the platform!!
Thwip!! Thwip!! Thwip!! Thwip!! Thwip!!
