Chapter 385: Chapter 385 What We Refuse To Loose

Allison POV

The world narrows to one thing.

Ezra.

He’s down, his body twisted into the churned earth, Damon slipping away from him in the same heartbeat as Jack’s wolf surges forward, jaws opening wide, intent clean and final, and something inside me snaps into a clarity so sharp it feels like calm.

Ruby doesn’t hesitate as we fold space and teleport.

One blink we are three strides away, the next we stand over him, paws planted, tails flared, power rising in a clean, focused surge that slams outward before Jack’s wolf can finish the arc of his strike.

The air cracks when my magic hits him like a wall. He’s thrown sideways, momentum broken mid-lunge, his body twisting as he crashes hard into the ground, claws carving through dirt as he tries to recover, and I hold my stance over Ezra, every instinct narrowed to one directive; no one touches him.

Ethan and Elijah hit the line beside me a breath later, their wolves sliding into place without needing to speak, Blake on my right, Loki on my left, both of them low and lethal, their growls rolling through the clearing in a warning that doesn’t need translation.

Behind us, Ezra lies too still, but I don’t look down, I can’t afford to yet.

The fight around us fractures into something brutal and immediate, not organized lines or clean engagements, but bodies colliding in close quarters, claws and magic and steel all moving at once, the ground slick underfoot where blood has already soaked into it, and the sound of it is constant, snarls layered over shouted orders, spells cracking against wards, bone meeting bone. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Jack recovers fast, he always does. His wolf rises with a snarl that’s all rage and no control, blood streaking his shoulder where Ezra tore into him, but it doesn’t slow him, it only sharpens his focus, and when his eyes lock on me, there is no hesitation left in him.

He comes again, faster this time. Meaner in some way. Ruby braces, weight dropping, power coiling tight and ready to strike again, but before I can release it, Loki moves.

He launches and meets Jack’s wolf midair, their bodies colliding with a force that sends both of them crashing hard into the ground, claws and teeth flashing as they roll, and for a heartbeat it’s all motion, fur and muscle and violence tangled together.

Blake joins without pause as he slams into Jack’s flank, adding weight, adding pressure, forcing him down, and the two of them move in a brutal, synchronized rhythm that doesn’t need words, only intent.

Jack fights back and he always was strong - a former Alpha.

His jaws snap, catching along Loki’s shoulder, teeth sinking in deep enough that blood spills fast and hot, and Loki snarls through it, twisting, refusing to yield ground, while Blake drives forward, claws tearing through Jack’s side in long, ripping lines that expose muscle beneath.

The smell of blood is thick now, almost overwhelming. Metallic and hot and real.

Jack tries to surge up, to break their hold, to turn the fight into something he can dominate through force, but this isn’t a dominance fight anymore. This is an ending.

Blake goes for the throat first, jaws locking in, teeth sinking deep, not clean, not quick, but brutal and committed, and Loki follows a heartbeat later, clamping down from the other side, and together they drag him down, forcing him into the dirt as Jack thrashes.

He claws at them, hind legs kicking, tearing into fur and flesh, trying to break free, but there are two of them and they are done holding back, done waiting, done giving him space to exist at their expense.

Blood sprays. Hot and heavy and his movements weaken. Not all at once, but in pieces, strength bleeding out of him as the fight turns from struggle to inevitability, and when Blake’s grip tightens and Loki shifts just enough to crush instead of hold, the sound that follows is wet and final, and Jack goes still.

The ground seems to absorb it and for a heartbeat, everything around us falters, the shock of it rippling outward, because an Alpha has just fallen, and even those who hated him feel the shift but I don’t linger on it.

I turn.

Ezra is still on the ground and I shift before I reach him, bones snapping back into place as skin replaces fur, breath tearing out of me as I drop to my knees beside him, hands already reaching, already searching.

He’s cold. Too cold.

His skin lacks the warmth it should hold, his chest still under my palm, and when I press harder, desperate for something, anything, there is no answering rhythm.

No heartbeat.

"No," I breathe, the word breaking despite everything I’ve held together so far. "No, Ezra, stay with me."

Ruby whines inside me, sharp and desperate, her presence pressing against mine in a way that feels almost physical.

’He’s slipping,’ she says, fear threading her voice in a way I’ve never heard before. ’Allison, he’s slipping away.’

I grab him, pulling his upper body into my lap, pressing my hand against his chest again as if force alone can make his heart remember what it’s supposed to do.

’Abigail,’ I mindlink, the words sharp and urgent, ’I need you. Now.’ There’s no delay.

’On my way,’ she answers.

And then Willow is there too, dropping beside me with a focus so absolute it cuts through the chaos around us, her hands already moving as she takes in Ezra’s condition in a single sweep.

"Hold him steady," she says, voice firm and grounded, and I do, tightening my grip without crushing him, anchoring him in place as if that alone can keep him here.

Meadow shifts in front of us, his panther form placing itself between us and the fight, massive and unyielding, while Ethan and Elijah take up positions at our sides again, blood still streaking their fur, their bodies forming a wall that nothing crosses.

The perimeter locks and the world narrows.
