Chapter 249: Chapter 249 You’re Safe With Me

Maze

"Arabella, please don’t be afraid of us. Of me. I have no ill will against you or any other female. I lost my shit because that cunt was so far over the line she couldn’t turn back even if she wanted to." Arabella snorts. She knows Kristina and hates her guts as much as the rest of us. I kept her because she was an efficient front desk worker.

"I am sorry, my Queen."

"Please call me Kiara." She swallows, searching Kiara’s eyes. When she finds no malice or joke, she nods reluctantly. She then looks at me. freeweɓnovel.cøm

"I apologize, Mr. Blue." She says and I smile.

"No need to apologize, Arabella." I say with a wave of my hand. "Are there any messages?" Kiara remembers she has to call her parents and excuses herself to go make the call after smiling at Arabella. She can feel the respect, and she knows she would never try to hit on me.

"There was an odd call not so long ago. After your wife shook the building though." She says, taking the sticky note from her desk.

"Odd how?" I ask, as Kiara comes out from my office and says we are welcome at her parents’ pack whenever we want, and that they are coming tomorrow night for dinner.

"Well, the caller was a female, but she was asking for your parents. When I told her they had retired and their son was in charge of the business she got very agitated. She cussed at me." I raise an eyebrow. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"Did you get her name?" Arabella shakes her head.

"I did trace the call afterwards though. The name is on the note." I look down and know I paled.

"Are you absolutely sure this is the name of the trace search?" I ask her and she nods. Kiara looks at me with concern in her eyes.

"Maze, what’s wrong?" She asks, but I just go past her into my office. I mindlink the others that we are going home right this instant.

After getting my things, and making sure Arabella takes the rest of the day off, I grab Kiara’s hand and drag her out with me. I haven’t spoken a word since I saw the note. I need my mate safe within my pack borders before I can focus on anything else. She is clearly worried about me and my strange behavior, but she doesn’t know what kind of danger we are in right now. If this is real, then shit will hit the fan at some point. Now we’re not just facing my psychotic ex and her demon lover friend. We are also facing an old foe. If this is true I need to contact uncle Jax and aunt Willow. Oh mom is going to go absolutely ballistic when I give her the news of Narine being on the surface again. I know her and dad have been searching for her ever since the war, but they couldn’t find her anywhere.

Back in pack lands, Kiara breaks the silence which has been loud between us since I shut down in the firm. She took my hand as I parked the car. I turn my head, my eyes immediately locking with hers.

"What is going on, Maze? Why are you spooked?" She asks. "I can see the ghosts in your eyes." She continues. I sigh and lean over to press a kiss to her forehead.

"I promise to explain in a bit, baby." I tell her, but she shakes her head.

"You need to tell me now, Maze." She says with seriousness all over her face. I don’t want to spook her more than necessary. I want her to know she is safe with me.

"Did your parents ever tell you what happened in the war? About the Star wolves?" She nods.

"Mom told me all about it when I was little. And in more detail as I got older. Why?" I sigh deeply.

"Do you know who Narine is?" Kiara raises an eyebrow.

"Of course I do. She’s the bitch that got away." She states it, and I can see how she is putting together the dots. "Let me see that note." She says with her hand forward. I would really rather not show her, but I cannot keep this from her either. I hand it over and Kiara reads it. Her expression is blank when she looks up. "Let’s go talk to everyone." She says, opening the car door. I hurry to her side, pull her into me and kiss her hair.

"You’re safe with me, Kiara." I say, not really knowing if I am trying to convince her or myself. She looks up at me, her expression calm.

"I know." She says, grabbing my hand and leading me inside.

As everyone, and I mean everyone, all my ranked members, siblings, cousins and all the parents, aunts and uncles are gathered in the private living room on the Alpha floor, all eyes are on me. Kiara is standing with me, her demeanor calm and collected. She clears her throat.

"Before Maze tells you what this is about I need you all to keep calm and not start shouting over each other." She clearly locks eyes with my mom. "This especially goes for the older members of this crowd." She squeezed my hand.

"Narine is back. We need everyone on board." The silence stretches on and you can cut the tension with a knife.
