Chapter 20: Chapter 20 Family, or?
The Third Person’s POV
She runs with all her might. She needs to reach the Queen before anyone else.
The Queen is in danger, and she doesn’t even know it yet. When she heard the other witches last night, she knew it was too late for them to turn back. She looks over her shoulder.
Someone is following her, and she has an inkling who. They will not catch her.
She is used to moving quickly and silently through the forest. Being an assassin will do that to you. Even though the sound of someone approaching grows louder, she knows she will have no choice but to talk them out of going with her.
She has decided, and they will never make her turn against the Queen. Not that they will even try, but she will also not allow them to get involved in her madness. Going against your own twin sister and coven is hard, but her Queen takes priority. She has sworn an oath to Queen Mallory right before they executed her.
The tear momentarily blinded her, and she feels the presences behind her gain. She jumps into a tree and waits. They will be upon her vanishing point in a minute. But when they burst through the bushes, she rolls her eyes and jumps down again.
It was definitively not the persons she thought it would be, but it should not surprise her, it was them.
"Willow, what in the Goddesses’ name are you doing here?" She asks angrily.
"I’m going with you! I can help.. They don’t.. You can’t leave me." Willow stares at her big sister in despite. She knows why her sister is running away, and she wants to help.
"No! You are going back to grandmother, right now! I took you there so you wouldn’t get involved." She would not get her innocent ten-year-old little sister get hurt, no matter how powerful she might be. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"And you!" She turns to Jax. "You should know better than to let her leave." Jax shrugs his shoulder and gives a look at the girl beside him, like ’yeah, as if that is going to happen with a stubborn ass as her’.
"She was going to leave with or without me. I am her familiar, and I will protect her!" Jax answers in a bored tone.
"Exactly why you should have made her stay. Do you two know what kind of danger there is out here?" She glares at the stubborn child and her familiar. Jax came to them when Willow was three years old. He claimed her to be his charge. Jax is a shifter, but he shifts into a giant cat - a ferocious feline with no mercy in battle. She shakes her head.
"I will not wait for you! I need to reach the Queen by morning, and Silver Mist is still several hours away." Jax smiles like the Cheshire cat.
"Oh, don’t worry about us. Willow can ride on my back. We will not hinder your journey." He knows she has a huge soft spot for her sister. Even though she always seems annoyed by her, he had caught her tender looks enough times to know better.
"Oh, and Ellie?" Jax asks when she was about to turn around. She raised an eyebrow. "Yes?"
"When we get there. What if they try to kill us? They rarely do well with witches, and you and Willow are no ordinary witches." She sighed.
"The Queen will feel my presence as soon as I am close enough. And if that is not enough to stop an attack, the bond she’ll feel with Willow hopefully is. They are blood related after all."
Ellie runs again. She is agile, and she is fast. Her demon blood would do that to anyone. She knows the possibility of getting attacked upon arrival is high, but she has to go! Maybe Willow will be more safe within the pack, and with her blood sister? She didn’t know, but she knew she had an oath to uphold.
