Amber’s POV
"What the hell..." I ask, but before I can say anything else, Blaze pulls me into his arms and crashes his lips to mine. His tongue explores my mouth, and all of his worries, relief, and love melt into the kiss all at once.

"Eh, guys?"
"What, baby?" Chase answers with love laced in his voice, and tender eyes locked on mine.
"Not you! You are engaged, remember? What are you doing here anyway?" I snark at Chase, making him flinch as if I punched him. Serves him right.
‘Maybe we judged too hard and soon, doll?’
‘Don’t even try it, Ignis. I’m not ready to just overlook all of his indiscretions towards us!’
‘Only we never felt any pain, or...’ I snub her into the far back of my mind, not wanting to hear this. She’s right, of course, but I don’t care! He doesn’t just get to flaunt a girl in my face, regret it and then come back like nothing happened. That’s not how this works. I may not have rejected him the official way, but as of right now I only have one mate and an annoying shadow.
Behind me, someone makes a choking sound, and when I turn around the girls are nowhere to be found. I quickly scan the room, but I can’t see them. I look inside myself and find the bond I created with them both, and it shows me they are here. I walk to the bed, and then around it ignoring Chase and Blaze’s questions about what I am doing.
As I walk around the bed, both girls are bundled together and shaking. I rush to them, kneeling.
"What happened my darlings?" Worried laced in my voice, as I scan my girls from head to toe. They seem fine on the outside, but something tells me they are not.
"W.. W. We.." Melody tries to speak, but her voice is shaking uncontrollably. I pull them in my arms, whispering soothing words and rocking them from side to side.
"Shhh little ones, nothing is going to happen to you! I swear."
"Who are they?" The melody whispers back to me.
"They are my mates, and they are going to be your dads - if you’d like them too?" I answer back, kissing both their temples. They look at me in wonder, as if having a choice is so foreign to them. I absolutely hate how everything was robbed from then, and I have to keep reminding myself they need time to acclimate to me and our new situation.
"Amber? What are you doing, little moon?" Blaze asks with a chuckle as he rounds the bed with Chase in tow. Then they both stop dead in their tracks. I have the girls in my arms, when I stand to face them.
"And who are these little beauties?" Blaze asks in a soft voice, while Chase stares at the girls with wide eyes.
"Amber, baby, where did you find them? How did you find them? And why are they attached to you like that?" I roll my eyes at his endless questions. Goodness me.
"These little angels are Melody and Elina. They are mine, and I am keeping them. They were imprisoned in Kere’s world, and I rescued them. Why? Got anything to say, huh?"
"No, but do you know what they are?" Chase asks, hands in the air in surrender and voice lowered to not scare the children.
"Does it matter? They were prisoners, and I adopted them. Ignis has adopted them." I answer hotly, not knowing why it all matters in the least. Chase keeps his hands in the air in surrender, seemingly trying not to laugh at me, which only pisses me off even more.
Then something totally unexpected happens - Chase disappears in a puff of dark purple smoke. Blaze raises an eyebrow at me, looking at where my other mate just stood.
"Uhm, Amber I know he’s a pain in both our asses, but ain’t that a bit extreme?" He says, but I just shake my head while taking a seat on the bed.
"That wasn’t me. Although I did wish him to get lost." I answer with a laugh and in surprise.
My door flies open and there stands my dad, his face laced with concern.
"Dad, what happened? Are we under attack?" Blaze moves instinctively to me and the girls when the word ‘attack’ leaves my mouth.
"No, but your mother just vanished in a cloak of dark purple smoke." He looks at the girls on my lap, and Elina looks at us from under her lashes while Melody giggles.
"Elina, sweetheart, did you make them go away?" I ask, trying not to laugh at the silly thought of my two little girls already having such power. But to mine, and everyone else’s surprise, the little girl nods.
"They made you sad." She whispers to me, while looking at her big sister for help. I kiss her temple, and explain that even though they made me sad, she’s not supposed to just make them vanish - although I appreciate her concern for me.
"Please make them come back, darling," I say as my dad and Blaze look at the younglings in amazement.
Two seconds later Chase and mother are both standing in the room surrounded by purple smoke, and looking utterly confused.
"I told you there are shadow dragons," Chase says to my mother while going to me and the girls, who hiss at him. He smiles at them.
"Even though Calor is a royal, neither he nor I will do anything to you. Those days are over little ones. You are as much my children as Amber’s and Blaze’s."
"Uhm, excuse you, but have not forgiven you or forgotten how you behaved with that cake-faced bimbo bitch!" I say with an attitude, as my parents growl. They don’t like my voice or where my words are leading.
"I knew letting you go with those above standard sized lizards was a bad idea! I told you, Matt, they cannot be mated to MY daughter!" Mother yells as she points a finger toward Chase and Blaze. I lift an eyebrow.
"That’s rich coming from the one who forced a title, powers, and responsibilities upon me without my consent. Or that fact that you have hidden the truth about my mates all along. You knew I was mated to a dragon, but you kept it to yourself all my life. Both of you!" I yell back at her. The girls clutch my arms, and I immediately calm down.
"Sorry, babies. I didn’t mean to scare you."
"You didn’t tell her?"
"She was better off not knowing.."
"But we visited you all those years ago."
"Wait, wait, wait! Hold on one fucking moment here. Let me get this straight; you two kept Chase being Amber’s mate a secret all her life, then tried to keep me from meeting her for her own good, AND then forced her to be Queen without asking her first? That is so fucked up!" Blaze says in a loud voice, but without yelling so as to not scare the girls anymore. Tears are threatening to spill, and both Blaze and Chase sit on either side of me and put their arms around the three of us. Their closeness, their warmth, and the fact that Chase has opened the mate bond fully again, make me feel complete for the first time in my life. I teleport my parents out of my room, no asking, only doing at this point, while leaning into the embrace of both my guys.
Chase has a lot to make up for, but as of right now, I am tired of fighting this all the time. The only thing I have wanted since I opened my door was to throw myself into both their embraces and melt into them. Making us one whole unity. But I need answers, and I need to know what has happened since Keres kidnapped me. Where are Ezra, Merida, and Glaciel? What about Gloria, Gia, and Callus? Something is weighing on my guys, but what?
But for this moment in time. This small speck of peace and quiet is welcomed by all of us. Before I know it I’m falling into a deep sleep, feeling my children and my mates around me.
