Chapter 136: Chapter 136 Brother Bond
Blaze’s POV
It’s been almost five days since Amber disappeared from the western border, and boy what a five days it’s been. I can’t believe what happened here, and how close me and Chase have grown since we found our common ground - our mate.
First off Chase told of his bastard of a father, well technically our bastard of a father. Then he proceeded to totally ignore that bitch of a wannabe Queen he brought to the table. And then he walked away. All in the evening of Amber’s disappearance. But that was far from the end of it.
His father came to the western border with the two cake faces in tow, and Glaciel trotting behind them. Her face was a mask of worry, and I knew she had nothing to do with anything. The others, however. Their faces showed a display of emotion, but worry and surprise was not any of them.
At this time our mother, Queen Amber, had said her goodbyes as she was called back to the realm of the dead. She was a little sulky; she didn’t have time to harass the King some more, but we both promised her we would get to the bottom of this. Especially Chase had a hard time coming to terms with his father’s crimes - a father he had always looked up to as a guide to be a good King.
"Son, would you mind explaining what is going on? You have neglected your wife-to-be all night, and when you show up again you have this riffraff with you."
"Perhaps you would clarify which son you are referring to, father?" I ask sarcastically. Chanse snorts, but his eyes are fixated on the man standing in front of us. Callus pales, before red spots of anger spreads over his cheeks.
"So you know, then?" Is the only response we get. Both Chase and I nod, and the tension can be cut with a cake knife at this point.
"I had hoped you would not know, yet. But it doesn’t matter in the least. Chase, you know your duty to our people, and therefore nothing has changed. You are to marry Gia, and that is the end of it." Callus says with a small smirk. "Either you do it voluntarily, or I will have to use force. Don’t make me the bad guy, son." He continues, while his eyes cloud over. Chase is shaking in anger, but can’t say anything before the clearing is swamped with guards. He came prepared, I’ll have to give him that. But he didn’t take into account who he was up against.
"Guards take my son to his room, and make sure he doesn’t leave until the ceremony tomorrow morning. He is going to be married to the rightful Queen of our lands." Callus yells, but both Chase and I have absolutely no intention of going quietly. I know Callus will have me cast out, again, on the pretense of being a danger to Chase. Well, no thank you daddy dearest. The guards hesitate just a second which is all we need, Chase mind-links someone, and I go to stand in front of him. He might have an idiot face, but he is my brother nonetheless.
"I would think twice before trying to take the Prince anywhere against his will," I say, as I take a fighting stance.
"Grab him! He’s a traitor to our race! An abomination." Callus yells, his eyes crazy and his voice slightly high pitched. The women besides not looking any better, both screaming profanities at me, Chase, and the guards for hesitating.
Then a loud growl penetrates the clearing, and a mix between a bear and a wolf barrels the guards moving forward. He slams them down, but only to render them unconscious. Gloria and Gia scream in fear, as the wolf/bear roars into the night. I almost forgot they were here until the moment when Merida walks beside me. She looks at the people trying to force Chase into something he doesn’t want, her eyes swirling like the deepest depths of the ocean.
As the guards are taken down, Berion arrives at the clearing with a dusin of men behind him. freēwebnovel.com
Callus makes a noise of victory, but is quickly shot down by the men grabbing him, Gloria, and Gia. They move towards Glaciel as well, but both Chase and I stop them. She moves to stand with us, facing her mother and sister with a look of disgust on her face.
"King Callus, Miss Gloria, and Miss Gia. You are hereby taken into custody accused of treason, a plot to force marriage on Prince Chase, and the murder of the late Queen Amber." Berions deep voice booms. "I, Berion, Dragon Wise and one of the First of our kind, strip you of your title." Berion growls at Callus. Callus screams and yells for the guards still awake to help him, but they only look on as the former King is taken away. These were events I didn’t see coming.
"I am sorry, I’m late. You were right, Chase. Every piece of evidence we needed was in his bedroom and study." Chase nods, sadness swirling in his eyes.
The following days were filled with the coronation, and plans to save Amber. Chase took everyone, myself included by surprise, when he announced me as his twin brother and the High Prince of the Kingdom. This meant I was going from an outcast, to unwelcome, to royalty, in the span of less than a month. Crazy.
Every minute Chase wasn’t using on his new duties, was used to contacting her parents and brother - which was a blast and a half. Queen Abigail yelled at us for about an hour about how incompetent we were before her mate calmed her down and asked if she felt the same about him for all the time she herself had been in danger. This cooled her down enough to apologize and ask what they could do to help.
We were planning to try and find Kere’s realm, but all other leads turn out cold. Chase and I became close in the search for our mate, and our twin bond kickstarted after the events with Callus and his two accomplices. Glaciel was proven innocent, and could finally be open about her mate without fearing the repercussions of her insane mother. All in all, everything was good, but not perfect. Perfect meant for Amber to return to us, and not be angry with Chase - but we both knew that train had left the station a long time ago.
On day five we were scouring the sources of where the doorway to Keres’ realm could be when we got a call from a frantic Maze.
"She’s here. And she has kids with her. You better get here ASAP!" He says on the phone, before hanging up. Kids? Chase and I exchanged a look, as the door to his office burst open.
"My King, your Highness. The prisoners. They are... Gone." The head of the royal guard, Tristan, says in between breaths.
FUCK!
