Chapter 240: Quickly, call her sister-in-law.

Karl reacted immediately.

Turning toward Adelyn, he asked without hesitation, "Sister-in-law, can we join in?"

Adelyn glanced in their direction —and instantly felt as though she had been placed in an incredibly difficult position.

These were the princes of the Warren family.

And yet ... they were asking her for permission to enter their own brother’s house.

Wasn’t that, in itself, a silent humiliation?

Her brows drew together faintly as she turned to look at Dylan —only to find him already watching her, his gaze steady, as if patiently waiting for her answer.

Was that really necessary?

"You can choose," he said calmly.

And his words only stunned her further.

Choose what?

Whether to let them stay ... or turn them away?

This man was definitely doing this on purpose.

She just couldn’t figure out what his purpose was.

"Mr. Warren, they are your brothers. How can I—"

"You are my woman," he cut in smoothly, as if there were nothing unusual about what he was saying. "You can decide. They’ll follow."

His tone was calm.

Matter-of-fact.

As though it was the most natural thing in the world.

Adelyn froze.

And almost instinctively, her gaze drifted toward the doorway again.

Felix and Jasper were looking at her, their expressions carrying a mix of curiosity and quiet expectation.

Karl, on the other hand, gave her a firm nod —as if assuring her that whatever she decided, he would comply without question.

That only made things worse.

"Please ... please come in," she said quickly, not wanting them to remain standing there any longer. The awkwardness was becoming unbearable. "Any later and the food will go cold."

The moment she said that—

Karl clapped his hands together.

"See? I knew it," he said, turning toward his brothers with a grin. "Sister-in-law wouldn’t refuse us. She’s the kindest one among all of you." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

And with that, he stepped forward first, completely at ease.

Behind him, Jasper and Felix followed.

They weren’t embarrassed.

But they were ... curious.

In just a few days, Adelyn’s presence had become far more significant than they had initially assumed.

"Where are you ... going?" Felix asked with a slight frown when he noticed Karl veering away ... instead of following them to the opposite side of the table.

Even Jasper paused mid-step, glancing at him.

Karl simply shrugged. "Where else would I go? I’m sitting beside sister-in-law."

He pointed toward the empty chair next to Adelyn.

"That seat is empty, clearly reserved for me."

And before Felix could even react, Karl had already walked over, pulled out the chair, and sat down comfortably.

"Sister-in-law, you don’t mind me sitting here, do you?" he asked—

But didn’t wait for her answer.

Adelyn watched him, her lips pressing together slightly.

This kid ...

He really needed someone to teach him boundaries.

Her fingers tightened faintly around the fork in her hand, though she forced herself to remain composed.

Across the table, Jasper and Felix took their seats opposite them.

"Oh yes, sister-in-law," Karl spoke again, turning toward her as if he had just remembered something important. "Have you properly met my other two brothers?"

The fork in Adelyn’s hand paused.

For a brief second, she closed her eyes.

All she wanted was to quietly finish breakfast and leave.

But clearly ... things weren’t going to go that way.

Looking back at Karl, she forced a polite smile. "I have. Mr. Warren introduced me to everyone the last time."

She deliberately avoided mentioning where.

After all, everyone present knew exactly what had happened at the Imperial View.

There was no need to bring it up again.

Karl nodded thoughtfully. "Oh, right. But sister-in-law, do you really remember them?"

Adelyn’s smile stiffened.

"I mean," Karl continued innocently, "that morning was complete chaos, and you left in such a hurry. I doubt proper introductions even happened."

And just like that—

The one thing she had deliberately avoided mentioning ... was brought up so casually.

Adelyn tightened her grip on the fork.

For a fleeting second, she genuinely considered dragging him outside and knocking some sense into him.

But she held back.

Barely.

Karl, of course, remained completely oblivious —or perhaps simply chose not to notice.

Right now, he had only one goal.

He wanted everyone to properly acknowledge his sister-in-law.

So, turning toward Felix and Jasper, he suggested brightly, "Since we’re all here again, why don’t we introduce ourselves properly this time?"

Adelyn was about to say it wasn’t necessary —that she already knew them.

But before she could speak—

Karl continued.

"You already know me," he said proudly, "and I already call you sister-in-law. So let’s start with Felix."

Felix had just begun serving himself some food.

He paused mid-motion and looked up.

Karl nodded at him expectantly.

Felix instinctively glanced toward Dylan.

But seeing him calmly continuing his breakfast without intervening—

He understood.

Turning back to Adelyn, he spoke in a composed tone, "Hello, Ms Grace. I’m Felix Warren, third in line. It’s nice to meet you again."

Adelyn gave him a small nod. "I’ve heard Mr Warren mention you. It’s nice to meet you as well."

Her tone was polite.

Measured.

Nothing more.

Even though Felix had addressed her courteously, she could still sense a layer of distance in his demeanor.

A natural reserve.

A quiet caution.

Given that this was only their second meeting —it didn’t bother her.

Nor did she take it personally. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

But Karl did.

The moment Felix finished speaking, Karl frowned.

"Felix," he said, clearly dissatisfied, "you missed something."

Felix blinked, confused. "Missed what?"

Karl pursed his lips, looking almost disappointed. "How can you be this clueless? You are older than me, and yet it’s me, who has to teach you basic manners."

Jasper raised a quiet brow when he heard Karl say that.

Felix’s frown deepened. "What exactly are you talking about?"

"Your manners," Karl repeated seriously.

Then, turning toward Adelyn, he gestured toward her before looking back at Felix.

"She is our brother’s woman. You should show proper respect."

And then—

Without hesitation—

"Quickly, call her sister-in-law," Karl said firmly. "Say it properly this time. Don’t leave a wrong impression. Or else, my sister-in-law might not like you."

Adelyn was completely taken aback.

She turned to look at him—

Her gaze filled with disbelief.

At this point, she genuinely couldn’t understand whether he was being serious ... or just deliberately making things worse.
