Chapter 224: Requests beyond my principles.

At Fusion Entertainment —

Edic lifted his gaze, his glasses resting low on the bridge of his nose as he silently studied the young man seated across from him. A file lay open in his hand, giving the impression that he was reviewing its contents, but in truth, his attention was entirely elsewhere —fixed on whatever strange mood this young lord had walked in with today.

Ethan sat there, saying nothing.

That, in itself, was unusual enough to be alarming.

When the silence stretched to a point where Edic found it unbearable, he snapped the file shut a little louder than necessary. The sound echoed lightly through the office, sharp enough to demand attention.

"Alright," he said, leaning forward against his desk and fixing Ethan with a direct look. "Who the hell offended you?" His tone carried a mix of curiosity and amusement. "Come on, tell me. This older brother of yours will make sure they regret it."

Ethan’s brows immediately drew together into a frown.

But instead of answering, he simply turned his chair slightly to the side, angling his body away as if even looking at Edic had suddenly become too much of a bother.

Edic stared at him for a second.

Then he let out a long, exaggerated sigh.

"You either tell me," he said, tapping his fingers lightly against the desk, "or you can get up and leave my office right now."

He raised a hand and pointed straight toward the door without even bothering to look at it.

"Don’t sit here like this," he added dryly, his gaze returning to Ethan. "You’re making it feel like I should start preparing my future generations to bow before you for eternity."

Still, Ethan didn’t respond. fгeewebnovёl.com

And that only made Edic narrow his eyes further, his interest piqued despite himself.

"Ethan Grant ... I call you ancestor, but you aren’t exactly —"

He was about to continue, but before he could, Ethan’s eyes turned toward him — cold, sharp, and filled with irritation. His brows furrowed deeply, and the sudden shift in his expression made Edic pause mid-sentence.

He quickly slapped a hand over his lips.

"My lips seem to have developed a habit of moving on their own recently," he said with a forced chuckle. "Of course, you are my ancestor. How could you not be? You definitely are."

He leaned forward again, tone softening slightly.

"But seriously, tell me what exactly happened."

He studied him for another second before adding, "You look like you swallowed something you shouldn’t have. If there’s anything you want me to do for you, I’ll do it—"

"Can you make her disappear from Director Rhodes’s movie?"

Ethan suddenly spoke.

The words came so abruptly that for a moment, Edic couldn’t process them.

"Huh?" Edic blinked, his brows knitting together in confusion. "What did you just say?"

Ethan’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. His face remained completely straight as he looked at him and repeated,

"That supporting actress you mentioned last time at the training ground —can you have someone remove her?"

This time, Edic understood.

But instead of answering immediately, his confusion only deepened.

"Freya’s new artiste?" he asked slowly.

When Ethan didn’t respond, Edic’s frown deepened further.

"Did she offend you? How?"

"Can you do it or not?" Ethan asked flatly, clearly uninterested in explaining.

Edic pursed his lips for a moment before suddenly breaking into a wide grin.

"You’re my ancestor, not everyone’s," he said lightly. "What makes you think we can pull strings like that in the industry?"

To be honest, they could.

But Edic wasn’t that kind of person.

He had never liked using his connections unfairly, nor did he truly believe Ethan was serious. To him, this just seemed like another one of the young man’s strange moods —something he would get over soon enough.

So he decided to play along.

Ethan stared at him for a brief moment.

Then, without another word, he stood up.

"Since you can’t," he said indifferently, "there’s no need for me to sit here."

And with that, he turned around to leave.

Seeing his attitude, Edic immediately stood up as well.

"You—what do you mean? Come back here and explain yourself!"

But Ethan simply walked out of the office without even sparing him a glance.

Edic was almost furious.

Yet just as his temper threatened to rise, he forced himself to take a deep breath and calm down.

"This boy will seriously not let me live in peace," he muttered under his breath, slumping back into his chair.

He leaned back, rubbing his temples as he tried to settle himself.

And just when he felt he had barely regained some composure—

A knock sounded on the door.

Thinking it might be Ethan returning, Edic immediately spoke,

"Ethan Grant, you better tell me—"

His words cut off midway.

The door opened.

And the person standing there was not Ethan.

It was Jasper Warren.

Edic froze.

In the next second, he sprang to his feet, hastily pulling out his handkerchief to wipe the sudden sweat forming on his forehead.

"CEO Warren ... it’s you. Please—please come in," he said, stepping out from behind his desk to receive him personally.

Jasper walked in, his gaze calm ... yet observant, carrying a quiet authority that filled the room effortlessly.

"Did Ethan come here today?" he asked.

Edic nodded quickly. "Yes—yes, he was just here."

Jasper gave a small nod and walked past him, taking a seat on the couch nearby.

Once seated, he looked up at Edic again.

"Has he been making things difficult for you lately?"

For a brief moment, Edic hesitated.

If not for Ethan’s special identity, he might have immediately poured out all his complaints. But remembering the CEO’s instructions to take care of the young man, he restrained himself.

He forced a smile instead.

"Oh, not really," he said lightly. "He never does anything that’s too difficult to handle. I believe I am managing him quite well ... Haha—"

"Really?"

Jasper raised a brow slightly.

The simple reaction was enough to make Edic swallow nervously.

The way Jasper looked at him made it nearly impossible to maintain the façade.

In the end, he gave up.

"Well ... CEO Warren," he began carefully, "most of the time, he is manageable. But sometimes ... his requests go beyond my principles, so I can’t—"

"What did he ask you to do?"

Jasper interrupted directly. His tone wasn’t exactly harsh, but it did carried a firmness that left no room for evasion.
