Chapter 26: Tiger Seal
The item Long Chen was holding turned out to be a scroll that taught how to train high-tier troops, the Yellow Turban Lancers. It provided detailed instructions on how to train them, but unfortunately, this scroll was only the first part. It mentioned that Yellow Turban Lancers could advance to become third-tier troops, Yellow Turban Warriors, in the later stages of training. However, the specific methods were hidden in the second part of the scroll, which was still missing.
Among the tattered pages was a yellow-glowing token known as a Tiger Seal.
The Tiger Seal was a special item, and it was required to recruit high-tier or special troops. The one Long Chen had in his possession bore the seal of the Yellow Turbans.
[Name]: Yellow Turban Lancer Tiger Seal
[Quality]: Second-tier troop seal (can advance to third-tier)
[Status]: Bound Effect: Can recruit second-tier troops, Yellow Turban Lancers – known for their immense strength and bravery
[Attributes]: Activates hidden potential, raising maximum values for Strength and Stamina by +5.
[Recruitment Conditions]: Requires +30 monthly grain and is limited to the use of large hammers...
Long Chen was filled with joy. With this Tiger Seal and the first part of the scroll, he would be able to train the second-tier troops, Yellow Turban Lancers. This, combined with his golden talent, [Dragon and Phoenix Among Men], would greatly boost their combat capabilities. If he ever had the opportunity to obtain the second part of the scroll in the future, he could even advance Yellow Turban Lancers to third-tier troops, Yellow Turban Warriors.
Apart from these gains, Long Chen’s inventory also contained a blue-glowing piece of equipment, which had dropped from Wu Ba after defeating him.
[Blue-Grade Superior Weapon]: Flaming Lion Blade (Attack +30, Passive: Inflicts burning effect, continuous damage...)
While this was a higher-grade blue equipment, Long Chen already had the Blood-Drinking Blade, which suited him well. He didn’t need to switch weapons, especially considering this wasn’t an orange-tier epic item. However, he could sell this piece of equipment to other players. Blue equipment was quite rare among the different races, and it could fetch a good amount of resources.
So Long Chen posted a message in the state chat room.
[Sword Wind]: "Selling blue-grade superior weapon, Flame Lion Blade (attributes...), accepting resource exchange or special blueprints... interested parties please PM..."
This message had an impact as it caused quite a stir among the Yuzhou players.
"Oh my, it’s Long Chen again, and he’s selling blue equipment, and the effects are surprisingly excellent!"
"I don’t even have a piece of green equipment at the moment! The big shot is already selling blue equipment... I’m crying in the restroom."
.....
As usual, Long Chen, the pragmatist, didn’t pay much attention to these compliments. He left the chat room and focused on his current tasks.
After several hours had passed, Long Chen and his group finally finished looting the Yellow Turban stronghold, reaping considerable profits.
.....
Inside the central military tent.
All eyes were on Long Chen with admiration and praise.
Wang Yun gave special treatment to Long Chen, allowing him to sit at the upper end, second only to himself.
Wang Yun took a sip of tea and said, "Jue Ming, this battle that wiped out Wu Ba’s forces was all thanks to you. Rest assured, I have already sent a report to the court, and the court will surely bestow rewards upon you."
Long Chen clasped his fists and expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, Your Excellency, for your kind words. I am deeply grateful."
The other civil and military officials all looked at Long Chen with a mix of envy and admiration. To gain the favor of the provincial governor was a great opportunity for promotion and wealth.
Wang Yun then asked, with a hint of curiosity, "However, I have one more question. How were you able to accurately locate Wu Ba’s hiding places? It is said that Wu Ba had eight different hideouts. How did you manage to find them all?"
Long Chen paused for a moment and then said, "Your Excellency, it was a fortunate coincidence. When I first arrived in Yuzhou, I wiped out a group of Yellow Turban remnants. The leader of that group, whom I captured, revealed all of Wu Ba’s hiding places. That’s how we achieved today’s victory."
"I see. Well done, my wise nephew! Your meticulous planning led the enemy commander into a trap without him realizing it! Here, I raise a toast to you."
Long Chen replied modestly, "I dare not accept all the credit. It was Your Excellency’s wise command and the bravery and skill of the other generals." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
This gesture of his was meant to show goodwill and helped dissipate much of the enmity in the eyes of the civil and military officials.
.....
At nightfall, in the mansion of the Governor of Yu Province.
Wang Yun and Long Chen both sat at the table, enjoying the graceful dance of the court dancers in the courtyard.
Since there was no alcohol in the military camp during the day, Wang Yun invited Long Chen to his mansion in the evening to have a drink.
By now, Wang Yun’s face was flushed, and he was quite drunk.
Wang Yun was already a bit tipsy, but Long Chen didn’t feel much effect from the alcohol.
"Dear nephew, I’m getting old, and my tolerance for alcohol is not what it used to be when I was young," Wang Yun said with a wobbly hand.
"With your drinking capacity, you probably weren’t much better when you were young," Long Chen mumbled to himself.
"Nephew, it’s late tonight. Why don’t you stay in my mansion for the night and return tomorrow? How about that?" Wang Yun suggested.
"Thank you for your kind offer, but I won’t trouble you, I’ll be on my way," Long Chen politely declined.
"Nephew, are you not going to listen to me anymore?" Wang Yun pretended to be angry as he swayed.
Then, he called out to the door, "Chan’er! Chan’er!"
After two calls, Diaochan walked in leisurely. Her captivating figure and cool demeanor made Long Chen think twice about rushing back to his own mansion.
"Adoptive father! Adoptive father, why have you had so much to drink!" Diaochan furrowed her delicate eyebrows and tried to support Wang Yun.
Unexpectedly, Wang Yun waved her hand repeatedly and said, "Chan’er, quickly take Lord Long to a good guest room. Don’t delay!"
Hearing this, Diaochan cast a quick glance at Long Chen and then quickly averted her gaze, her snow-white neck turning pink.
"As you wish, adoptive father."
After a respectful bow, Diaochan ordered one of the maids to take Wang Yun back to his room.
Then she gave a graceful bow to Long Chen and said, "Mister, please follow me."
"Alright!" Long Chen’s eyes lit up, and he didn’t refuse any further. He followed Diaochan out of the hall.
Following closely behind Diaochan, Long Chen once again took in the fragrance that he couldn’t forget, as if he were in a dream in the immortal realm, making him linger and forget to leave.
