Chapter 33: "Is this fine...?"
"What does your ability do..."
Leo inquired of the man’s ability.
"My ability enables me to influence the fighting spirits of my companions, and against my opponents,it reduces their battle strength by ten percent..."
The middle aged man,Fort, responded as he activated the aura to demonstrate.
"Wow...!" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Hu exclaimed.
Both he and Leo had felt their blood boil and had the urge to rash out and fight.
"This is crazy..."
Leo thought as he flexed his arms,he could tell that though he felt that his body was filled with strength and he could battle for hours on end, nothing had really changed. Physically, his strength had not changed.
"Perspection and influence..."
Leo thought, just like Fort’s had explained, this was the only logical explanation.
Fort’s ability did not increase his companions battle power, but influenced their minds, giving them a different perspection or view on their strength.
"Why does everyone else has a broken skill...?"
Leo sighed,as he decided to focus on the crucial matter. Setting up camp.
"It is good you are here..."
"I will need your help with a couple of things..."
"Am here to serve the young lord..."
Fort respectfully said with a bow.
"Though I would like to hear your story,we can save it for dinner as there is a lot to be done..."
Leo said.
"First,we need to fill the partionings with small stones and press them..."
Leo informed as he pointed at the foundation they had worked on with Hu. With the extra pair of hands, the time the two would have taken would be reduced by alot. And thanks to the earlier system sweep, they did not have to move around gathering small stones, as there were small piles of stones around, enough to fill the partionings and leave some more.
All they had to do was find a means to transport the stones.
"A cart..."
The image of a cart floated in Leo’s mind. He knew what was needed to make one and how to make one,but as of how he knew this,or anything else, like the making of the ash paste and the items he had crafted was a huge blank to him. Everything time he thought about it,he would end with a headache.
"But there is no time..."
Leo decided against making one,as they opted for the previous three empty uncommon ranked chests.
For two good hours, the three worked in synchronized harmony.
They fetched the small stones, filled up the partionings, one at a time, and used the thick pieces of wood to press the stones into an even layer.
When they were done, it was late noon, and Leo decided to make some ash paste for the floor, but this task was delegated to Hu,as he and the middle aged man sat at a corner.
"Young lord, why don’t you let this subordinate forge one for you...?"
The middle aged man requested, but Leo refused him. Actually,Leo had refused him a dozen time but the man was quite stubborn.
Earlier on,Leo had asked him for some forging advice.
He recalled how happy he had been at that time,as the young lord was interested in forging. He had thought to himself, that if he taught the young lord well, his future place in the young lord’s territory would be great.
It should be known that the man came from a tier one city. And there,an advanced blacksmith like him was not a rarity, infact, there were hundreds of them. In the city, his skills were quite shabby as compared to the rest of the advanced blacksmith, and he had even being forced to close his smithy and work as a guard at his clan’s smithy. This had brought him shame, but who asked him to be born with no talent for smithing.
But now,he had the opportunity to shine.
As an advanced blacksmith,he could forge all common ranked equipment as for tier ranked equipment,he had a fifty percent chance at forging a tier one one star equipment,a twenty percent at forging a tier one two star equipment and a measley ten percent chance at forging a tier one three star equipment.
His low success rate was a joke as compared to other advanced blacksmith.
The lesson had started with Fort explaining the basic principles of forging to Leo.
"Is this fine...?"
Leo asked as he held up the mould he had been making. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"That is perfect young lord..."
The middle aged man said after inspecting the smoothness of the mould. He felt that it was a little bit uneven but did not dare to correct the young lord. Though the young lord refused his help and insisted on him doing it by himself, the middle aged man decided to pass his skills to the young lord. And the only way to make him learn was by letting him face failure a couple of times,as it is through trial and failure that a great blacksmith is born.
In smithing, the process of learning is just like the forging of iron. It had to be mined, smelted and forged. But what Fort did not understand was that Leo was not interested in becoming a blacksmith, but rather quickly filling up the quota of crafted rudimentary items as to advance his class. He still had ninety items that needed crafting.
Unlike Fort, who had blacksmith as his profession and warrior as his class,Leo had Craftsman as his class. The Craftsman class was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Leo could be a carpenter today,a smithy tomorrow,a tanner at night, a tailor after breakfast and a mason at noon. To him,he did not have to focus on a single profession that needed crafting or forging. But what he failed to understand was why Potionist appeared as his profession.
Potionist could be considered as a craft, and thus should have fallen in his class. As to why the system categorized it under profession,Leo did not know.
An hour after Leo started on his first mold, the middle aged man had become numb, and hence he had left Leo to his own obsessiveness and went to help Hu with pouring out the ash paste over the pressed stones. The two had worked till dusk, but still ,Leo was hunched over in his corner, curving out one mold after the other.
