Chapter 28: Herb’s Manual
"And before I could react,it had rammed me...!"
Her tone dropped.
"I stumbled and fell down the cliff...!"
She was now shaking, frightened by the memory of her fall. Leo moved closer, and since he was too short,he could only reached for her left palm, and rubbed it warmly in comfort.
"Take your time..."
He whispered to her,his arm still in hers.
The young woman gave him a charming smile, before calming down.
"I screamed on my way down..."
"I said my prayers..."
The young woman paused for suspense.
"Damn...!"
Leo mentally cursed,by now,it was clear to him that this young woman was quite a story teller. She knew well that her story had piqued their interest, and decided to prolong as to leave them hanging on each word of hers.
"Mmh...!"
"Then...?"
Hu and Gemini urged her on.
"It seems am not the only one..."
Leo smiled as he let go of her hand.
"I fell..."
The young woman calmly said.
"Why are you looking at me like someone who has grown a second nose...?"
The young woman timidly inquired as she touched her nose. The look on the three was a mixture of impatient, angry and frustrated, and she liked it.
"Damn woman...!"
Leo coldly cursed at her.
"You fell..."
Leo said.
"You did not die..."
Hu added.
"How did you survive...?"
Gemini asked. To these three,it was already clear that the young woman was playing with them.
"I woke up hours later in this wide valley..."
Seeing their looks, the young woman decided not to procrastinate anymore.
"There were buildings in the valley, though most were broken down and in ruins,a couple of them were intact..."
Leo’s interest rose a notch higher.
"I like where this is going..."
He thought as he gave the young woman an urging look.
"It was from one of these buildings that I got these two books..."
The young woman said as she untied her small bundle and rummaged through, picking out a tattered book. It was more of leather parchment bonded together.
"After studying them, I learnt a lot about herbs and potions..."
Leo received the two books.
"These this are quite old..."
He thought as he flipped through one of the manuals. This one was a worn out, earth scented manual bound in faded green leather. The pages were filled with simple sketches and handwritten notes.
"Inspect..."
He murmured.
