Chapter 41: Glacial White Tiger Beast

Following the battle of Lin Yuan, the final brawl of the first round, the day ended with eight victorious competitors.

"Tomorrow, the grand competition resumes!" Luo Zhen announced, backing toward the VIP stand.

All the disciples sprawled out of the academy sluggishly. Lin Yuan, Chen Ming and Chen Yu Ming ambled toward the Chen Family.

"Proud of you, my son!" Chen Wenshu spoke triumphantly, taking two steps forward toward his approaching son. He grabbed Chen Ming by his shoulders.

And, Chen Ruolan soothed furrowing Chen Yu Ming calmly.

"You fought bravely... That brat Gu Shiyan is some piece of shit. Don’t care about him, Chen Yu Ming," Chen Ruolan hugged, rubbing Chen Yu Ming’s back pleasantly.

Lin Yuan stood calmly, watching them with an unconcerned expression. ’Huh... Having a family is good, but it was too good to have none. Even though this Lin Yuan brat has a family... Sigh, they only wanted destined ones. Their love was only deemed to last for a mere rejection. Thank God, I got rejected and relieved from that family.’ Lin Yuan thought, a faint smirk lingering on his face. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"Let go, elder Chen Wenshu," Lin Yuan beseeched earnestly, waving his hands once. "I think Chen Ming and Chen Yu Ming are exhausted from the battle."

"Yes!" "Yes!"

Chen Ruolan and Chen Wenshu murmured synchronously, starting walking out of the academy.

"You are similar to the Silent Wanderer, Lin Yuan," Chen Ruolan muttered, darting his calm eyes toward Lin Yuan.

’Silent Wanderer? Who the fuck is that?’ Lin Yuan frowned, diving into memories of him. ’I heard this name from many of the spectators!’

Lin Yuan didn’t answer Chen Ruolan. He just let out a calm, soothing smile. And after a few seconds, Noir’s consciousness found the whereabouts of the Silent Wanderer. Many stories are told by Lin Cangyuan, Lin Zhentian to Lin Yuan and his brother.

’Is the Silent Wanderer a legendary rumor, or is he truly real? They say he is a multi-beast cultivator, and I desperately need to find detailed inscriptions of him. But, everyone in this town only knows the familiar folktales. My grandfather always told me that hidden sect libraries, which are accessible only to Sect Leaders hold the true information. I must cultivate faster and choose my sect wisely so I can uncover his story.’

Lin Yuan walked with the Chen family toward the shimmering Green Hollow City until he reached his home.

"Lin Yuan, I heard there is a competi—"

"Shut it," Lin Yuan interrupted, cutting Lin Fengyu off as he walked nonchalantly toward his room. "You didn’t come, so don’t ask. Stop dragging it out." frёewebηovel.cѳm

Lin Fengyu stood frozen, unable to say another word. He clicked his tongue in sheer anger. Lin Yuan’s arrogance brought fierce rage in Lin Fengyu, but he stood still.

"I will never care for you again, you arrogant bastard!" Lin Fengyu murmured, walking out of the house.

Lin Yuan sat down, calmly crossing his legs. He pulled out a bag from beneath his bed filled with Beast Essence stones. He had stored them away upon reaching the Peak Stage of the Baby Beast Realm, as they could not be used to break through to the Spirit Beast Realm. Now that he had successfully ascended to the Spirit Beast Realm, he could resume his normal cultivation. Meeting specific requirements was only necessary when breaking through to a new realm such as feeding a Mid-Tier Food or Rank 4 Beast Cores to Core Beast to attain the Spirit Beast Realm.

Lin Yuan commanded his turtle out his ring. A faint shimmering green essence swirled around his ring, and instantly a turtle appeared on the floor. Lin Yuan’s eyes widened, seeing the crawling turtle on floor toward Beast stones. The turtle had grown a bit... It was nearly sixteen inches wide, trails of runes appeared on the turtle shell.

"Humph... evolved... hahaha," Lin Yuan smiled, witnessing the turtle consuming the bag full of Beast Essence stones. They are nearly a hundred and fifty stones. "I really want to see the final, elegant stage of my turtle’s evolution."

A few minutes passed. The turtle consumed all the essence stones, a graceful smile danced across its mouth. Lin Yuan can sense the happiness of the turtle beast.

"After this competition..." Lin Yuan murmured, taking the turtle into his head. He slowly smeared the turtle’s shell, and the runes shimmered with a faint green color. "... I will try to tame another beast. I will bring you a companion, my dear turtle!"

Saying that, Lin Yuan closed his eyes sluggishly and concentrated his consciousness inward. The pale silver beast essence inside his aperture, which had been still until now, started to swirl around deliberately. Naturally, it will take time to break through the stages, but the turtle had now devoured all the essence stones, and the bond between them was truly magnificent. After a few hours of cultivation, the pale green essence pool turned a leafy green, raising the beast essence in his aperture to 25%. Lin Yuan easily broke through to the Spirit Beast Realm - Mid Stage. But, the breakthrough left him completely out of food, spirit stones, and beast cores. Despite his empty pockets, he was now officially the strongest cultivator in the academy.

"Hahaha! I am now at the Mid-Stage and the strongest in the academy," Lin Yuan whispered, laughing triumphantly. "Now, let’s see who can stop me from winning the Grand Academy Competition! Hahaha!"

Lin Yuan then commanded his turtle to ring again before climbing onto his bed for a well-deserved nap. He slowly closed his eyes, recalling the tales of the Silent Wanderer from his memories.

"The Silent Wanderer..." Lin Zhentian began, darting his eyes toward Lin Yuan and Lin Fengyu. He walked onto the stone floor of the Clan Training Hall. "...is a legend of the Origin World. Some people say he was born alongside this world. Others say he is immortal."

Sitting on the ground, his sons glanced up at him, their faces flared up with pure eagerness and anxiety.

"He is a magnificent cultivator who is deemed to be the strongest and wisest man to have ever lived in the Origin World." Lin Zhentian’s voice boomed, his chest puffing out with pride. "His sayings are famous and inspirational, mainly the one I liked the most is: Thou shall live to thy will. Thou shall die to thy will. The path between life and death belongs to thee alone."

Lin Zhentian’s sons’ eyes shimmered with pure ecstasy. Lin Yuan and Lin Fengyu murmured the saying once.

"Umm... Yeah... I will tell you the epic tale — how the Silent Wanderer tamed the legendary White Tiger beast of ice attribute." Lin Zhentian boasted, his voice glimmering with prideful arrogance. "On his long journey, the Silent Wanderer reached the Xuehuan continent — a massive continent covered with wide snow, jagged glacial mountains, ice-dungeons and ice-ruins, famous for ice-type and water-type beasts. The Silent Wanderer heard that there is a Glacial White Tiger wandering around the ice-dungeons of the Glacial Azure Pavilion mountain. After a thirteen days of search, the Silent Wanderer enter into his final ice-dungeon remained in

the mountain. His body pondered with the various beast aura’s — Boar, Blood Serpent, Dark panther and mysterious ring beast."

The memories are lingering in Lin Yuan’s brain, as he gradually felt it was happening in front of him.

Glacial White Tiger was a manic creature. Unlike standard spirit beasts, it was filled with frozen, murderous intent. But for the Silent Wanderer, it was a masterpiece of nature. He understood the beast. He bound it to his soul. One decisive thought filled his mind. "The stronger the beast’s murderous intent and wildness, the greater the bond if I could tame it" He sighed. As he entered the deep dungeon, the wind suddenly froze; it was as if something wildly powerful had petrified the air.

The Silent Wanderer stopped, his eyes widened as he focused on the ridge in front of him. With loud, clanking foot steps, emerged a colossal figure. It was a Glacial White Tiger. It was a skewering figure of twenty feet tall, its pristine white fur wavered against the snowy air with pitch-black stripes covered across the massive body. Its eyes are like twin pools of glacial fire, and a thick cloud is withering as the massive beast takes a heavy breath for every second, instantly freezing into crystals in the air.

The beast took slow, predatory steps toward the lone human in its sight.

"Humph... Sigh... Hahaha... To dream of conquering the mortal world is mere madness," the Silent Wanderer giggled, clutching his chest while laughing hard. "But when a man conquers his own heart and understands the Grand Dao of the world, then it is the true beginning of immortality."

The beast grunted in sheer anger, witnessing the defiant laughter of the human. It let out a growling roar that rumbled across the dungeon, rattling the nearby ice shards and stones. The Silent Wanderer silently focused on the beast. He knew the intensity of the killing intent radiating from the creature. The tiger lunged forward, covering the distance in massive leaps. It leapt high, swinging its claw into a devastating slash aimed at the Silent Wanderer.

As the massive paw swung down, the Silent Wanderer waited until the second before impact. With a smooth pivot, he stepped into the blind spot of the tiger’s swing. The claw missed his shoulder by a mere inch, the wind pressure tearing a small slit in his robe but leaving his flesh untouched.

Using the tiger’s own forward momentum against it, the Wanderer lightly tapped the side of the beast’s massive foreleg, gathering pure gold essence energy into his palm. He was a Peak Stage cultivator of the Divine Beast Realm. Ascensions from the True Beast Realm were not as simple as those in the lower realms; it required breaking through three stages to attain the Peak Stage — Initial Stage, Mid Stage, Upper Stage, and Peak Stage. The pure gold essence was a true testament to the mighty power of a Divine Beast Realm Peak Stage master.

Whoosh! Bang!

The beast instantly lost its balance, tumbling forward into a series of rolls before slamming into the massive ice stone and shattering it into pieces. The tiger jolted its head, sluggishly standing up and seeing the strolling human toward it. The tiger whipped its tail sharply, tearing through the air in an intent to cut the Silent Wanderer into two pieces.

The Silent Wanderer leapt slightly, hovering mid-air, and brought down an elbow strike infused with beast essence onto the beast’s massive back. The devastating impact shattered its bones, paralyzing it so it could no longer stand. But he had no intention of killing it.

The beast went into a violent frenzy, spasming on the ground and letting out wet moans of pain. Then, the Silent Wanderer deliberately placed his hand on the back of the Glacial White Tiger.

"I do not intend to hurt you, my dear tiger," the Silent Wanderer murmured, injecting the pure gold essence into the wound to soothe the pain. "I only wanted the time to talk with you, but you were too aggressive and insisted on fighting your future master. Hahaha... But it’s okay. A beast should know its master’s strength."

The spasming beast grew still as it listened to his words, submitting to him entirely. The Silent Wanderer then crouched in front of the creature, concentrating his consciousness into his aperture. The eighty-five percent beast essence pool within the aperture swirled, injecting itself into the beast core to fuse his taming soul’s kindness into the creature’s wild nature. In the blink of an eye, the tiger’s face shimmered with calmness. Its massive figure vanished into thin air, leaving an elegant tattoo upon the Silent Wanderer’s chest.

"This is how the Silent Wanderer tamed a Legendary Beast with perfect precision." Lin Zhentian’s words boomed in Lin Yuan’s memory before he fell into a deep slumber. His mind lingered only on the great words of the Silent Wanderer: ’A beast should know its master’s strength.’
