Chapter 349: Chapter 271: Slept With (2)
"It might be an issue with the breed," Feng Mountain explained vaguely. Just then, a female employee walked toward them, holding her nose and carrying a bucket.
"Boss!"
"What are you doing with that?" Feng Mountain asked, looking at the bucket. He thought he could smell vomit.
The female employee said helplessly, "Erica, Demi, and Jenny got drunk at the party last night. They were throwing up from midnight until this morning."
Feng Mountain frowned.
’This is too sudden.’
’And here I was, planning to investigate who slept with me last night.’
’But my three main suspects all got drunk at the party.’
’And they have witnesses, physical evidence... so many alibis.’
’Was it really a dream?’
’No way. It’s so raw it’s practically peeling. It can’t be that I just jerked off all night.’
’Right, there’s still Maria and Tammy.’
’It’s not impossible for it to have been one of them.’
Just in case, Feng Mountain asked again, "Are you sure they got drunk at the party? Did you see it with your own eyes?"
The female employee nodded, a confused look on her face.
"That’s right. After you left, Sister Jenny, Erica, and Demi were having a great time drinking. We were the ones who took them back to their mini-cabins."
"Alright, take good care of them." Feng Mountain had no choice but to believe it for now. He gestured for the employee to get back to her work.
Beside him, Snow also noticed that something was off with Feng Mountain.
"Feng, you haven’t been right since you woke up. What happened last night?"
"It’s nothing. Let’s go to the dining hall."
Feng Mountain waved his hand dismissively and walked to the dining hall, still puzzled.
Because everyone had partied too hard last night, the camp employees were all a bit sluggish.
Jenny didn’t show up even after breakfast was over. Resigned, Feng Mountain decided to take care of his other business first.
Just then, Yves, David, and Feng Jun also walked into the dining hall.
Feng Mountain remembered Milyukov mentioning last night that they were going to move the Mammoth bones to the camp’s fire pit to be assembled today.
So he told Yves and the others to go help out at the excavation pit after they finished breakfast. He would join them after showing Snow around the Crown Territory.
After coordinating, the two groups went their separate ways.
Finding a snowmobile, Feng Mountain took Snow and left the camp.
For the first stop, they went to the Tundra. The lush mosses were vibrant with life. If not for the polar night, Snow would have thought it was summer.
Feng Mountain gestured in a large circle over the Tundra.
"I hired a professional survey team to investigate. The area of burning subterranean shale gas in this valley is constantly expanding outward, which means the area of moss will also expand. The current area is more than enough for those tigers to run around in."
"The territory is certainly large enough," Snow agreed with a nod. For tigers, the most important thing is their range. If the area is too small, it can have a severe psychological impact on them.
Immediately, Snow raised his camera and began taking all sorts of pictures of the Tundra.
「Second stop.」
Feng Mountain took Snow to the Bear Tribe’s camp.
A simple fence had been built here. Inside the enclosure, herds of cattle and sheep were contentedly lowering their heads to graze on the moss.
The Bear Tribe members in charge of the livestock were opening the fence gate. Several tribesmen on horseback were waving whips, driving the cattle and sheep out of the enclosure.
"Khilla." A tribesman rode up to Feng Mountain.
Feng Mountain smiled and asked, "Where are you all headed?"
While controlling the Quarter Horse beneath him, the tribesman said, "We’re taking the livestock to the eastern pasture. These cattle and sheep eat too much. We have to move them to a new pasture every day, or else they’ll eat all the grass sooner or later."
"Go on, then. The grass seed will arrive in a few days, and we can start planting." Feng Mountain nodded, reached out to pat an Angus cattle passing by, then turned to Snow. "This is my new ranch. The beef it produces can not only supply the dining hall but also feed the tigers."
’Using Angus beef to feed tigers.’
’The owners of barbecue restaurants would go ballistic if they heard that.’
’He’d eaten the freshly slaughtered beef last night, and its flavor was no worse than what you’d get at a Michelin restaurant.’
As for Feng Mountain’s extravagance, Snow could only describe it as nouveau riche.
But admiration was one thing; he couldn’t forget his actual job. He immediately raised his camera and took a flurry of pictures of the ranch’s cattle and sheep. These photos would all be compiled into a file and submitted to the wildlife management bureau for review.
「Third stop.」
Feng Mountain rode the snowmobile through the Melted Snow River Valley to the edge of the ice-covered Far North Tundra. He raised a hand, pointing toward the darkness-shrouded distance.
"Everything from here to the Colville River belongs to the Crown Territory as private land. I’ve put up territory warning signs, so people generally don’t trespass. The animals can live happily on the land without worrying about bad people."
"Could you tell me the precise area of the territory? Including it in the file will definitely be a plus." Snow looked up, but due to the polar night, he couldn’t get a clear sense of the Crown Territory’s size.
Hearing this question, Feng Mountain scratched his head in frustration.
"Uh, it’s about 500,000 acres, or 2,000 square kilometers. I haven’t even explored all of it myself. The territory is just too big."
500,000 acres!!
2,000 square kilometers!!
Snow’s jaw dropped. He only snapped out of it when a blast of frigid wind shot into his mouth, freezing his saliva and stinging his tongue.
"Feng, you might be the biggest private landowner in all of Alaska."
"It’s nothing special. The place is big, sure, but it’s all just wilderness. Not much value to it." Feng Mountain waved his hand humbly. "Come on, I’ll take you somewhere else to see a couple of dogs going through their rebellious phase."
With that said, the snowmobile started up again, charging into the Moonlight Forest and weaving quickly between the trees.
Soon, they arrived at a snowy clearing.
Just as Feng Mountain stopped the vehicle, Snow saw a white, dog-like head pop out of the snow accumulated at the roots of a large, dead, fallen tree in the distance.
’A dog?’
As an employee of a wildlife rescue station, Snow could naturally identify breeds of dogs.
But the head in front of him clearly belonged to a wolf.
And not just any wolf, but a Taiga Wolf, the second most ferocious creature in the Far North Region—second only to the brown bear.
Most importantly, Taiga Wolves rarely travel alone. Seeing one meant there was definitely a pack nearby.
The two of them had come out without any defensive weapons. Facing a pack of Taiga Wolves was no different from suicide.
Snow shivered, grabbing the snowmobile’s handlebars in fear as he whispered urgently.
"Feng, there’s a pack of Taiga Wolves here! Run!"
’Run?’
’Run my ass.’
Feng Mountain ignored the petrified Snow, hopped off the snowmobile, and shouted toward the wolf’s head.
"Lao Liu, what are you doing hiding in the snow?!"
At that, the white wolf’s head emerged from the snowdrift. It shook the snow from its fur, curled its body, and wagged its tail, half-crouching as it padded over to Feng Mountain’s side and let out a wronged whimper.
"Where are Prince and Princess? And Xiong Da and Xiong Er?" Feng Mountain patted Lao Liu’s head.
WHIMPER! ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
Lao Liu turned its head toward the distant forest and let out a series of howls. Then, it ran back to the large tree root, dug away the snow to reveal the entrance to a den, and crawled inside.
A moment later, a white furball was pushed out of the den.
The furball impatiently swatted its paws, trying to push Lao Liu away and crawl back into the den.
Lao Liu didn’t dare to retaliate, merely dodging while blocking the furball from getting back in.
Feng Mountain couldn’t stand to watch anymore and let out a deliberate cough or two.
Hearing the sound, the white furball instantly froze like an ice sculpture, then slowly turned around.
Seeing Feng Mountain’s stern face, it immediately pretended to be the victim. Limping on one leg, it crawled toward Feng Mountain, letting out pitiful yelps.
Seeing the white furball from his seat on the snowmobile, Snow’s mind was completely blown.
If he wasn’t mistaken, that was a Polar Bear cub.
’This is impossible!’
The Crown Territory was located in the Far North Tundra Inland Region, hundreds of kilometers from the Arctic Ocean. How could there be a Polar Bear cub here?
Moreover, a Polar Bear cub was together with a Taiga Wolf.
The two species were natural enemies that would try to kill each other on sight. How could they be getting along so harmoniously?
AWOO!!
The Polar Bear cub cried pitifully as it crawled to Feng Mountain’s leg. It pawed gently at his pant leg with one little paw and pointed at Lao Liu with the other, tattling that Lao Liu had been bullying it.
Lao Liu, on the other hand, looked completely dejected.
Its downturned eyebrows drooped even more.
’Who in the Crown Territory would dare to bully these two little tyrants?’
’They get to eat all the good food first, they’ve taken over the den, and I’m only fit to sleep in the snow.’
’This wolf has a hard life!’
Of course, Feng Mountain knew the cub was just acting. He’d seen this trick from Prince several times; it was completely useless on him.
Noticing a black spot on the corner of the cub’s mouth, he knew it was Xiong Da. He gave it a light kick and said helplessly,
"Stop your howling. You haven’t learned a single good thing, but you’ve perfectly mastered all of Prince’s shamelessness."
AWOO!
Seeing that trick didn’t work, Xiong Da immediately switched to acting cute and spoiled, trying to get away with it by being adorable.
But Feng Mountain was immune to this tactic as well. He looked at Lao Liu.
"Get Xiong Er out here too. It’s not a brown bear, what’s it doing hiding in a den pretending to hibernate!"
