Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Healing Bonds(1)

SONIA’S POV

He pulled me into the bed and switched positions so he was on top of me. His weight felt both comforting and intoxicating, pressing me gently into the mattress as his body heat seeped through the thin fabric of my gown. The solid warmth of him made my heart race wildly, every point of contact sending sparks dancing across my skin.

Slowly, he placed a kiss from my forehead down to my chin, his lips lingering with deliberate tenderness. I laughed in ecstasy when his lips travelled back to my forehead, but became deliciously ticklish when he licked my ears, the warm, wet stroke sending a sharp shiver straight down my spine and straight to my core.

"I’ve never tasted someone so delicious," he confessed in a low, husky voice that vibrated against my skin, making my breath hitch.

"How do I taste?" I found myself shamelessly asking, my voice breathy and barely above a whisper. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was, but something had fundamentally changed between us. All it took was a near-death experience for him to be less hostile toward me. Maybe I should have tried dying in the beginning.

"Like—" he paused and lifted his head in thought, his dark eyes searching mine with an intensity that made my pulse thunder in my ears. "I don’t know." He gave up after just a few seconds of thinking, his gaze dropping to my lips with clear hunger before returning to my eyes.

His lips returned to my face, kissing all over it with slow, deliberate presses, my cheeks, the tip of my nose, the sensitive corner of my mouth as if he was memorizing every inch of me, savoring the moment.

"You’re so beautiful, Sonia. Every time I see you, I get more surprised by your beauty."

I giggled and brought my hand to my face shyly, heat flooding my cheeks.

"Don’t cover yourself. Allow my eyes to feast on you," he said, his voice rougher now as he gently pulled my hands away, his thumbs brushing the sensitive skin of my wrists in a way that made my stomach flutter.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" I asked, knowing I could possibly ruin the mood, but needing to understand this shift between us.

"Because I can."

His lips dipped to the strings holding the chest part of my gown together, and he kissed the fabric there, his hot breath fanning across the swell of my breasts. My heart slammed against my ribs as desire pooled low in my belly.

"You have no idea how much I want to rip that open. To plunge my canines deep into your chest and carve the surface with my name."

"I know what that means," I said, my eyes widening as a fresh wave of heat rushed through me.

"You do? What does it mean?" He asked, his gaze darkening with raw want.

"I read somewhere that it’s called branding. But if you do that, you could never get rid of me."

"Who says I want to?"

My mouth hung open at his response, and he used that opportunity to kiss me deeply, his tongue sliding against mine in a slow, possessive dance that left me dizzy and aching for more.

"I can’t get enough of your lips," he said, pulling back just enough to speak before claiming my mouth again, deeper this time. His hand slid down my side, fingers flexing against my waist as if he was barely holding himself back from taking everything.

"I like when you kiss me." I confessed, my fingers threading through his hair, pulling him impossibly closer.

"Why?"

"Because my energy is renewed."

"So you’re basically using me?" He cocked a perfect brow, a teasing smirk playing on his lips, and I knew if my wolf could see him right now, she would have purred loudly with approval.

"It’s not like that," I replied shyly, avoiding his eyes even as my body betrayed me.

"Tell me something, Sonia. What are the things you’re curious about?"

"In relation to?" I creased my brow in confusion, though my body was already reacting strongly to the direction of the conversation.

"Between mates. What do you think they do?"

A deep blush crept up my face when I realised what he was talking about. My thighs pressed together instinctively.

"Don’t ask me that," I said, trying to cover my face again, but his hands were fast, pinning my wrists gently above my head.

"Nah, don’t do that. I want to see every shy line. You intrigue me."

He lifted my hands and placed a slow, open-mouthed kiss directly on my palm, his tongue flicking against the sensitive skin there, sending sparks shooting through my entire body.

"I don’t know a lot, obviously."

"Would you like to know?" He asked in a sinister, teasing tone, his eyes gleaming with dark promise as he hovered over me.

"You’re being devious."

"You don’t like that?"

"I—"

He kissed me again to stop my words, deeper and more demanding this time, as his hand went to the strings. With his fingers, he began to loosen them slowly, teasingly, and I rooted for him in my mind, my breath coming faster and shallower.

Just when the strings came undone and cool air kissed my heated skin, a loud bang sounded on the door.

He paused his movement, tension coiling through his powerful body as he turned his head.

"I swear to the moon goddess—" the curse faded as another bang vibrated through the room.

He pulled away from me and rose to his feet, frustration and unfulfilled desire clear in the way his jaw clenched and his chest rose and fell heavily.

"I’ll be right back," he said, and I instantly felt empty without his warmth pressing me down.

I wanted his body weight on me. He was heavy, but I didn’t mind. Not at all. The ache he left behind throbbed insistently.

"What are you doing, Sonia? You should be worried about your missing wolf, or trying to remember how your naked body ended up beside Moon’s," I whispered after Ramon had left the room, pressing my thighs together again as the lingering desire refused to fade.

There were so many questions yet to be answered. It was a miracle Ramon easily believed my innocence. I expected him to throw me into a cell and have his entire pack call me a liar.

Instead, so far he had kissed me. He called me beautiful. He even insinuated he didn’t want to let me go.

I turned to the pillow and buried my face in its softness. My legs kicked excitedly as I celebrated the beginning of conquering the heart of the heartless Alpha Ramon.

Suddenly, I heard an unsettling noise coming from the living room. In panic, I rushed out to help Ramon in case trouble loomed.

However, what I stumbled into showed no signs of trouble. It was just Jenner and Adelaide hysterically crying as they confronted Ramon.

They paused at the same time when they saw me, and their faces went pale as if they had just seen a ghost.

"B-u-t— I thought—" Jenner pointed, moving back in disbelief.

"Daniel said—" Adelaide picked up where she left off, but also couldn’t finish her words.

"Sonia?" Carl called. "Is that really you?"

It didn’t take long for me to figure out what the problem was. They all thought I was dead. It made me wonder just how many people thought that way.

"Sonia? They’re waiting for an answer," Ramon said, his voice still rough from our earlier moment.

"Of course it’s me," I said, and even smiled to show them I was real and standing right there.

"But—" Jenner resumed, but still couldn’t finish her words.

"Why do you take anything Daniel says seriously? For all we know, he’s hallucinating."

Carl walked past Ramon and came straight to me.

"I’m so sorry for sending you out of the clinic," he said and hugged me tightly. "I almost lost my mind when I thought something had happened to you."

I was touched by his affection, and it caused tears to well up in my eyes.

"I’m so glad you care so deeply for me," I said as we pulled apart.

"Are you sure you’re fine? There’s something different about you. I felt it when I hugged you."

I looked to Ramon for approval, and he gave me the go-ahead by slowly nodding his head.

"That’s something I wanted to discuss with you. I can’t feel my wolf," I said. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"You can’t feel your wolf?"

I nodded. "I just feel empty," I explained.

"Oh no," Adelaide gasped, and we all turned to her.
