Chapter 9: Homewrecking Omega

Walter | Three Weeks Later

I sigh as I stand on a chair, carefully packing my shirts onto the top shelf of my walk‑in closet. I designed it to be two stories, with a door linking it directly to my bathroom, and so here I am balancing awkwardly just to reach the upper racks.

I know I shouldn’t complain. This is literally the only labor I do, and even then, I don’t have to. We have beta helpers who come in three times a week to handle everything else such as laundry, cleaning, errands. But I prefer to pack my clothes myself. I’m tired of the helpers mistakenly putting my shirts in everyone else’s closets instead of mine. It’s a small thing, but it matters.

Jumping down from the chair, I pause for a moment, letting my eyes drift to my porcelain collection. It sits safely in a large chest with a white wood base and a glass top, placed at the center of my closet like a shrine. I love those porcelain vases. Their delicate curves and painted blossoms bring light to my otherwise boring, senseless life.

The past two weeks have been odd, odder than usual. Torin has been home more frequently, and the pack, without me of course, has been holding hushed meetings. Right now, they’re gathered in Torin’s study, and I’ve been told I can’t join. I’m still pissed about that. It’s not that I care about the details or want to know what’s happening. I just hate being left out, especially when I know it’s something massive like some secret plan perhaps.

"Shake that booty slowly." A song chimes in the air.

"What is that sound?" I mumble, feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pull it out and see Cinnamon Mum’s caller ID flashing across the screen. My grip tightens. I just know Kei had something to do with my ringtone changing. I’ll grill him about this later. For now, I quickly answer. I shouldn’t keep Torin’s mother waiting.

"H—"

"Walter, my dear boy! I didn’t know what my foolish husband was scheming, but don’t worry. I stand with you. I’ll be right over, and we’ll get that homewrecking Omega out of your house in no time." Yuerna’s voice cuts me off mid‑sentence, sharp and distressed.

I freeze, my brows furrowing. I have no idea what she’s talking about. "Umm... mummy, what ’homewrecking Omega’ are you talking about? I need you to elaborate, please."

"Wait—don’t tell me you don’t know, Walter?" Her voice hitches, and my heart begins pounding faster against my chest.

"Know what, mummy?"

"Your pack has taken a second Omega. Everything has already been finalized on paper. The only thing remaining is the wedding."

I clench the phone so hard my knuckles ache, the ground beneath me seeming to tilt.

"Walter, did you never notice? Old man Spade made them go to the debutant gala two weeks ago, and apparently an Omega took a liking to them. Which is shameful, if you ask me. Why would an Omega willingly enter a pack that already has an Omega?" Yuerna continues her rant, her voice dripping with disdain.

But I can barely hear her. My mind drifts back to that night, when they were all dressed up, when Keion told me it was just a meeting. Of course I didn’t believe him. I thought they were shutting me out again. I never expected it to be this.

"...she’s coming today. I’ll try to be there before she arrives."

Those words snap me back into reality. Today.

"Mo... mommy, I... I need to go." I hang up before she can answer.

I stand there, phone trembling in my hand, unable to breathe. I can’t believe I’ve been here folding laundry like a fool while my life teeters on the edge of collapse.

I rush out of the damn walk‑in closet and storm down the hall toward Torin’s office, my heart pounding so hard it feels like it might break through my ribs. I can’t believe this is happening. My chest burns with rage, my breath sharp and uneven. I don’t bother knocking as I slam the door open so hard it rattles against the wall.

"What the fuck did you guys do?" I shout, my voice echoing through the study.

"Babe, what are you doing here? I told you to stay clear of this room," Oril says in that gentle voice of his, the one that usually makes me want to purr and curl up against his chest. But not today. Today I fight that urge. Today I refuse to be soothed.

"So that you can continue planning my demise in peace?" I snap.

Oril looks at me, startled, his eyes flicking nervously to Oracle and Keion, who stand beside Torin. Torin sits opposite them, his finger pressed against his forehead, as if the weight of the world is balanced there.

"Let me guess, the only reason Augi isn’t here is because he went to fetch that Omega, to bring her into my house." My voice shakes with fury, the thought of my Alpha being in the same car with that no good omega for god knows how long enough to send me over the edge. freёwebnovel.com

"Walter, who told you this?" Torin asks, his tone tight, his eyes narrowing as if he can’t fathom how I know. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"Your mother, dipshit," I scoff. "Oh, and she made it a point to tell me she’s coming."

I feel a twisted satisfaction at the flicker of fear that flashes across Torin’s face. The only thing he fears, the only person who can shake him, is his mother.

"I want the truth. Now. The full story before that little shit gets here."

Keion gulps, then smacks Oracle lightly on the head. "Come on, say something."

Oracle’s eyes widen at Kei, but he quickly masks it with the bored expression he always wears. He turns to me, his voice flat.

"About a month ago, Torin’s father told him he had a plan to finally have a grandbaby. He pulled some strings in Alma and got us an Omega. But we needed to go to the gala so the Omega could meet us and decide if she wanted us or not. We made it our mission to make a bad impression so she would never choose our pack. But things went south. We didn’t even get to meet her, so we have no idea how she ended up choosing us."

I grit my teeth, my nails digging into my palms. I see now why Yuerna calls her a homewrecker. If this story is true, why would she choose a pack that clearly showed no interest in her? I hate her already.

"Where is she going to sleep?" I demand to know as I fold my arms across my chest.

"Well... we haven’t thought about all that. We were too busy trying to stop this from happening," Oril admits, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"You imbeciles have done nothing but whisper in your little hushed meetings. And now I have to get involved and prepare the guest room." My voice rises, sharp and bitter. "I told Kei whatever he was doing better not involve me at some point. And now look, I’m the one preparing a room for the bitch who’s going to replace me. Because no one else will."
