Chapter 38: Pack Of Idiots

Torin Pov

"So what I have come to understand is that the whole lot of you ARE IDIOTS!" I roar, my voice rising at the end, sharp enough to cut through the heavy silence. My anger boils over, spilling into every word. Fools, the whole lot of them. That is what they are. A pack of fools.

I’m so furious I barely remember how I got here, back to Spade Manor, the house I grew up in, the place that raised me under the watchful eyes of my three fathers and my mother.

The old Spade pack is gathered in the living room, every single one of them looking guilty as hell. My second, Oril, isn’t here yet, but when he arrives, I swear I’ll kill him.

Jacob, my second father and the main Alpha, shouts at me folding his fist, "We are your parents, Torin. You will show respect, son!" His voice is loud, but I notice the tremble in his hands. Parents? Them? Please.

"Son? No. I am no son of yours, nor of this pack. My one title is of the heir, you all made that abundantly clear. And for years I have served that title faithfully. I raised Spade to greater heights, just as you instructed. I even found a way to take us international. But now, thanks to you idiots, that is no longer going to happen!"

I see hurt flicker in Jacob’s eyes as he bites the inside of his mouth, holding back words I don’t care to hear. These people are unbelievable. I knew most of them had madness in them, but omega abuse? That I never expected.

Kei dares to speak, clearing his throat, stepping forward. "Okay, but Torin, why are you acting as if you knew nothing of this? Before you left on your eternity‑long business trip, you knew we were going to follow through with Aunty Yurena’s plan in making Lorali leave on her own."

Augi, who sits with Walter and my parents, shifts uncomfortably in his seat, while Oracle and Kei stand near the couch, hands folded, their faces tight with unease.

"Are you fucking joking right now?" I tilt my head, disbelief flooding my eyes. The nerve of this idiot. Kei gulps, stepping back, his audacity draining away.

"The plan I knew about was being bad hosts. That’s what I was told. You’d make her feel unwelcome, maybe force her to stare at a wall or something. It doesn’t take much to break an omega."

"And that is what we were doing. But it wasn’t working. That girl is made of graphene, we had to do more." Kei’s voice is steady, but his words drip with arrogance.

"So you decided this before or after making the omega sleep in the shed outside during winter? Do you know that alone could ruin Spade, our only source of income, your only source of income, if it gets out?" My words cut sharp, and Kei clenches his fists, anger flashing across his face. Good. Let him be angry. Maybe then he’ll feel a fraction of what I feel before I beat his ass.

"Torin, my dear, we had no choice. That Lorali is scheming, a spawn of evil. She even cost Walter the Kisan deal." My mother cries, tears spilling down her cheeks, her voice already dripping venom.

I love my mother. She was a great mother. But I am wise enough to know that the moment an Alma omega is involved, not a single word from her mouth can be trusted. She hates omegas from Alma. She twists everything and everyone, into tools of revenge, so long as it means she can hurt one of them.

The room feels suffocating, the air thick with guilt, lies, and venom. My fury is a storm, and every one of them is about to drown in it. freewēbnoveℓ.com

"Mother, with all due respect, I know that is not true." I sigh, my brow furrowing, my patience thinning.

"It is true! It has been true from the moment she chose your pack, a pack that already had an omega," my mother cries back at me, her voice trembling with venom.

I sneer, rolling my eyes. "Then would Father Jacob not be evil himself for forcing another omega into my pack that already had one? For ruining multiple lives simply because he wanted an heir?"

"Your father’s intentions were good. Hers, not so much."

"That’s the thing," I shout, my voice cracking through the silence. "This girl had no bad intentions. From what she knew, Walter wanted this. She thought he wanted another omega in the pack because that was what my dearest father told Headmistress Cleovera!"

The room goes silent. My words hang heavy, and I see the shock ripple across their faces. It appears my father failed to mention that part.

"We had no choice in the matter," Walter mutters, his voice breaking, his tears streaking down his cheeks. "Even if she may not have known, I was not willing. It is still the type of person she is. She is scheming, a witch of evil, a succubus from hell, hence—" He stops mid‑sentence, wiping his tears, his tone collapsing into self‑pity. He sounds as if he’s talking more to himself than to me. He’s still furious about the Kisan deal, but it was his own stupidity to entrust something so important to someone who commutes by taxi and bus. Clearly, he didn’t care that much about the deal.

"Hence..." Walter repeats, sniffing, before adding, "In a matter of two days she managed to bring Oracle into her snare and made him mark her with a mate bond. It wasn’t going to be long before—"

I don’t even wait for Walter to finish his sentence. I’ve heard enough.

In a flash, my fist collides with Oracle’s cheek. Gasps erupt around the room as I grab him by the collar and slam him against the large pillar at the edge of the sitting room. He grunts as his body hits the cold beam, and all I see is red.

"What the fuck have you done?" I snarl, my voice low and dangerous. My grip tightens, one hand still clutching his collar while the other balls into a fist. I punch him again in the face. And again. And again. His hands clutch at my sleeves, but he doesn’t pull away. It’s as if he wants to be beaten, and I’ll gladly oblige.

My knuckles split, tainted with his blood, but I don’t stop. Even though I know I should, I can’t.

"Why did you do it?" I press to know, my voice echoing through the room.

Kei, Augi, and my fathers rush forward, pulling me off him, their combined strength barely enough to restrain me. Oracle’s body slumps against the pillar, his face swollen, blood dripping down his skin. I still want to keep hitting him, to break him apart, but their grips hold me back.

Walter and Yurena scramble to his side, kneeling, frantic while checking if he’s still alive.

"I... I... couldn’t stop myself... she’s mine... mine to love... to hold... my mate," Oracle croaks, lifting his head to meet my gaze. Tears stream down his face, his voice ragged and broken.

Silence swallows the room whole. The grips on me loosen as the word reverberates in my skull. Mine.

How is this possible? How could Lorali be Oracle’s mate too?

"I... was going to reject her the moment I found out, for the sake of the pack. But... I couldn’t. All of a sudden I was on her, and I bit down on her neck." His words spill out, each one stoking the fire in my chest.

Anger surges through me all over again. Not only did this bastard mark Lorali before me—the head Alpha—but he had the audacity to even think of rejecting her knowing damn well a mate rejection can kill her. I never did that.

"I know what I did is unforgivable. I’ll repent for it all my life. But Torin... why are you this mad? As if this struck you personally. What is Lorali, the girl you’ve never met, not even once, to you? Why are you willing to beat me to death over her?"

All eyes snap to me, waiting, demanding an answer.

Unfortunately for them, they will not get one.

"Lorali is only a tool for me so that Spade can go international. She’s directly linked to the only thing I love in this world which is business. So I wouldn’t kill you for Lorali. I’d kill you for Spade." My voice drips with hatred, every syllable aimed at these fools who dare call themselves my pack.

It isn’t completely true, though, and I know it. If it weren’t for the fact that Lorali is my fated mate, I wouldn’t react this violently. I wouldn’t feel this primal urge to kill everyone in this room after hearing the atrocities they’ve committed against her, against my omega.

This fury is as much for myself then these idiots. Like a coward, I ran from my responsibilities, from my mate, tail tucked between my legs. This is my punishment for running. Oracle claimed Lorali. She’s bound to him now, and it’s impossible for her to leave the pack even if she wanted to.

My mother brainwashed them all, twisting my pack into doing unspeakable things. And I know she’s hiding more. I refuse to believe it ends with the shed and a few slaps. Not with her. Not with the way she hates Alma—no, Clerovera specifically.

This was supposed to be a happy day, the dawn of a new beginning. Instead, it feels like the dawn of a long road into darkness. I pull free from the loose grips holding me back, swallowing the tears that threaten to rise. My voice steadies, sharp and commanding. "What is done is done. We only plan for the future now."

"So, we continue with Yurena’s plan. She says we’re close. Lorali will be gone soon," Walter speaks up, his red‑rimmed eyes locking on me.

"She’ll be dead, you mean," Augi mutters suddenly from beside me. Walter shoots him a glare but Augi turns to the wall, avoiding his eyes. I want to demand what that means, but I force myself to stay on topic. I’ll press them for details later.

"No. None of that ridiculous plan will be taking place because Lorali cannot leave the pack." Mr. Masintosh’s words echo in my mind, his flashy smile now twisted into something terrifying. He didn’t outright say he’d kill us, but I know he meant it. And when he does, Spade will belong to him.

"NO! That cannot happen. Two omegas cannot live together!" Walter shouts, leaping to his feet, his voice cracking with desperation.

"Unfortunately, this is not a democracy. I am not asking for permission or anyone’s input. You will all do as you’re told." My growl reverberates through the room, commanding and absolute. Walter steps back, cowed.

"But why, though?" Kei dares to ask, standing beside me, his tone hesitant.

"I don’t have to tell you why. The same way none of you told me what was happening in my own house."

"Oh, what happened here?" A cheerful voice cuts through the tension, shattering the atmosphere.

We all turn to see my useless second, Oril, standing in the doorway with a bucket of popcorn, grinning as if he’s stumbled into a theater instead of a war.

Motherfucker. I am going to kill him.
