Chapter 59: Chapter 55 : Hired Thugs...

"Hahahahahaaaa"

"...You’re laughing," Masamichi Yaga said from beside me, his tone carrying a mix of things I couldn’t quite pin down. Anger, amusement, tension, disappointment, satisfaction, I couldn’t tell, only he knew and knew the lord above.

"Can you blame me?" I replied, glancing at him with a faint grin. "Did you see their faces... well, not faces, but you know what I mean." I practically hopped in my place as I recalled what happened back with the higher-ups.

Never have I felt this satisfied in my life before, outside of bringing down that meteor on Mahoraga, but that wasn’t me technically, it was Jogo, even when he was an afterimage I created using my technique.

Perhaps, me learning RCT and not dying was a close second, only because my problem didn’t stop from there on, if that had been an end-all for me in Shibuya, then perhaps it would have toppled the experience I just had now.

For one to curse their higher-ups and their entire ancestry, which they might not even be aware of, right in front of their f*cking face, that is a level of satisfaction unlike any.

Yaga didn’t return the expression.

Instead, his brows remained slightly furrowed, his posture tight as we continued walking, and it didn’t take much to tell that while I found the whole thing amusing, he very much did not.

"They let us go." He added.

"They...!" I exclaimed.

"They let us go," I glared at him with irritation.

"It was I who have to let them go, all because of you." I grumbled.

"Do you have to intervene," I asked irritably.

Yaga just looked at me, a long and hard look.

"Would you have killed them ?" He just asked me that.

But that one question was enough to shut me down. Because for all my trash talk back then, mostly me venting my rage, I never planned to kill them. At least not without a good reason.

Killing is not the problem, but killing without a reason is. Cause without that there will be no difference between me and that monster...

The image of that four eye freak entered my mind. Nah, I’m not turning like him.

"All that power, all that authority, and the moment things got real, they backed off." I scoffed at their action, while changing the topic from this subject. Its an uncomfortable subject to begin with for a boy who was completely average about a week or so ago.

I only said ’Domain Expansion,’ while releasing the initial cursed energy needed to open the domain, and they were already shaking. Before I really open the domain and start trashing them, I had this old man knocking my head with that iron fist of his.

’Damn that hurt.’

While I fully intended to use the domain, once they backed off, even Yaga wouldn’t let me open my domain. So, unfortunately, I had to back off.

"They assessed risk," Yaga corrected calmly, though there was a sharp edge beneath his voice. "And you gave them a reason to hesitate."

"Good, ’cause donkeys like those old geezers are only kept in line by sticks, not carrots," I muttered.

He stopped walking all of a sudden, perhaps didn’t like my comment. I took another step before realizing and turning back toward him.

"That was reckless," he said, his voice firm now. "Do you understand what you just did?"

I shrugged again, less confidently this time. "Yeah," I said. "I pissed off a room full of old foggies."

"You openly defied the leadership of jujutsu society," he replied, his tone tightening. "You threatened them inside their own stronghold."

"And they folded," I shot back, irritation flickering again. "What’s the big deal?"

"It is a big deal," he replied sharply, "because now you’re a target for them, just as I am." Yaga said with a sigh. Unlike the kid, he knew fully well that those old geezers sitting at the higher-up positions, controlling the entire jujutsu society on their whim, were corrupted to their bone.

Not even one would tolerate another powerful sorcerer to go against them. The only reason they backed off was due to the threat to their own life; it was just temporary.

Their power never lay in their personal strength; it was the people under them and the control they had of the jujutsu society.

There was not even a single doubt in Yaga’s mind that sooner or later they would come after him and the kid.

He couldn’t help but look grim thinking about that.

I couldn’t tell the grim look on Yaga’s face apart from his normal expression. As far as I was concerned, he always looked that way; however, I could feel the seriousness in his tone.

"They will act," he continued. "I’m uncertain when, but they will act, and that I am assured of. You should be careful."

I exhaled slowly, my earlier amusement fading just a little.

"...Still worth it," I muttered.

Yaga sighed, rubbing his temple briefly as if dealing with a headache. "Why do I get students like this all the time," he said. "Listen, kid, don’t be impulsive, that will only get you killed faster, learn to control your emotions."

I didn’t respond. Even after knowing the man was talking correctly, I felt like being nagged for no apparent reason. Those old geezers had it coming sooner or later...

I nodded my head nonetheless, however, I didn’t regret my actions.

Not really.

We started walking again, the path ahead quiet for a moment, until—something felt wrong.

I couldn’t tell exactly what, but let it say that my instincts told me, especially after Yaga’s ominous warning, that something definitely wasn’t right.

However, instincts weren’t always enough to react in time, a sudden, sharp flare in the back of my mind that made my body tense before I could even process why. freeweɓnøvel.com

"—!"

Before I could react, Yaga moved. Faster than I thought he was capable of, a jujutsu sorcerer indeed, he might look like an old uncle, but the man was ripped underneath.

His hand shot out, grabbing me by the collar and yanking me backward with enough force to throw off my balance, and in that exact same instant—

A blade slammed into the ground where I had just been standing.

The impact cracked the pavement.

An arrow... no, not just an arrow. It was infused with cursed energy.

My eyes snapped toward it, then upward.

That sudden jolt immediately hastened my heartbeat and my entire body was in a tense state.

I didn’t even react to the way Yaga pulled me back, or the strong choking feeling I had in my throat, I bore with it all and just looked around, trying to find out who shot that arrow.

Though, there wasn’t much reason for me to strain my eyes, I already had an idea who this might be.

There was only one person I remembered in the anime who used a bow and arrow.

Perched atop a streetlight like it was a figure, the same one who had fired that arrow.

Dressed in dark clothes, holding a bow in his hands while more arrows were knocked back ready to fire, this was none other than Noritoshi Kamo.

This generation’s user of Blood Manipulation from the Kamo clan.

And who else could it be? There weren’t many in the jujutsu society who bowed to those higher-ups’ every whim as they came.

Kamo was one of such people. His head is completely filled with duty and rules those Kamo clan geezers poured into his mind.

"...Thanks, you saved my butt there," I muttered under my breath while sending an appreciative glance at Yaga.

While internally judging Noritoshi Kamo. The character wasn’t that strong, to be honest. His technique was good, but he was held back by the limited amount of blood humans have. The only possible way to overcome that would be to learn RCT, which was almost as hard or even harder than learning a domain.

Yaga stepped slightly in front of me, his stance shifting immediately.

"They’ve already moved," he said quietly.

I clicked my tongue. "Figures."

A thought of turning around and really opening my domain in front of those geezers crossed my mind, but I squashed that down hard. Right now, I had to take care of this dude here.

A faint sound echoed from behind us then, and I had a feeling that even those old geezers were not that stupid to send one, probably grade 2 sorcerer to kill two unknown grade sorcerers.

Turned out they really weren’t.

I looked behind us and found an extremely old-looking man coming towards us. I didn’t recognize the old man, but by Yaga’s expression it was clear that he knew him.

For a second, I had a feeling that I had seen him in the anime but couldn’t recall who immediately.

But as his face completely came into the light, I indeed knew I had seen him in the anime before. I can’t recall his name, but he was the principal of the Kyoto Jujutsu High School.

The old man who used an electric guitar.

And if I wasn’t wrong, then he should be at least second grade or first grade.

Seems like those higher-ups indeed gave it a thought before sending both Kamo and the old man here.

Yaga was a first-grade sorcerer with his puppets, but without them his fighting strength was lacking, and I was uncertain what they would rank me, but with my domain alone, hopefully nothing less than a first grade.

"Seems like we have our work cut out for us, huh..." I grumbled.

xXx

A/N : Ah, many must be wondering why didn’t he went through with the domain expansion, well its already explained in the Chapter, he never actually planned to kill them.

Becuase remember for all the fighting and bloodshed he had gone through, he still at the core remain an average boy with no prior experience with killing.

The only person he has killed so far was Haruto in Shibuya against Mahoraga. And that cause he was extremely angry at the situation, not to mention Haruto kind of deserve it.

Unlike after Shibuya were Yami’s going blind, he knew everything what happened before Shibuya. He knows Haruto kill innocents.

That can’t be said for the elders, there are barely any mention of them in the first two season and they barely make an appearance in JJK 0 Movie once.

His oppion about them is ruined thanks to the first hand interaction he had with them and what others told him, but that is not enough to kill them, in his books at least.

Now if they were to send assassin’s after him or Yaga or someone else from Jujutsu Tech. Now that is good enough reason to actually kill them. Yes... definately.

But that is the future. Whether that will take place or not, my guess is as good as any in this regards.

Anyways, If there are any mistakes feel free to tell me, I’m busy and couldln’t recheck it myself. Sorry in advance.

Would appreciate stones if you can spare any. Thank you.
