Chapter 303: Fixing a Flower Vase
"How is Uncle?" Xu Yun asked with worry.
"He’s fine. He can recover with time. However, he won’t be able to help us for the rest of the journey." Tang Yin shook his head.
But he was also satisfied with this outcome. With Xu Yun’s Spirit Ascension Realm cultivation, she would not be able to observe him in battle. He did not need to hide his power anymore. Of course, he wouldn’t use his real power unless it was absolutely necessary. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Xu Yun let out a sigh of relief. "That’s good. As long as you protect me well, I’ll give you a good reward." She said as if she were talking to a dog.
"Naturally, I’ll al-"
SMACK
Before Xu Yun could finish her sentence, Tang Yin slapped her across the face.
He was done with her bullshit attitude. Now that Elder Liang and Elder Zi could not hinder him, he would call the shots for the rest of the journey.
"Y-Y-Y-You, how dare you!? I’ll tell Grandp-"
SMACK
Tang Yin slapped her face again.
"Should you really be talking to someone who can control your life and death with such an arrogant attitude?" Tang Yin asked. He made sure to control the power of his slaps. Otherwise, Xu Yun’s head would explode like a watermelon. At most, she felt a sting from the two slaps.
Xu Yun was extremely livid. However, she also realised how powerless she was at this moment. Other than using Qian Zhong’s name, she did not have any other cards.
However, after a moment of thought, her arrogance grew, "I wi-"
SMACK
Tang Yin slapped her across the face again. "Did I allow you to speak?" His tone was ice-cold.
Tears streamed down Xu Yun’s face. She had never suffered such injustice in her life. Tang Yin ignored Xu Yun. He looked towards the Celestial Moon Chariot.
BANG
Suddenly, the Celestial Moon Chariot burst apart. Splinters of wood and jade scattered across the sky before turning to dust.
Xu Yun was stunned. "Hey! Why did you destroy my chariot!?" In shock and anger, she forgot the reason for Tang Yin’s last slap.
"Without the Array Formation, the Celestial Moon Chariot is just a wooden chair. It will only slow us down and make us stand out more." Tang Yin explained.
"But-" Xu Yun tried to rebuke Tang Yin.
SMACK
"That’s all you need to know. Keep quiet unless you’re spoken to." Tang Yin said coldly after slapping her again.
Xu Yun started to cry again.
"Shut up. As a Spirit Ascension Realm cultivator, aren’t you embarrassed to cry over such a trivial thing?" Tang Yin continued. However, Xu Yun continued to cry as if her dad had died.
Suddenly, she got up, "I-I don’t need your help! I can go to the Thousand Blossom Pavilion by myself!" As such, she stormed off with Elder Liang’s unconscious body in her arms.
Tang Yin did not stop her. He wanted her to experience the real dangers of the world. Only then would she somewhat understand his words.
’Shitty servant. How dare you slap me?! I’ll tell Grandpa and Sister Qiu to deal with you.’ Xu Yun planned internally.
Xu Yun hadn’t even travelled 10 kilometres before she encountered a Rank 6 Demonic Beast. It was a 100-metre large bear.
Xu Yun quickly turned around and fled. Unfortunately, the Rank 6 bear had already noticed her. Its eyes shone with thick killing intent.
"No, don’t come close!" Xu Yun shouted. However, her words fell on deaf ears as the Rank 6 bear instantly caught up with her.
Xu Yun threw all of the Martial Skills she could muster at the bear in panic, to no avail.
The Rank 6 bear ignored the Martial Skills, it was but a scratch to it. Instead, it opened its maws wide, ready to consume Xu Yun in a single bite.
"Ahhhh" Xu Yun screamed in pure terror. She had never been so close to death before. But the feeling of pain and death that she was expecting didn’t come.
After gaining a small bit of courage, she opened her eyes to see why she hadn’t died yet. She saw a scene that she would never forget in her life.
A black-robed person stood in front of the Rank 6 bear. The mere outstretch of his palm had caused the bear to freeze in its tracks, unable to move or retaliate.
"Still think you don’t need me?" Tang Yin said with a smirk.
Xu Yun wanted to thank Tang Yin, but after remembering the slaps she had received from him, she stopped herself.
"Tch, who needs you? I was just about to kill that stupid bear with my next move. You just got in my way." Xu Yun snorted coldly before flying off.
Tang Yin’s expression did not change. He turned the Rank 6 bear into dust before disappearing. freewёbnoνel.com
5 kilometres later, Xu Yun encountered a Peak-tier Rank 5 Demonic Beast. Unfortunately for her, it was a Nimble Hummingbird. It was around 50 metres large and focused mostly on speed.
Xu Yun tried to escape, but with Elder Liang in her arms and the Nimble Hummingbird’s speed, this was an impossibility.
Realising this, Xu Yun decided to fight back. However, she was only a Mid-stage Spirit Ascension Realm cultivator. She was completely outclassed.
Xu Yun was not worried though, she believed that Tang Yin would interfere before she got hurt.
Unfortunately, her wishful thinking only stood to disappoint her as she sustained her first injury. A long gash had been inflicted on her arm by the Nimble Hummingbird.
Xu Yun’s hopes were not dashed. She stubbornly fought the Nimble Hummingbird with all of the Martial Skills and Tier 5 Artifacts in her possession.
As time passed, both Xu Yun and the Nimble Hummingbird sustained injuries. However, Xu Yun’s injuries were even worse.
By now, her faith in Tang Yin’s interference had diminished, but not gone. She still believed that Tang Yin would swoop in to save her soon.
As she neared the brink of death, her fear and anxiety grew. She now wholeheartedly believed that Tang Yin would not interfere. She was even entertaining thoughts such as being abandoned by Tang Yin.
"Senior, please save me!" Xu Yun cried out as she watched the blood-covered Nimble Hummingbird swoop towards her. However, she received no answer.
The Nimble Hummingbird’s talons ripped a huge tear in Xu Yun’s chest, bringing her an inch away from death. Her Tier 5 Artifacts had already been severely damaged and were just pieces of useless metal, and she did not have enough Spirit Qi to cast any more Martial Skills.
"Senior, please..." Tears of blood streamed down Xu Yun’s cheek. Her former arrogance was nowhere to be seen, only the fear of death and slight hope remained. But Tang Yin still did not appear to save her.
The Nimble Hummingbird dashed towards the defenceless Xu Yun once again. It attacked with its beak, with the intention of killing her with this attack. However, a barrier of light appeared around Xu Yun, swiftly blocking the attack.
Xu Yun fell into complete despair. That was her last piece of defence. Now, she was as defenceless as a mortal. Perhaps even a Spirit Channelling Realm cultivator could kill her.
Walloping in despair and the fear of death, Xu Yun fainted. She was seriously injured, and her mind was on the brink of collapse. She did not possess the willpower to continue remaining conscious.
A sigh came out of the void beside Xu Yun, and Tang Yin walked out. "Perhaps, now you can understand the position you’re in." As he uttered those words, the Nimble Hummingbird exploded into a blood mist, dying the surroundings crimson.
Tang Yin was in truth, astonished with Xu Yun. Despite her boundless arrogance and weak willpower, she wholeheartedly protected Elder Liang’s unconscious body. Not even a scratch could be found on him.
It seemed that under that veil of arrogance, she was not such a bad person, at least not towards her family anyway.
Tang Yin injected his Abyss Qi into Xu Yun’s body. He inspected her body with his divine sense and slowly healed all her wounds. Within an hour, she was as good as new.
Her eyelids slowly fluttered open in a daze. She looked around in confusion before locking onto Tang Yin.
Without saying a word, she rushed into his embrace and started crying profusely, rendering Tang Yin speechless. But he did not do anything. He only patiently waited for her to regain her bearing.
’This is the first time I’ve seen a Spirit Ascension Realm cultivator cry so much. Are all flower vases like this?’ Tang Yin found the situation to be quite amusing.
However, he understood her predicament. She had been sheltered her whole life by Qian Zhong and the Moonlit River Sect. Her battle with the Nimble Hummingbird could be considered her first-ever life-and-death experience.
Anyone’s first life-and-death experience would be a terrifying prospect that could even mentally scar a person. So, Tang Yin somewhat understood what Xu Yun was going through. But he had not forgotten her arrogance.
If she still had her arrogance from before...
