Chapter 160: Analyzing the Array Formation
The cultivators in the underground karst cave looked at each other for a brief moment. Then without exchanging any words, they headed to a random Array Formation engraved on the walls of the cave.
Tang Yin was the same, he headed to a random Array Formation. He had never really used Array Formation before, let alone decipher and create one. The most contact he had ever had with Array Formations was destroying them.
However, he was still fairly confident in passing the trial. This confidence stemmed from his memories. He had killed thousands of cultivators, he had made sure to use Soul Plunder on every cultivator he killed. There were definitely Formation Masters among some of them.
Therefore, although he wasn’t certain that he had the most knowledge regarding Array Formation among the cultivators present, he was somewhat optimistic about his chances of passing this trial.
The Array Formation Tang Yin chose was simple looking. It was octagon shaped with various lines making sections. In each section were runic symbols which almost looked like a foreign language. There was also a Yin-Yang symbol at the centre, it stood out as the core.
Tang Yin placed his hand on the Array Formation, he could immediately tell that it was placed by a Tier 8 Formation Master. This was a good thing as anything more complex would take longer than 5 hours to decipher and reassemble.
He then tried to access his storage ring to bring out all of the books containing information about Array Formations. To his surprise, he could not. Similar to the first trial, there was a seal placed on his storage ring.
It was strange, there was no seal on his cultivation or Abyss Qi. It seemed to only be specifically targeting his storage ring. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Tang Yin looked towards Tian Huang, this was obviously his doing.
Without wasting any more time, Tang Yin surged his Abyss Qi into his eyes to activate the Heaven Piercing Gaze.
Immediately, he saw through the Array Formation. He could see its internal mechanisms, all the runic symbols, the clear division of the lines, the intricate strokes used to draw the Array Formation, and he could even see the pathways which Qi would use to activate the Array Formation.
There was no Qi in the Array Formation at the moment, Spirit Stones would be needed to activate the Array Formation. However, Tang Yin’s storage ring was sealed, so he could not activate the Array Formation. Otherwise, he would be able to see even more with the Heaven Piercing Gaze.
The most important parts of the Array Formation were the materials used to create it. Normally, the materials would need to be dissolved into the Array Formation to create its purpose and abilities. However, not all of the materials would be melted and merged into the Array Formation.
It was exactly these materials which Tang Yin could see.
Tang Yin spent a whole 2 hours analysing every little detail of the Array Formation. Only after he had finished triple checking that everything had been accounted for did he start the second step of his plan.
Tang Yin slowly and carefully placed 2 of his fingers on the wall of the cave. He gently plucked out a small piece of shining stone from the cave wall. He made sure not to damage it in the slightest. After all, he had to reconstruct the Array Formation with the same materials and resources gathered from it. He did not have access to his storage ring to gather more materials.
After removing material from the Array Formation, Tang Yin dug right back in to remove the next piece. He made sure to be careful and meticulous. If he damaged even a single piece, reassembling the Array Formation would become hundreds of times more difficult.
Tang Yin spent another 2 hours removing each and every material, piece and resource in the Array Formation. There was no trace of the Array Formation ever being on the cave’s wall after Tang Yin had removed it. Unless someone looked very closely, they would not be able to notice any clues.
There was only a single hour left till the end of the fourth trial. Tang Yin’s goal was not to be the fastest to obtain the reward promised by Tian Huang. It was just to simply pass the fourth trial. Everything would naturally belong to him if he obtained Tian Huang’s inheritance.
Most of the cultivators in the underground karst cave were on various steps of comprehending, disassembling and reassembling the Array Formation. It was clearly evident that Scattered Soul Daoist was the quickest as he was already reassembling the Array Formation.
Most of the cultivators participating in the fourth trial mainly focused on their cultivation. Some might have dabbled here and there in different professions of cultivation like Alchemy, Forging, Array Formations etc.
However, they were mainly dedicated to their own cultivation.
Most cultivators who wholeheartedly focused on cultivation professions did not possess high cultivation. This was because they were too busy practising methods of their profession. They either did not practice cultivation and only reached the minimum stages required to practice their professional methods, or they did not have high talent in cultivation and decided to focus on another path of cultivation like Alchemy or Forging and any other professions they took an interest to.
Those who could reach high levels of cultivation rarely ever focused on cultivation professions. Even if they did, it was not much.
But this did not mean that there were no cultivators with high cultivation and extraordinary skills in their profession. Cultivators who were like this were bound to be successful in the cultivation world no matter where they went. However, the requirements for achieving such a feat were too absurd and could only be achieved by cultivators blessed with heavenly talent and many fortuitous encounters.
