Chapter 26: Chapter 26 Beat
"Two cocktails, please!" Shang Tian sat down next to the woman but did not immediately strike up a conversation.
As a seasoned player in the scene, he had to understand the principle of gradual progress, or else he would only invite trouble instead of getting what he wanted.
"Hello, I’m Shang Tian, a talent scout manager from Ali Film and Television. I’d like to buy you a drink!" Shang Tian pushed the glass towards the woman, whose glass was just empty.
"Ali...Film...Sounds familiar..." Zhu Ying took the glass, tilted her head back, and drank it in one go.
Shang Tian was stunned; it really seemed familiar!!!
Ali Film and Television was Chuzhou City’s most famous film company, one that Chuzhou People were proud of.
Gulp, gulp...
"White and slender, a jade neck with fragrance." Shang Tian was mesmerized. This woman was undoubtedly the finest he had ever encountered in a bar, and he secretly made up his mind to have a deep discussion about life with her tonight, no matter what it took.
"Another drink." Shang Tian said to the bartender, thinking this woman was easy to charm.
Zhu Ying took the glass, placed it to her lips but stopped, turned her head to Shang Tian, and suddenly shouted, "Stinking man, do you have any ulterior motives towards me?"
"Uh?" Shang Tian was baffled. She was so direct.
Lin Xi, who was nearby, showed an amused expression.
Then, unexpectedly, Zhu Ying suddenly splashed the drink in Shang Tian’s face, showing a look of disdain, "Hypocrite!"
"All you men are the same!"
"If you want my body, just say so directly. Don’t pretend to be so innocent; it’s so damn fake."
Lin Xi was baffled, thinking to himself, "Miss, when you curse, don’t involve everyone in the room!"
Shang Tian regained his composure and noticed many people in the bar looking at him with amusement. Anger welled up inside him, and regardless of his now wet face and clothes, he shouted, "You bitch, you need a beating!"
Saying so, he raised a hand to slap Zhu Ying’s pretty face.
"He really dares to hit her!"
"Yeah, such a beautiful girl!"
"Scumbag, she only splashed some drink, is it worth it?"
"Even if she splashed me, I’d be willing. Where else would you find such a gorgeous girl?"
"So, that guy is a real idiot!"
"Yeah, a total moron!"
...
Many people in the bar started to gossip, but no one stepped in to stop it. After all, such things frequently happened in bars; it’s best not to interfere.
As Shang Tian’s hand was about to hit Zhu Ying with only a millimeter left, everyone closed their eyes, unable to watch.
"Snap."
The sound did not happen; everyone saw a young man in shabby clothes grab Shang Tian’s wrist. Looking at Zhu Ying, he said to Shang Tian, "If you hadn’t been so ashamed and angry, you might have succeeded."
At this point, everyone noticed that Zhu Ying seemed completely indifferent to Shang Tian’s actions and instead took his drink and downed it in one go while he raised his hand.
"Get lost!"
Lin Xi exerted a bit of force, and Shang Tian stumbled back three or four meters, looking very embarrassed.
"Damn kid, if you’ve got guts, don’t leave." Shang Tian glared hatefully at Lin Xi, realizing he was no match for this young man, and he scurried out of the bar.
"Uh, you..." Lin Xi didn’t pay any attention to Shang Tian. Instead, while he was distracted, the woman finished the remaining half of his Polish vodka in one gulp.
Then there was a "bang" sound as Zhu Ying slumped over the bar, unconscious.
"This...this has nothing to do with me!" Lin Xi muttered softly.
The bartender came over and kindly advised, "Brother, you’d better leave through the back door quickly. That guy is a regular here and knows several thugs. He likely went to get them. If you don’t leave soon, it’ll be too late."
"It’s already too late!" Lin Xi glanced at the empty doorway and ordered another glass of Spirytus Rektyfikowany from the bartender.
"Why won’t you listen?" The bartender thought he had done his best, and if Lin Xi wouldn’t listen, there wasn’t anything more he could do, except maybe call an ambulance for him afterward.
Less than ten seconds after Lin Xi drank most of the vodka, two people approached him from the door.
These two were about 175cm tall, quite skinny, wearing black shorts and floral T-shirts, their hair in various colors, both with cigarettes in their mouths.
One of them put a hand on Lin Xi’s shoulder and said coldly, "Kid, come with us!"
Lin Xi didn’t turn around, but he noticed the bartender desperately winking at him, signaling him not to go.
"Alright." Lin Xi smiled.
One in front and one behind, they sandwiched Lin Xi between them as they headed to the bar’s back door.
Outside the back door was a small alley, reeking of a foul smell, aside from two huge garbage bins, there wasn’t a soul in sight.
"Kid, you’re pretty cooperative!" one of them said.
"Too bad a sponsor’s offering five thousand bucks for one of your legs and an arm, so sorry about that!" the other continued.
"Don’t blame us; blame yourself for offending the wrong people."
"By the way, it’d be wise not to resist. For people like you, I can handle five of you without breaking a sweat."
Both drew out a steel pipe from behind, ready to attack Lin Xi.
"Oh? Five people?"
"How about this, give me the five thousand, and I’ll leave you with one leg and one arm." Lin Xi thought for a bit and replied earnestly.
"What?"
"Did we hear wrong? You’re actually asking us for money?"
"Wouldn’t that mean we did all this for nothing?"
Both looked at Lin Xi, utterly bewildered, as if he were a fool.
"No, you’re getting a leg and an arm; it’s quite a bargain!" Lin Xi said.
"What do we need your leg and arm for? The sponsor wants it, and besides, we can’t sell it!"
"No, I’m saying I’ll leave you one arm and one leg!"
The two were taken aback, then their faces turned ferocious, "Damn it, we’ve seen arrogant people, but never someone as cocky as you!"
"If we don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll really think we’re easy to mess with."
The two steel pipes swung towards Lin Xi’s arms and legs, their teamwork showcasing that they were no strangers to such affairs.
If it were an ordinary person, tragedy would be certain. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
However, tonight, the ones destined for tragedy were them.
Lin Xi sidestepped the attack easily, reached out to grab one person’s arm, and with a light twist, ’crack’, the arm broke.
The person’s face turned the color of a pig’s liver, and before he could scream, Lin Xi kicked his knee, and with another ’crack’, his leg was broken.
"Ahhhhh..."
The other was stunned, so frightened that the steel pipe fell from his hand. Damn, never had he seen anyone so fierce.
"Is there still time to beg for mercy, bro?" He was almost in tears, cursing Shang Tian in his heart.
"Heh!" Lin Xi sneered, kicking the man’s knee, then grabbing and twisting his arm, resulting in two consecutive ’crack’ sounds, both broken.
"Where’s the money?"
A moment later, Lin Xi walked back into the bar with the five thousand he had just acquired, suddenly thinking that he might have to visit bars more often. freewebnøvel.com
"Hmm?"
The woman who had been slumped over the bar was gone.
"Where is she?" Lin Xi pointed to where she had been and glanced at the bartender. "That was more than half a glass of Spirytus Rektyfikowany. Even a heavy drinker wouldn’t handle it, let alone an ordinary person."
The bartender didn’t have time to be surprised that Lin Xi was unharmed. His eyes flickered with guilt and shyness.
Lin Xi thought it was bad, certain that the person had sneaked back while he was away and taken her away!
