Chapter 661: Chapter 661: The Fate of Jiang Xiaoyi
"Everyone inside, come out!"
Just as Jiang Xiaoyi closed his eyes, a wave of terrifying auras emanated from outside.
Jiang Xiaoyi was so frightened that he scrambled to open his eyes. "Uncle, what’s happening out there?"
The man rose to his feet, looking perfectly at ease. "Don’t worry, Xiaoyi. It’s probably about the antidote. They must have captured Ye Qingchen by now. In a moment, I’ll have him kneel before you and apologize!"
A growing sense of unease weighed on Jiang Xiaoyi’s heart. "Uncle, if it’s Ye Qingchen, then I’ll go out with you!"
Jiang Xiaoyi struggled to climb out of bed. The middle-aged man initially wanted to persuade him to rest, but on second thought, he nodded in approval.
"Alright. You truly are a man of the Jiang Family, showing no mercy to your enemies. Let’s go out together!"
The group of them filed out of the room.
However, when they saw the people waiting outside, their expressions turned utterly grim.
"Um, sirs, may I ask what brings you here?"
The people in the courtyard were not the old know-it-all. Instead, they were the guards responsible for apprehending criminals, serving under the Jiang Clan’s Saint Heir.
Without a word, the leader in the yellow robe gestured, and Jiang Xiaoyi and his companions were instantly apprehended.
"No, wait! What’s going on? Why are you arresting us!?" The middle-aged man watched their actions in terror. These guards only arrested serious criminals, but they hadn’t done anything wrong.
"Why are we arresting you? Heh! When Ye Qingchen was looking for someone, wasn’t it you who provided him with the clues?"
This statement sent Jiang Xiaoyi and the others into a panic.
"No, that wasn’t us! We never wanted him to find anyone! We... we just had a grudge against him and wanted to teach him a lesson!"
The middle-aged man was on the verge of tears. What on earth is happening? I clearly told that old know-it-all to teach Ye Qingchen a lesson, so how did it backfire on us? How did Ye Qingchen manage this? Could that old man have betrayed us?
To Jiang Xiaoyi, the situation felt like a bolt from the blue. "No... what’s going to happen to us now that we’re arrested?"
"Hmph! Do you even need to ask? Even if you avoid death, you’ll lose at least one layer of skin."
The leader waved his hand, and the guards began escorting Jiang Xiaoyi’s group away.
Jiang Xiaoyi’s footsteps faltered, and he nearly wet himself in fear several times. The world spun around him, and everything turned incredibly dark. Why? Why is this happening?!
His uncle was no better off. Even after being led a good distance away, he was still in a complete daze. "Wait, you must have arrested the wrong people!" he struggled resentfully.
SLAP!
The leader frowned and slapped the man mercilessly across the face. "Shut up! Keep moving and don’t ask questions you shouldn’t be asking!"
Jiang Xiaoyi’s uncle could only crush his resentment and swallow it. But what else could he do? The guards holding him all had a higher Cultivation than him.
...
Meanwhile, the red-haired boy who had snitched on Ye Qingchen sat smugly in his room, surrounded by several of his friends. All of them were listening to him boast about the incident.
"You have no idea how arrogant that guy was! But what good did that do? In the end, he ran into me, didn’t he?"
"Just a piece of trash. Even with a higher Realm than mine, I still subdued him easily."
"You should have seen him then, crying and begging me not to mess with him!" the red-haired boy gesticulated wildly as he spouted nonsense.
If they didn’t know what really happened, they might have actually believed him. However, due to the red-haired boy’s status, plenty of people were still eager to flatter him.
"Haha, you’re amazing! That guy you mentioned is probably regretting it big time by now."
"Tsk, tsk. If I had been the one to run into you, I would have been completely captivated by your prowess!"
"Another glorious deed to add to your record!"
The group was in the middle of their fawning when the door was suddenly kicked open from the outside.
BANG!
Numerous individuals in yellow robes surged in, encircling everyone in the room.
The red-haired boy was so startled that he fell right off his chair. "No, wait... who’s in trouble? Why are there so many people?"
Having been around the Jiang Ancient Clan for so many years, he knew exactly what the arrival of these men signified. Yet, all of them gathered right in front of him.
"This is the red-haired kid. Alright, take him away!" the leader commanded with a wave of his hand, and the boy was pinned to the ground.
"What’s happening? What’s going on!? Sirs, you must have made a mistake!"
The red-haired boy tried to struggle, but how could he possibly break free from these men? "You guys, hurry up and save me! What are you all doing just standing there like idiots!?" he yelled at the onlookers.
However, they all turned their backs, pretending not to see.
"Who would dare try to save him? These men are from the Ancient Temple!"
"Exactly. That guy loves to show off. It’s so satisfying to see him finally get what’s coming to him!"
"I couldn’t stand him for a long time. Now that these guys have got him, his life is over."
...
The onlookers silently shuffled away, pretending they hadn’t seen a thing.
The red-haired boy looked back at them and cried out, "No, why are you arresting me? I didn’t do anything wrong!"
However, the guards paid no heed to his frantic rambling. They simply seized him and dragged him outside.
...
The moon rose high in the sky.
Ye Qingchen sat alone in the courtyard, staring into the distance, lost in thought.
"Qingchen, you’re still awake?" Qin Yue appeared behind him, slowly sitting down at his side.
"You’re not asleep either, are you?" Ye Qingchen replied with a light chuckle.
Qin Yue sat beside him, gazing at his profile. The moonlight cascaded over his face, making his features appear particularly well-defined. At this moment, she found him incredibly captivating.
"Qingchen, I’ve felt terribly guilty about you getting hurt," she said softly. "So, there’s something I want to give you."
From behind her back, Qin Yue produced a glowing pendant.
Ye Qingchen turned, his eyes widening in surprise at the object she presented. "What is this?"
The gemstone on the glowing pendant was a brilliant blue-green, though it hung from a simple, ordinary cord. He had never seen anything like it before.
"This is a protective pendant my father left me," she explained. "I’ve always treasured it. But now, I think it suits you more."
Qin Yue reached out, offering the luminous pendant to him.
Ye Qingchen scratched his head in embarrassment. "Haha, this is too precious. I couldn’t possibly accept it."
After all, it’s a memento from her father, one she has always treasured...
"No, Qingchen," she insisted. "You must accept it."
