Chapter 37: 37 | Heading Back & Jealousy

Dexter had already ordered an Blitx Ride before they finished packing.

He pulled out his phone while the girls were in the sitting room, either cultivating, still folding their clothes or stuffing toiletry bags.

The app showed a four-minute wait. Perfect timing. He confirmed the pickup and waited on the sofa.

He neatly folded the last of Mira things when his mind went to his rewards once more.

He eagerly checked his rewards and smiled.

D-Rank Talent Card — Pain Perception

Type-6 Relic — Ring of Shared Burdens

Sixth-Tier Legendary Body Cultivation Technique — Eternal Buddha Endurance Scripture

Grade-4 Divine Medicine — Phoenix Heart Elixir ×3

• Mana Affinity Increased

A-Rank → S-Rank

Mana absorption speed increased dramatically.

He smiled and stretched out his hands as the 6th-tier ring of shared burden appeared before him.

He removed the tier 2 ring, relief washed over him while the girls froze as their pain returned.

They immediately turned towards the bedroom where Dexter had vanished into.

But it didn’t take long before the pain vanished once more and they equally sighed in relief but their gaze toward the bedroom didn’t stop.

What does it mean to have someone literally take your pain away and burden themselves with it?

He could have held it over them, used the rings ability to take advantage of them and even threat them with it.

But not Dexter, he didn’t say anything and simply touched them, taking their pain away without another word and then pretended like nothing happened.

"Stupid."

Mira couldn’t help but mutter and the rest nodded their heads in agreement. Even Lyra who couldn’t hear nodded as she read it through the Type 2 AI Glasses and knew it was Mira talking.

By the time everyone was ready to leave, the vehicle had already arrived outside the hotel.

A dark sedan idled at the curb, its hazard lights blinking rhythmically.

Dexter received a notification on his phone, looked down the window and spoke.

"Alright, it’s time to leave."

He pushed Mira’s wheelchair out of the room first. The wheels rolled smoothly across the carpeted hallway.

Mira sat with her hands folded in her lap, her posture straight despite the fatigue still clinging to her body.

Her amber hair had been brushed neatly over her shoulders, and her pale skin stood out sharply against the fabric of her clothes.

Lyra and Selene followed behind with the luggage. Lyra dragged two suitcases, one in each hand, her small frame somehow managing the weight without complaint.

Her smart glasses sat perfectly on her nose, the thin frames catching the fluorescent light overhead.

Selene carried a single bag slung over her shoulder. She moved carefully, one hand lightly trailing along the wall, counting steps out of habit even though Lyra walked right beside her.

Together, they entered the elevator and rode down to the lobby.

Dexter’s face was furrowed in deep pain but he was excited as the pain was strengthening his body rapidly due to the Eternal Endurance Scripture.

The soft hum of the elevator filled the small space.

Mira glanced up at Dexter. He was staring at the metal doors with a calm expression, his hands resting on the handles of her wheelchair.

She studied the side of his face for a moment before looking away. Lyra also did the same thing but hers was more subtle.

"Ding!"

A soft chime announced their arrival.

The doors slid open.

After returning the room key and completing the checkout process at the front desk, the four of them stepped out of the hotel through the rotating glass doors.

The morning air was cool and fresh. Sunlight poured across the wide entrance, casting long shadows behind them.

Almost immediately, Dexter felt countless gazes but he was half excited and half deep in misery to care.

"Hm... "

Mira’s voice took his attention as he looked down at her.

"What?"

Mira noticed his expression and chuckled softly from below.

"Do you realize how many strange looks you’re getting?"

Dexter blinked before instinctively looking around.

She was right.

People passing by couldn’t help but stare.

He was coming out of a hotel with three extremely beautiful women by his side, one even crippled but he actually got them into the hotel.

A businessman in a gray suit slowed his pace, his coffee frozen halfway to his mouth.

Two women standing near a bus stop saw him and were stunned as they turned to whisper to each other.

An elderly couple sitting on a bench openly watched the group with wide eyes.

Some men looked at him with open admiration.

One young man in a hoodie even secretly gave him a thumbs-up before flashing him a look that said, ’Brother, teach me your ways.’

His friend elbowed him hard in the ribs, but the grin never left his face.

Others looked at him with disbelief.

A security guard standing near the hotel entrance raised an eyebrow so high it nearly disappeared into his hairline.

Some women glanced at him curiously before shifting their attention to the three beautiful women accompanying him.

Their expressions ranged from jealousy to pure confusion.

The combination was certainly eye-catching.

One breathtaking beauty sat in a wheelchair. Her delicate features and pale complexion made her look like a porcelain doll.

Another possessed an elegant, scholarly aura.

Her smart glasses gave her an air of quiet intelligence, and her smooth dark purple hair fell neatly past her shoulders. She walked with a calm grace that drew attention without trying.

The last had an icy temperament that kept everyone at arm’s length. Her silver-white hair caught the sunlight like spun moonlight, and her unfocused eyes gave her an ethereal quality that made people instinctively step aside.

And somehow...

All three were accompanying the same man.

An ordinary-looking man.

Nothing about his appearance was remotely extraordinary. Average height. Average build. Plain features and a face you’d forget five minutes after seeing it.

Yet here he was.

Walking out of a luxury hotel.

With three stunning women.

Mira snorted, trying to suppress a laugh that was growing harder to contain.

"You must be feeling pretty proud right now."

Dexter raised an eyebrow.

"Proud?"

"Your male ego must be soaring."

She gestured her chin toward the people staring at him.

"Walking out of a luxury hotel with three gorgeous women."

"Every man here is probably dying of jealousy right now."

Dexter immediately sensed a trap.

He had fallen for her teasing enough times to know better.

Mira had a talent for baiting him into saying something she could twist later. Her innocent smile was always the first warning sign.

So this time...

His lips curled to a smirk and he harrumped.

"Hmph. You want to cause trouble again."

The he ignored he further teasing.

Seeing him refuse to respond, Mira clicked her tongue.

"Hmph. No fun."

Dexter smiled faintly but said nothing.

Lyra glanced between them with a small smile of her own. The AI translated everything so she heard every word.

Selene, unable to see the exchange, listened and tilted her head, slightly amused.

Their Vehicle soon pulled up in front of the hotel.

"You’re Dexter?"

Dexter responded positively and then carried Mira into the back seat carefully, making sure her legs were positioned comfortably before reaching for the seatbelt. He buckled it for her without being asked.

Then he folded her wheelchair and placed it in the trunk.

Lyra and Selene got in afterward. Lyra helped guide Selene into the seat beside her before settling in herself.

The driver, a middle-aged man with a neatly trimmed beard, glanced at them through the rearview mirror.

’This perverted guy. He actually has three women.’

Finally, his gaze landed on Dexter.

The driver looked as though he wanted to ask a question.

In the end, he wisely chose to remain silent.

The engine hummed to life, and the vehicle smoothly pulled away from the hotel.
