Chapter 344: Chapter 344: A Temporary Detour

Yu Mingche rarely made public appearances. Lin Mo, on the other hand, was one of the youngest vice admirals in the Federation Military and had frequently appeared on the Star Network in the past.

However, both were now dressed in long, silver-white robes with half-masks covering their faces, concealing their identities for the moment. Still, their outstanding auras drew the attention of many.

The two went straight to the medical center to pick up Ning Xuan and Yun Han before going to see Admiral Yang Lei. Admiral Yang Lei recognized Yu Mingche and was quite surprised by the sudden arrival of the Federation’s youngest Seventh-level Governor. In the subsequent conversation, he learned that Yu Mingche, Lin Mo, and Yun Han—the Commander of the Heavenly Might Corps who was using the alias Ning Han—were all Ning Xuan’s Contractors.

"My Lord Contract Master has been in your care during this time, General Yang," Yu Mingche said politely to Yang Lei.

"You’re too kind, Governor Yu. In fact, it was Miss Ning who helped us a great deal," Admiral Yang Lei said, looking at Ning Xuan with an eager expression. "We were attacked at the same time as other military districts, so we had no reinforcements. Without Miss Ning’s help, morale here would have collapsed long ago. Her assistance was crucial. I have already compiled a report on the key role she played in this incident. Once the battle is over and we conduct our post-war summary, I will certainly upload the data to the Military Department so they may reward her for her merits." ’She’s an all-around talent who can charge into battle, perform alchemy to save lives, and even purify sources of contamination. I really want to keep her at the base.’

"That is precisely what I came to ask of you, General Yang. I hope you will delete all video files related to Ning Xuan and ensure that no footage of her is leaked," Yu Mingche stressed.

"Why? Miss Ning’s combat record is outstanding; she deserves to be commended for her military contributions. This is a great opportunity for her to make a name for herself. If the relevant data is deleted, it will be difficult to properly calculate her merits. Of course, I can personally vouch for her, but it won’t be as convincing," Admiral Yang Lei said, somewhat confused.

"Her military merits are not important. What’s important is that no information about her is leaked. Her safety must be the top priority," Yu Mingche said grimly.

"Miss Ning, do you feel the same way?" Yang Lei asked, turning to Ning Xuan.

"Mhm, do as he says." Ning Xuan knew that people from the Mo Family and other Extraordinary Influences were after her, so she fully understood Yu Mingche’s arrangements.

"In that case, I will delete all video footage completely under Governor Yu’s supervision. At the same time, I will report Miss Ning’s accomplishments to the Military Department and do my best to secure the honor and benefits she deserves," Admiral Yang Lei promised.

After reaching a consensus on these matters, Ning Xuan and the others boarded a private starship to leave the resource star. Before she departed, Liu Linfeng and his group blocked her path by the starship, successfully getting her comms number as they had hoped.

From now on, they could send messages to Ning Xuan and call her.

This private starship was Yu Mingche’s own, the Purple Star. It boasted a top-tier defense system, and its comfort and stability were second to none. Its exterior was magnificent and elegant, while the interior was even more opulent. The large, private bedrooms were laid with brightly colored carpets. It was fully equipped with a dining room, a study, a bathroom, and a lounge, and even featured a Cultivation Room paved with Energy Stones.

Yu Mingche’s long fingers lightly swiped across the holographic projection panel in the Purple Star’s main control room. A faint purple halo flowed from his fingertips, illuminating his well-defined profile. Outside the starship, the vast sea of stars was like a flowing tapestry, with countless stars twinkling against the dark backdrop of the universe.

"Little Fa, adjust our course for the Sa108 Star System," Yu Mingche’s voice was deep and magnetic.

"As you command, Master," the starship’s AI butler, Little Fa, responded immediately. "Estimated flight time is three hours. Acceleration engine sequence initiated."

Yu Mingche turned and walked toward the starship’s central hall. The brightly colored carpet underfoot was so soft it felt like walking on clouds. The walls of the hall were inlaid with glowing purple crystals that emitted a gentle light.

Every detail here showcased the owner’s extraordinary taste and immense wealth.

"Lord Contract Master, the starship’s anti-tracking system just received an abnormal signal. For safety, we need to temporarily alter our course. This will extend our return journey by an estimated four to six hours," Yu Mingche reported, approaching Ning Xuan.

Ning Xuan was lounging languidly on a soft sofa in the center of the hall, reading a book. Yun Han knelt beside her, feeding her pieces of prepared fruit.

Hearing Yu Mingche’s report, Ning Xuan simply hummed in acknowledgment.

Yu Mingche could sense a certain coldness in Ning Xuan’s attitude toward him. He had a rough idea why she was being so distant.

"Xuanyuan, I have other matters to report to you. Could you come to my bedroom?" Yu Mingche said, leaning down from behind Ning Xuan.

Before Ning Xuan could react, Yu Mingche finished speaking and scooped her into his arms.

"Yu Mingche, you’re being audacious!" As her body was lifted into the air, Ning Xuan slapped the back of his head.

Yun Han watched Yu Mingche in astonishment, a look of admiration on his face. ’Yu Mingche is deliberately provoking Ning Xuan so she’ll vent her anger on him.’

Lin Mo stood behind them, his expression dimming as he watched Yu Mingche carry Ning Xuan away.

Yun Han stood up and walked over to Lin Mo. "Lin Mo, I told you to seize the opportunity just now. See? Someone else beat you to it again, didn’t they?" Yun Han shook his head with a hint of regret.

"It’s fine. As long as she’s happy," Lin Mo said with a smile.

"How have you been? Has your time by the Contractor’s side been good?" Lin Mo asked.

"Very good." Yun Han’s face instantly flushed, for reasons unknown to Lin Mo.

After Ning Xuan and Yu Mingche entered the bedroom, they didn’t come out. Every cabin on the starship was soundproofed so well that Yun Han and Lin Mo couldn’t hear a single thing from the outside, though they were both curious about what the two were doing in the bedroom.

Bored, Yun Han walked toward the Cultivation Room in the rear of the starship. The walls of this special cabin were inlaid with hundreds of multicolored Energy Stones that pulsed faintly at a specific frequency, creating a perfect Energy Field.

Yun Han sat cross-legged on a levitating platform in the center of the Cultivation Room, his hands resting lightly on his knees. As his breathing steadied, the surrounding Energy Stones began to glow more brightly, and wisps of energy flowed into his body. Half an hour later, he opened his eyes, a faint halo of light flashing through his pupils.

After this period of healing, the scars on Yun Han’s body had long since disappeared. Just as the starship was about to reach the Sa108 Star System, the intelligent system suddenly sounded an alarm.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

"Master, Little Fa has intercepted a warning. A strange external program is attempting to infiltrate the system. Full interception mode has been activated. Please enable manual control procedures to enhance security."
