Chapter 339: Chapter 339: Golden Giant Dragon

"That’s the Golden Needle Acupoint Technique. It’s an incredibly powerful medical skill. I never expected General Ning to have this up his sleeve," Dean Ding Xiangyang whispered, leaning close to Admiral Yang Lei’s ear.

"Is it that powerful? Then can General Zhao be saved?" Admiral Yang Lei asked in return.

Ding Xiangyang shook his head and continued watching Ning Xuan’s movements.

As the Golden Needles entered his body, golden ripples spread out around Zhao Peng. A dozen or so of the needles trembled and hummed within the acupoints on his head. Ning Xuan formed a Lotus Seal with her hands, channeling streams of golden energy into the acupoints where the needles were placed.

The sight was incredibly mystical.

"What is he doing?" Hou Yan couldn’t resist approaching Dean Ding Xiangyang to ask.

Even if they didn’t understand what was happening, they could feel the violent, rampaging spiritual power in the air calm down. The Bone Armor Scales that had been rapidly spreading across Zhao Peng’s body were also starting to recede. These changes proved that Ning Xuan’s treatment was working.

"It’s a treatment. Watch closely. A learning opportunity this good isn’t something you see every day. I never imagined General Ning possessed such incredible medical skill," Ding Xiangyang said excitedly.

Seeing Zhao Peng’s condition stabilize, Ding Xiangyang turned to Admiral Yang Lei. "It’s a waste of his incredible medical talent for General Ning to be leading troops. Old Yang, you should leave him here with me."

Ding Xiangyang’s eyes burned with fervor as he looked at Ning Xuan.

"Don’t even think about it, Old Ding," Yang Lei said, shaking his head in refusal. "If General Ning hadn’t eliminated the Poison Abyss Beast, this whole place would be covered in poisonous miasma by now. The front line can’t afford to lose him."

"General Ning, since you can clear the poisonous miasma, can you do anything about the pollution outside?" Yang Lei asked with some urgency.

"That’s just wishful thinking, Old Yang. The pollution outside comes from the spatial rift. As long as the rift exists, the pollution will never disappear. Don’t put General Ning on the spot," Ding Xiangyang said. His eyes were fixed eagerly on Ning Xuan; he was fascinated by this Golden Needle Acupoint Technique and wondered if he could ask for some pointers.

First, Ning Xuan administered an Alienation Value Clearing Potion and a Spiritual Calming Potion. She immediately followed this with the Golden Needle Acupoint Technique, which helped the medicine rapidly enter his bloodstream and Sea of Consciousness. Using a special method, she then stimulated Zhao Peng’s innate healing abilities to purge the mutated genes and soothe his turbulent Spiritual Sea.

This series of procedures was second nature to Ning Xuan. The medicines she concocted were of extremely high purity, which was why they had such an immediate and dramatic effect.

As Ning Xuan removed the Golden Needles, Zhao Peng’s consciousness returned. He looked at Ning Xuan, his expression a mixture of complex emotions, and said, "Thank you for saving my life, General Ning."

He had been conscious as he watched his own Spiritual Sea get devoured by a black substance, the mutated genes in his blood gradually taking control. In that moment, he could only watch helplessly, without even the chance to take his own life.

He had been certain he was going to die, never imagining he’d get a chance to regain his senses. However, when Ning Xuan had performed the Golden Needle technique to repair his collapsing Spiritual Sea, she had imbued the needles with her spiritual power. There is a fundamental difference between male and female spiritual power. Thus, Zhao Peng had already sensed the truth: this General Ning, who had earned such outstanding military honors in just a few short months, was actually a female Spirit Controller.

"Zhao Peng, you’re awake? That’s wonderful!" But just as Admiral Yang and the others were celebrating, the communications officer beside him took a call, and his face instantly paled.

"General, on the outermost defensive line, the entire Seventh Squad has fully mutated! They... they’re attacking the first protective barrier! The deputy commander is asking for your orders, sir. Should we eliminate them all?" the communications officer relayed.

"They all mutated? Is that report confirmed? Go, patch in the live feed, now!" Admiral Yang Lei gasped in disbelief.

Not wanting the news from the front to affect morale in the medical center, Admiral Yang Lei stormed out. Before he left, he grabbed Ning Xuan and, without any explanation, pulled him along.

Ding Xiangyang sighed, watching helplessly as they departed the medical center.

"Oh, honestly! We still have so many difficult cases here!" Ding Xiangyang watched Ning Xuan’s departing figure with great reluctance, wishing he could drag him right back.

"Dean, General Ning Zhi asked me to give these to you. They’re Spiritual Calming Potions and Alienation Value Clearing Potions, and they’re all highly effective." Yun Han had started to follow Ning Xuan out but was sent back on an errand to deliver three large cases of the medicine to Ding Xiangyang.

"Is this the same medicine General Ning just used on General Zhao? Excellent! Xue Feng, I’m putting you in charge of these. Assess each patient’s condition before administering a dose, and be sure to keep detailed records for tracking." Ding Xiangyang immediately handed the task to his most trusted confidant.

Back at the medical center, General Zhao Peng had been saved. And now, with the medicine provided by Ning Xuan, the conditions of many other patients were improving. For a short while, a sense of calm settled over the facility.

Yang Lei’s face was grim as he stared at the live feed from the front. A squad of completely bestialized soldiers was frantically attacking the first protective barrier. This barrier not only blocked invasions from Exotic Beasts but also filtered toxins from the air; it was the outermost shield protecting the temporary base.

The soldiers attacking the barrier no longer bore any human features on their faces or bodies. Only the standard-issue combat uniforms they still wore served as proof of their former identities.

"Commander, give the order! They’re beyond saving! We can’t let that barrier be breached!" the deputy commander’s trembling voice crackled through the comms.

On the monitor, a "soldier" completely covered in scales was frantically hacking at the protective barrier with a mutated bone blade, causing it to erupt in a shower of blinding sparks.

Yang Lei struggled to make out the faint outlines of familiar features beneath the monstrous faces. Not long ago, these had been his comrades, men who had fought shoulder-to-shoulder with him, all of them hoping to survive this crisis together.

"Ning Zhi, is there anything you can do?" Yang Lei looked at Ning Xuan, his eyes bloodshot, his expression a mixture of pleading and hope. "They’re all heroes who led the charge, the vanguard on the front lines! If we just wipe them out, who will dare to fight at the forefront anymore?"

With no other options, Yang Lei found himself pinning his faint hopes on Ning Xuan.

"I’ll give it a try." With a WHOOSH, Ning Xuan shot forward on her hoverboard.

"All units, listen up! General Ning has reached the front line! He will attempt to..." Yang Lei trailed off, unable to continue. Even if Ning Zhi made it to the front, what could she possibly do?

’With so many soldiers completely mutated and out of their minds, what could he possibly do?’

CRACK! A deafening peal of thunder exploded overhead. A colossal golden dragon rose into the air from behind Ning Xuan, carrying a torrent of lightning as it charged toward the mindless soldiers, enveloping them in a blinding golden light.
