Chapter 136: LAW
Sparks flew through the void of space, two colors mixing and intertwining.
One was golden, sharp, precise, and elegant.
The other was dark, raging, wild, and ferocious.
Where one cut, the other destroyed.
Where one moved with grace, the other moved with rage.
Planets and stars were reduced to cosmic dust in their wake.
It felt like a battle between two gods, with the void as the mortal world paying the price for their fury.
Levi pivoted to the side, his movement calm, almost casual, as if he were merely toying around.
Patrick’s leg burst through the space Levi had occupied just moments ago.
It met emptiness.
Dark flames spiraled from that spot like a wave, rippling through the void as they burnt through the very fabric of space.
Levi swung his light sword at the flames, slicing through them before they could reach him.
The sword pressed forward with undeterred momentum, arcing toward Patrick’s neck.
Patrick bent beneath the sword.
The blade tore a line through the void above Patrick’s head.
Levi pulled back, stepping away just in time to avoid a rising kick from Patrick.
His sword flashed forward with a radiant golden red.
Patrick did not dodge. He met it head on with his leg.
An explosion rippled outward, spreading far enough to distort space across a wide radius.
At this point, the laws of reality had begun to falter in the surrounding area.
A crack formed behind Patrick.
Levi’s main sword pierced through the crack toward Patrick’s nape.
Patrick dodged. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
No. He thought he had dodged.
His body was held in place.
Time itself pressed against his very existence, pinning him down for the sword to strike.
The sword was mere inches from his neck.
Boom.
Dark flames burst through, devouring the chains of time as though they had never mattered.
The dark flames did not stop. Like an inferno finally allowed to unleash its true power, they began to spread outward.
Patrick grinned.
"Remember. You caused this."
Levi furrowed his brows.
Then he saw the path of the flames.
Patrick was extending the reach of his attack to its maximum range, which could span an entire star system in scale.
If it truly reached that far, the children would not be safe.
They would be caught within the flames.
Levi sighed.
His blade dissipated into fragments of light as he clasped his hands together.
Boom.
Time stopped.
On a larger scale this time.
Space itself gave in, folding and pressing against the flames until they died out.
"You would go that far to protect those children?" Patrick asked with a long sigh.
Levi looked at Patrick with a cold gaze.
"You would go that far to kill them."
There was a long silence between both sides.
"Stop stalling. No one is coming to rescue you," Levi suddenly said.
Patrick glanced at Levi.
Then came a wild laugh. freeweɓnovel.cøm
"I should be saying that to you."
Levi shook his head.
Suddenly, a light shot into his body, faster than Patrick could react.
It was his soul fragment, the one he had sent to destroy the enemy ship and watch over the students.
Levi absorbed all the information in less than a breath.
Then a smile formed on his lips.
It was genuine.
"I need to get going. It seems the students have passed my test."
Patrick frowned.
"What test?" He asked.
Levi shot him a cold look.
"Since when did I permit you to question me?" He asked.
Another crack appeared beneath his hand and he drew his sword out of it.
The temperature in the area dropped to an extreme degree.
This was not about heat or cold.
It was killing intent. So pure and undiluted that it could suffocate even Patrick, who stood at the same stage as Levi.
"You served well as a punching bag."
Those were the words Patrick heard before Levi lunged.
Levi brought his sword up.
No aether. No element. No soul energy.
Just plain steel.
"Law of Severance."
The words left his mouth, cold and direct, as if everything in reality held no meaning anymore.
Patrick smiled at the sight.
"Law of Redirection," he yelled.
Levi’s sword slashed.
Crack.
Patrick’s eyes widened as the sword cut through his body.
There was no visible wound, but he felt it. His disconnection from the universe, as if reality itself had forgotten he ever existed.
"No. My Law was supposed to reverse the effect of yours," Patrick yelled.
Levi did not look back. He turned toward the ship, leaving Patrick’s body as it began to fade like shattered glass.
"You cannot compare your Law to mine," Levi said to the blue wisp in his hand.
It was Patrick’s soul, severed from his body.
The wisp struggled to escape his palm, but to no avail.
He threw it into one of his planes.
In a flicker of blinding golden light, Levi vanished.
He reappeared inside the Academy’s spaceship.
"This is far more broken than I anticipated," he muttered with a smile.
But he did not dwell on it.
His eyes found Silas still floating in the air.
"First, the students."
As he said this, the power of Law began to leak from his body, permeating the air in an aura that calmed everyone, even the injured.
"Law of Return."
The Law energy began to swirl, punching a hole through the river of time.
Levi looked through it, then stretched his hand into the opening.
With a single snap, he grasped something from within the river.
Boom.
The hole snapped shut instantly.
Beams of light began to shoot through the roof of the ship.
The dead students, whether whole or torn apart, began to resurrect, their bodies regrowing from whatever remained of them.
Some of those watching threw up.
A boy looked at his own head still lying on the floor, then at the new one that had grown back on his neck.
His eyes widened, his hands clutching the new head.
"I hate going through this process," Levi sighed as he watched.
