Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Yue Yue is nervous!

Lin En leaned in close, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. She didn’t seem to notice Yue Yue’s internal panic.

"Yue Yue, where have you been for so many days? You missed so much! The battles, the displays of strength... everyone was asking about you." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Yue Yue felt a cold sweat on her neck. She couldn’t exactly say, ’Oh, I was busy being kissed by the High Priest and learning how to not leak energy like a broken pipe.’

"I was... busy serving in the inner temple," Yue Yue replied vaguely, her voice a bit shaky. "The duties there are very strict."

Luckily, Lin En was too excited about the event to press for more details. She dismissed the answer with a wave of her hand and immediately started pointing at the crowd below. "You missed the best parts, but look! Now is the time when the real powerhouses show themselves."

She leaned even closer, her face turning a bright shade of pink as she whispered, "Do you see the man on that higher platform? The one with the golden armor and the fierce expression?"

Yue Yue squinted, trying to see where Lin En was pointing.

"That is the First Prince of the Sand Empire," Lin En whispered like a total fangirl. "He is incredible. He actually saved me once when I was in trouble... I like him so much." She let out a long, dramatic sigh.

"But I don’t know if I can even stand by his side. He is an SS-rank Orc. If my fertility or spiritual compatibility doesn’t reach at least A-rank today, I won’t be worthy of him. A male like that deserves the best."

Yue Yue looked toward the platform. Even from a distance, the man looked like a mountain of power. His presence was heavy and commanding, and he looked quite handsome in a rugged, warrior sort of way.

Yue Yue realized that according to the "plot" of this world, this was likely the first male lead of the story.

Seeing Lin En so worried, Yue Yue gave her a small, encouraging smile. "Don’t worry, Lin En. I have a feeling he is already yours. You’re beautiful and kind; why wouldn’t he want you?"

Lin En’s face lit up instantly, her eyes glowing with hope. "Oh, Yue Yue! You don’t have to say that just for my sake. I know I’m not that great, but hearing you say it makes me so happy!"

Yue Yue nodded to herself. She was glad to see the female lead happy, but her own mind was elsewhere. She kept glancing at the high, empty throne. The High Priest was still missing.

The air in the hall grew tense as the High Priest’s attendants began to arrange the testing crystals in the center of the arena. This was it. The moment when every female’s "value" would be displayed for the entire world to see.

Yue Yue felt a sharp jab of anxiety in her stomach. She wasn’t worried about being "worthy" of an Orc...she already had Han Soi.

She was worried that the crystal would scream her secrets to the world. If the green light for her plant-growing ability or the presence of her egg showed up during the test, she would be in huge trouble.

The atmosphere in the Main Hall became very serious. A junior priest stepped forward to the center of the podium, his voice amplified by spiritual energy so everyone could hear him clearly. He began to explain the rules of the testing.

"The test is simple," the priest announced.

"Each female will place her hand upon the Sacred Crystal. The crystal will read your life force and your soul. It will then display your results on the screen behind me. This is the truth of the Beast God, and it cannot be faked."

Yue Yue watched as another temple servant unrolled a long list. He began to call out names in a loud, formal voice, including the family background of each girl.

"Lady Su Lan of the Iron Rhinoceros Clan, please step forward!"

A young woman in a dress covered in jewels stood up gracefully. She walked to the podium with her head held high, looking very confident. She reached out and touched the large, glowing crystal.

Immediately, the crystal glowed with a soft light. A massive virtual screen flickered into existence behind her, hovering in the air for all the Orcs to see. It showed her name, her age, and then two large bars of light began to fill up.

The first bar was for Fertility. It climbed higher and higher until it hit a bright, sparkling A.

The girl gasped, her face breaking into a delighted smile. In this world, an A-rank in fertility was very rare and highly desired. It meant she was healthy and capable of continuing a strong bloodline.

Then, the second bar for Spiritual Compatibility began to move. It surged past C, then B, and finally stopped at a solid B++.

The crowd of Orcs below let out a collective roar of approval. A B++ was a very strong score; she would be able to comfort and heal almost any high-level warrior. The girl bowed to the crowd, looking like she had just won a kingdom, and walked back to her seat with a proud skip in her step.

Yue Yue felt her stomach twist into a knot. She looked at the giant screen and then at the glowing crystal. To the other females, this was a moment of glory. To her, it looked like a trap.

If a normal noble girl could cause that much excitement with an A-rank, what would happen when she...a girl who was already pregnant and possessed dual powers...touched that thing? freewebnovёl.ƈom

"Don’t be nervous," Lin En whispered, seeing Yue Yue’s pale face. "You’ll be fine."

But Yue Yue wasn’t so sure. She glanced at the door, half-hoping the High Priest would walk in and cancel the whole thing, but the seat of the Priest remained empty. The servant looked down at his list again.

"Next! Lady Mei of the Green Leaf Pavilion!"

The process continued, name after name, result after result. The tension in the room was building like a storm, and Yue Yue knew her name would be called sooner or later.
