Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Yue Yue Falls Into the Lake

The pressure of those bleeding red eyes was too much for Yue Yue’s small beast form to handle.

The air around the High Priest was thick with a terrifying, suffocating power. Her tiny heart gave one final, panicked flutter before her vision went black, and her small snake body fell limp on the cold stone floor.

Feng Yanshen didn’t move for a long time. He stood over her, the shadow of his white robes swallowing her small white frame. Slowly, he reached down. His long, pale fingers grazed her scales with a slow, rhythmic stroke.

Suddenly, his hand stopped.

His fingers moved to her tiny neck, circling it.

A violent, dark urge surged through him. He felt like he could squeeze right then... just one small movement of his thumb and the female who dared to seek warmth from another man would be gone forever. His anger was a living thing, a monster screaming behind his eyes.

He closed his eyes, his knuckles turning white as he fought his own bloodlust. The silence of the dawn was broken only by the sound of his ragged breathing.

After a tense minute, he forced his hand to relax. He didn’t kill her.

Instead, he lifted her limp body and brought it close to his face. He leaned in, his nose brushing against her small head as he sniffed the lingering scent of the "wild man" Han Soi on her.

His lip curled in a sneer.

"You are more important than the dead... little female," he whispered, his voice a low, terrifying crawl.

He cradled her in his palm, his red eyes glowing with a possessive, predatory light.

The gentle "Holy Priest" was nowhere to be found; in his place stood a man who would burn the world to keep what he wanted.

"I have given you enough time to play outside," he murmured, his thumb tracing her head one last time.

"But your time is over. You have played enough. From now on, you won’t even be able to see the sun without my permission."

He tucked the unconscious little snake into the deep folds of his robes, right against his cold chest. He didn’t put his blindfold back on. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

He didn’t need it anymore. He turned toward the Inner Sanctum, his white robes billowing like a funeral shroud as he walked through the shadows.

The small miniature terminal that was tied to her tail also slipped away. In the struggle of being swept up, the device had been crushed under a cold, white boot, left in the dirt as a pile of broken glass and a useless device.

When Yue Yue finally opened her eyes, she didn’t feel the cold stone of the drainage pipe or the terrifying pressure of the priest’s aura.

Instead, she felt like she was floating.

She woke up in a place so serene it felt like a dream. She was lying on a massive, soft cushion made of pure white silk that felt like a cloud.

As she looked around, her tiny gemstone eyes went wide with awe. This wasn’t a temple room; it was a literal paradise.

The ceiling was the open sky, but instead of stars, there were soft, glowing mists. Real clouds drifted lazily through the air, low enough for her to touch with her tail.

A magnificent waterfall tumbled from a floating cliff, the water disappearing into the mist with a musical sound.

Nearby, a crystal clear lake sparkled, surrounded by tiny celestial animals... small white deer with glowing antlers and silver furred rabbits... all drinking peacefully.

Yue Yue realized she was still in her tiny snake form. The beauty of the place made her forget her fear for a moment.

She slithered off the silk cushion, her scales shimmering as she moved across the soft, mossy ground.

She felt thirsty, so she wiggled to the edge of the lake, mimicking the other animals as she took tiny sips of the cool, sweet water.

Then, she spotted a small plant with low hanging, glowing fruits. Hungry, she climbed the stem and began digging into a soft fruit.

She was eating so happily that she suddenly realized she must have looked like a common garden worm digging into an apple.

Embarrassed by her lack of "Goddess" dignity, she quickly wiggled back to the lake to wash the sticky juice off her scales.

Just as she was splashing in the water, a melodious, high pitched cry echoed through the heavens. It was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard.

Yue Yue looked up, her heart stopping. Something was tearing through the clouds, soaring toward the light. It was massive, radiant, and covered in feathers that glowed with divine light.

"A phoenix..." she hissed in a tiny, breathless voice. "It’s an actual phoenix!"

She watched in wonder as the legendary bird looped through the sky. But then, her wonder turned to pure, icy terror.

The phoenix suddenly shifted its path. It tucked its wings, turned its sharp, glowing eyes downward, and dove straight toward her.

To a giant phoenix, a tiny white snake was nothing more than a snack.

Yue Yue stood paralyzed in the water, her tiny heart thumping as the shadow of the great bird loomed over her, its talons reaching out.

The white phoenix descended with a soft, ethereal cry, its snowy feathers glowing like moonlight scattered through the clouds.

Its presence was not violent, it was calm, holy, almost soothing... but Yue Yue didn’t know that.

To her frightened little snake heart...

A giant sacred beast diving toward her felt like death itself.

Her body froze in terror.

When the phoenix’s talons scooped her up, Yue Yue panicked. She writhed desperately, twisting and wriggling with all her strength, terrified she would be eaten.

The phoenix let out a startled chirp and instinctively loosened its grip. Unfortunately, her tiny body slipped and she fell.

The world flipped upside down before she struck the lake, plunging into the cold depths with a muffled splash.

The softness of paradise vanished into dark water.

She immediately sank, unable to swim the vast distance with her current size in this form. Water rushed into her mouth, burning her lungs as panic exploded inside her.

No... I’ll drown...!

Her vision dimmed.

Her instincts screamed desperately.

I must... turn back...

Light stirred beneath the surface. Her scales glowed and her body stretched into a human silhouette within the radiant water...
