Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Turning Into a Tiny Snake Just to Cuddle My Man

Finally, the sun dipped below the horizon, and Yue Yue was allowed to return to her assigned quarters. The moment the door clicked shut, she face planted onto the large bed.

"Phew... finally!" she muffled into the pillows.

Her body felt like it had been run over by a spaceship. Between the drama with the Princess, the stress of meeting the Female Lead, and that terrifying High Priest staring at her with his invisible eyes, she was drained.

But as the silence of the room settled in, a different kind of exhaustion took over, a hollow ache in her chest.

She had been away from Han Soi for an entire day. To anyone else, it was just a few hours, but to her, it felt like she had been exiled for a century. Her heart felt like it was actually bleeding from the pain of separation.

"I can’t take it anymore," she whined, rolling over and opening her terminal.

She quickly dialed Han Soi’s terminal. Her heart hammered against her ribs as the icon spun on the screen. Pick up, pick up, pick up...

The call connected.

Suddenly, Han Soi’s face zoomed onto the holographic display. The cold, murderous expression he usually wore for the world was gone instantly.

The moment his eyes landed on Yue Yue, his face filled with such raw, overflowing love and relief that Yue Yue felt like crying.

"Yue Yue," he rasped, his voice deep and rough. "You finally called."

Yue Yue’s eyes turned red as she looked at him through the screen. "Husband... I missed you so much. I hate this place. I hate the silver gate. I hate the rules."

Han Soi’s gaze softened even more, his thumb reaching out to brush the screen as if he could touch her cheek. "I know. I’ve been counting every second. Did anyone bully you? Tell me their names, and they won’t see tomorrow’s sunrise."

Yue Yue giggled through her sniffles, feeling her spirits lift. "I already handled them! But... where are you right now? Are you back at the ship?"

Han Soi looked away for a second, a bit of awkwardness crossing his handsome face. "No. I’m just... waiting for my wife."

Yue Yue paused, then her eyes widened. "Wait... you’re still outside the palace? Under the gate?"

"I told you," he said firmly, "I would be the first thing you see when you come out. I’m not moving an inch."

Yue Yue’s heart throbbed with sweetness and heartache. The Great Duke, the War God of the Empires, was sitting on a cold stone bench outside a wall like a lonely guard dog just to be near her.

"You’re such a dummy!" she scolded, though her voice was full of affection. "Send me your exact location. Right now."

Han Soi blinked, confused. "Why? You can’t come out, Yue Yue. The females are not allowed."

"Just send it!" she coaxed, using her most persuasive, sweet voice. "Please? For your wife?" freewebnσvel.cѳm

Han Soi could never say no to that tone. Within seconds, a ping sounded on her terminal as the coordinates arrived.

"I have to go now before a servant comes by," Yue Yue whispered, blowing a kiss at the screen. "Don’t be sad, okay? I love you."

"I love you more," Han Soi replied, his eyes burning with possessiveness.

The call disconnected, leaving the room quiet again. Yue Yue jumped off the bed, her exhaustion completely gone.

"If the door is locked," she muttered, tying her hair back with a determined look, "then this little snake is just going to have to find a hole in the wall."

Yue Yue looked at the door, then at the window, and finally at her own reflection. If she tried to walk out the front gate, those stone faced servants would stop her. But they were expecting a human girl, not a tiny, slithering snake.

With a soft poof of energy, Yue Yue shifted. Her long legs and soft skin vanished, replaced by smooth, shimmering white scales. She was now a tiny, adorable little snake, no thicker than a person’s thumb.

She looked at her communication terminal lying on the bed. "Can’t leave this behind," she hissed softly. She managed to wrap her tiny tail around the device, which shrunk down automatically to fit her new size thanks to its high tech nano design. She tied it securely to the tip of her tail like a strange, glowing piece of jewelry.

"Okay, let’s go!"

She wiggled off the bed and dropped onto the floor with a tiny thud. She scrambled toward the balcony, her little heart thumping against the cold marble.

She realized as she checked the map that Han Soi wasn’t just "nearby"... he was practically straight away from her window. He had picked the closest possible spot to her specific room, wanting to be near her heartbeat even if a wall was in the way.

It was a funny sight: a tiny snake with a miniature iPad like device strapped to her tail, zig zagging through the grass, hiding under giant flower petals whenever a patrol of temple servants walked by.

Wiggle, wiggle, hide.

Wiggle, wiggle, freeze.

Finally, she reached the base of the massive outer wall. She found a small drainage gap meant for rainwater and squeezed through. On the other side, she saw a pair of polished black military boots.

She looked up. Han Soi was sitting on a stone bench, his arms crossed, looking like a dark, brooding statue.

Yue Yue slithered over and gave his boot a tiny, affectionate nip.

Han Soi jumped, his hand instinctively flying to the hilt of his blade. He looked down, expecting an assassin or a temple pest, but instead, he saw a tiny white snake looking up at him with familiar, sparkling blue eyes. A miniature terminal was wagging behind her on her tail.

"Yue Yue?" he whispered, his jaw nearly hitting the ground. "You... you actually came out?"

He was shocked. He knew his wife was brave, but he didn’t expect her to turn into a secret agent snake just to see him.

He quickly reached down, his massive hand scooping her up with more care than he used for the Empire’s most important treasure.

Yue Yue didn’t waste time. She nuzzled his palm before quickly slithering up his muscular arm, disappearing into his thick military sleeve.

A second later, her tiny head poked out from the collar of his shirt, right against his neck, flicking her tongue at his chin.

Han Soi felt a rush of warmth and possessiveness so strong he almost growled.

He wrapped his hand over his collar, shielding her from view. He didn’t wait for a guard to spot him. With his SSS rank speed, he blurred into motion, disappearing from the forbidden palace walls in a flash of dark shadow.

He headed straight for his own assigned quarters in the guest wing. He had his wife back, even if she was currently a tiny noodle hiding in his clothes.

Yue Yue was also not silent. She wiggled inside his clothes all the way, sensing his warmth and finally settling against his heart, which was her favourite spot, where she could hear his heartbeat always.
