Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Second Villain?

Yue Yue was fuming. Her tiny fangs were out, her hood was flared as much as a small snake’s could be, and she was putting every ounce of her "Young Madam" dignity into a terrifying hiss.

To her, she was a legendary beast protecting her honor. To the man in white, she looked like a spicy white noodle.

"Hiss! Hiss-hiss!" (I’ll bite you! Put me down, you obsessed weirdo!)

The man didn’t look threatened at all. Instead, he used his index finger to gently boop her on the head. "So fierce. Are you trying to act like a big dragon? You’re barely the size of a bracelet."

Yue Yue snapped at his finger, but the man was too fast. He moved his hand away and then tickled her under her chin.

Yue Yue’s body betrayed her; the spot he hit was actually quite itchy, and for a second, her threatening hiss turned into a confused wiggle.

No! Stop that! I am a villain’s wife, not a toy! The man then laid her across his palm and poked her tail, which was still stubbornly clutching the protective shield artifact.

"And what is this? You even have a little toy? Do you play fetch with the Black Winged Serpent?"

Yue Yue’s gemstone eyes widened with indignation. A toy? This is a high-level defensive artifact, you uncultured human-looking beast! freēwēbηovel.c૦m

She tried to swing the artifact at his finger, but because she was so small, she only ended up hitting his thumb with a soft clink.

The man laughed, a sound like silver bells. "Oh my, you’re trying to fight me with a trinket. How adorable. If I take you home, I’ll have to make you a tiny throne made of white jade to match your scales."

Yue Yue froze. A throne? White jade? For a split second, her material-girl heart wavered. No! Yue Yue, stay focused! Han Soi is literally turning the sky black over there for you!

She decided to try a new tactic: the "death roll." She twisted her body frantically in his palm, trying to be as slippery and annoying as possible. But the man just cupped his other hand over her, creating a cozy little dark cave.

"Don’t struggle, little snow-drop," he cooed. "The air out here is toxic. Stay in my hands; my energy will keep you warm."

Yue Yue stopped struggling for a moment. It was true...the burning sensation on her belly was fading, replaced by a cool, soothing energy coming from his palms. She looked up at his blue eyes, feeling conflicted.

He’s a weirdo, she thought. Then, she remembered she had a reputation to uphold.

She let out one last, half-hearted hiss and turned her head away from him, refusing to look at his handsome face.

The man poked her tail again. "Sulking? You really are like a little princess."

Yue Yue ignored him. Just wait until my husband finishes his fight. He’s going to turn you into grilled meat!

This man wasn’t just admiring her; he was looking at her like a limited-edition collector’s item!

She looked down at her snow-white scales, and for the first time in her life, she hated being so white. Can I turn green? Can I roll in the dirt and look like a gray worm? But even the toxic mud wouldn’t stick to her magically clean scales.

She twisted her head, trying to look past the giant rock to see Han Soi. The sky was still a mess of black lightning and violent wind. She could hear the roar of the Black Winged Serpent, but she couldn’t see him.

Suddenly, a familiar sound rang in her brain.

Ding!

Yue Yue’s gemstone eyes widened until they were perfectly round. Second Villain? Where? She slowly turned her head back to the man holding her. He was still smiling, his ice-blue eyes glowing with a soft, terrifying light.

Oh no. Oh, I am truly doomed, she wailed internally. Why are all the villains in this world complete psychopaths?!

First, there was that "holy" priest who was actually so unholy, and now this "white freak" who looked like an angel but was clearly a stalker in the making.

Only her Han Soi was a "normal" kind of scary!

The man suddenly reached up and pulled down the white cloth covering the lower half of his face. Yue Yue’s breath caught.

He was incredibly young, with features so sharp and beautiful they looked like they were sculpted from ice. He gave her a wide, blinding grin that didn’t reach his cold eyes.

"Do you want to come with me?" he asked, his voice smooth as silk. "I have a palace made of white marble. No dirt, no black mist. Just us. We would look so perfect together, wouldn’t we?"

Yue Yue was frozen. To him, the little snake looked "stunned" by his beauty. He didn’t know she was actually running a background check on him as a "Second Villain" and screaming for her husband.

Before she could even react, He leaned down. His lips brushed the very top of her tiny white head in a soft, gentle kiss.

"Eek!" Yue Yue shrieked (in her head).

The kiss scared the soul right out of her tiny body. It wasn’t a sweet kiss; it felt like a mark of ownership. Her tail twitched violently, and she almost dropped her protective shield.

He’s crazy! Han Soi, save me! This white-haired psycho is trying to make me a house pet!

The white-robed man chuckled at her "shivering" form, rubbing his thumb over her scales. "Don’t be scared, little snow-drop. I’ll take much better care of you than that violent serpent ever could."

Suddenly a dark shadow flickered beside them.

The man in the black robe...the one who had been fighting Han Soi appeared out of the mist, his clothes torn and his breathing heavy.

He looked urgent. "Let’s go! We don’t have much time. He’s coming, and he’s gone completely berserk!"

The white-robed man didn’t seem panicked; he just sighed regretfully and pulled his white face cover back up.

The man in black glanced at the tiny white snake in his hand with a look of pure distaste. To him, she was just a useless piece of meat, completely beneath his notice.

"Leave that trash and move," the black-robed man snapped.

"She’s not trash; she’s a masterpiece," he replied smoothly, his blue eyes glinting. He began to reach for his pocket, clearly intending to stuff Yue Yue inside and kidnap her.

No way! I am not becoming a collectible! Yue Yue didn’t wait. With a burst of power, she snapped her head forward and sunk her tiny needle fangs into his thumb.

"Ugh!" The white-robed man flinched. He wasn’t hurt...she was too small, but the sheer shock of his "precious masterpiece" biting him made his grip loosen.

Yue Yue felt herself falling. Thud. She hit the ground, but she didn’t care about the sting this time. She scrambled toward a thick, thorny bush just as a terrifying roar ripped through the clearing.

BOOM!

A massive black shadow crashed into the center of the area. Han Soi had arrived. He didn’t even look like a sane person but an enraged monster.

He lunged at the two robed men with a killing intent so strong it made the very air vibrate.

The white-robed man dodged the attack, his eyes darting toward the spot where he had dropped Yue Yue. He actually stepped forward, reaching out as if he wanted to snatch her back even in the middle of a battlefield.

"Are you insane?" The black-robed man roared, grabbing his arm. "We already got the Core Treasure! Let’s go!"
