Chapter 40: Chapter 40: The Father’s Fury
Han Ruyan walked away from the docking area and took a different path through the inner fortress.
The deeper he went, the quieter it became.
Soon, he stopped in front of a massive alloy door carved with the ancient emblem of the Winged Serpent clan. The door slid open with a soft mechanical sound.
Inside was a luxurious office.
The space was vast and cold, built from black stone and rare metals. At the center sat an old man behind a wide desk. His hair was streaked with gray, his back straight, his presence heavy.
The air around him was darker and suppressed.
This was Han Qiaone, the Clan Master of the Winged Serpent clan.
A terrifying aura radiated from his body, filling the entire room.
The moment Han Ruyan stepped inside, his own aura suddenly surged in response. A proud, smug smile appeared on his face. He walked forward confidently, then bowed slightly.
"Father," he said loudly, unable to hide his excitement.
"I am going to marry. I have brought a female for myself."
His tone was proud and self-satisfied. In his mind, this was good news.
After all, females were rare. If he married and produced a child first, the future heir of the Winged Serpent clan would be his bloodline.
His useless elder brother would never get the chance.
Han Ruyan was already imagining it: the throne, the clan, and the future secured for his own child.
But suddenly...Han Qiaone lifted his eyes. They were cold and empty of any warmth.
Han Ruyan’s heart skipped a beat. Cold sweat instantly broke out on his back.
He didn’t know what he had done wrong. But even so, he forced himself to stay confident. Surely his father would be happy. After all, he would be the one who would give him a hier.
Before Han Ruyan could speak again...
Slap!
A loud sound echoed through the office.
Han Ruyan was sent stumbling sideways. His head snapped to the side, his teeth rattling violently. A sharp taste of blood filled his mouth.
He froze in shock.
He slowly lifted his head and stared at his father with a burning, confused gaze.
"Why did you slap me?" he asked, anger rising in his voice.
Han Qiaone’s expression twisted with rage. His mustache trembled as his aura exploded.
"The Beast God gave you power and rank," he snarled, "but it seems it forgot to give you a brain."
He slammed a tablet onto the desk and shoved it toward Han Ruyan.
"Look." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Han Ruyan’s eyes fell on the screen.
His pupils shrank.
The StarNet was flooded with information about him. Videos, Images, and Headlines.
Second Young Master of the Winged Serpent Clan Boldly Kidnaps a Female; Crime Committed in Empire Under Federation Jurisdiction.
The comments were exploding. The community channels were in chaos.
Han Ruyan’s anger only grew as he stared at the screen.
"Who the fuck dared to record this old incident?" he roared. "I’ll skin that bastard alive!" freewebnovel.cσ๓
Han Qiaone turned back to Han Ruyan, his eyes burning.
"You kidnapped a female," he growled.
"And someone recorded it. Do you even understand what that means?"
He slammed his fist on the desk.
"Have you lost your mind? Or are you not even from the Winged Serpent clan?"
"How could I have fathered such a useless son!"
Han Ruyan clenched his teeth.
"And you dared," Han Qiaone continued coldly, "to kidnap your elder brother’s female."
His veins bulged as he shouted, "Have you lost all shame?"
Han Ruyan tightened his fists until his nails dug into his palms. Then he forced a gentler expression onto his face and spoke carefully.
"Father, I did not kidnap her," he said. "I just like her."
"She has no real relationship with my elder brother. She just met with him. Maybe they have some friction, but it’s nothing serious."
"I like her," he repeated. "So I’m going to marry her."
To win his father’s favor, he added quickly, "If Elder Brother truly likes that female, then he will definitely come back to the Winged Serpent clan because of her."
"You always wanted him to return," Han Ruyan said smoothly. "I’m giving you that opportunity."
Han Qiaone paused.
His expression slowly changed.
The anger in his eyes faded slightly. He leaned back, silent for a long moment. Then a small smile appeared...one he quickly suppressed.
"It would be good," he said slowly, "if your elder brother came back."
He looked at Han Ruyan again, no longer as furious.
"If you want to marry a female, I won’t stop you," he said coldly. "But handle this news first."
"I don’t want a stain on the Winged Serpent clan," he warned. "Or on my name."
"Get out."
Han Ruyan bowed and turned to leave.
The moment the door closed behind him, his face darkened completely.
Anger surged through him.
His fists clenched tightly as he realized one thing...His father had softened only because of the mention of his elder brother.
Han Ruyan’s eyes turned cold.
"As long as I’m alive," he whispered. "He will never step back into this clan."
He marched down the corridor, activating his terminal. He sent some messages to his trusted man.
Within seconds, orders were issued.
He would erase the news. Silence the channels and control the narrative. And once the situation turned in his favor, he would skin all of them who dared to say nonsense about him; he would slap their faces after marrying her and would prove that the female was willing.
He would not allow a stain on the Winged Serpent clan.
And he would never allow a stain on himself.
And about his brother, all he could do was rot in hell, and he wouldn’t give a fuck about him. It’s better if he doesn’t come here and lives his miserable life as a duke.
Because if he comes back or dares to lay the claim on his place, he would forget Han Soi is his elder brother.
