Chapter 281: Chapter 281: Villain Mode: Do Not Provoke
The space had shattered like a mirror, and when Xing Luoye finally hit the ground, the world he knew was gone.
The sky here was a bruised purple, swirling with thick, toxic clouds that smelled of rotting meat. Every few seconds, the earth would tremble as portals flickered open and shut in the distance, spitting out skittering, multi legged Zerg.
Xing Luoye stood in the center of a literal mountain of corpses. Polluted beasts and Zerg lay piled high around him, their green and black blood staining his boots. His breathing was heavy, his silver white hair messy and stuck to his forehead with sweat.
Against his chest, tucked securely into a specialized, reinforced harness, were two small, trembling bundles. His twin Griffin cubs. He had wrapped them so thoroughly in high grade protective material that only their tiny heads were peeking out. Their eyes were wide with fear, but they remained silent, instinctively knowing that any noise could bring death.
"Dada..." one of the cubs whimpered softly, pecking at his shirt.
"Stay quiet," Xing Luoye said, his voice cold but his hand gently patting the back of the harness. "I’ve got you. Nobody touches you."
He reached into his spatial space and pulled out a high tier teleportation scroll. His fingers trembled with a rare flash of panic as he crushed it.
Nothing.
The scroll did not glow. The space did not ripple. The energy simply fizzled out and died.
"Fucking hell!" Xing Luoye roared, his voice echoing through the desolate wasteland. "The space is completely locked! How is this possible? Even the Star Net is dead!"
He was a top tier Orc, a man who usually moved through the Interstellar Beast World like a god among men. But now, he was blind. He did not know where Yue Yue was, he did not know where the other three lunatics were, and he did not even know which planet he was currently standing on.
The disorientation was making his Villain Mode flare up. His eyes were turning a dark, dangerous crimson, and the urge to just level the entire forest around him was growing stronger with every passing second.
He began to trek along the strange path, his staff, which was an artifact of immense power, clanking against the ground with every step. He was looking for any sign of a stable portal or a communication tower, cursing every god he could think of.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of voices. Not the screeching of Zerg, but the chatter of humans.
"Look! Over there! There is someone alive!"
A group of about twelve people emerged from behind a cluster of giant, mutated mushrooms. At the front was a woman dressed in high end tactical gear that looked suspiciously clean for a disaster zone.
Her name was Lin Meili, a B rank noble daughter who had managed to gather a small protection squad of men to serve her.
Behind her stood several men, including a tall, muscular lion beastman named Zhao Feng and a quick looking scout named Sun Bo.
As they approached, Lin Meili’s eyes immediately locked onto Xing Luoye’s face. She froze, her breath catching in her throat. Even covered in dust and blood, Xing Luoye’s jade like features and regal aura were unlike anything she had ever seen.
He looked like a fallen immortal.
Her eyes flickered with greed and a sudden, predatory smile. She had already recruited five strong men into her team by promising them her favor and protection once they reached the Federation borders. Adding this silver haired beauty to her collection was a must.
"Oh, you poor thing!" Lin Meili called out, her voice dripping with fake sweetness. "Are you all alone out here? It is so dangerous. My name is Lin Meili, and I am leading this survival group. Why do you not join us? Together, we are much stronger."
Xing Luoye did not even stop walking. "Scram," he muttered, his eyes scanning the horizon for Zerg.
Lin Meili flinched, but her smile did not fade. She noticed the two small, feathered heads peeking out from his chest harness. Because the bodies were hidden, she only saw the small eagle like heads.
An Eagle Beastman? she thought. Perfect. If he can transform, he can carry me across these rocky plains. My feet are already covered in blisters.
"Do not be like that," she said, stepping directly into his path. "I see you have two eagle cubs with you. How hard it must be, protecting children all by yourself. If you join my team, Zhao Feng and the others can help you carry them. In return, you can help us scout from the air. It is a fair trade, do you not think?"
Zhao Feng stepped forward, puffing out his chest to show off his lion like mane. "Listen to the Lady, kid. You look like you have been through the ringer. We have food and water. Just follow her orders, and we might let you live."
Xing Luoye stopped. He slowly turned his gaze toward Lin Meili. The air around him suddenly dropped twenty degrees.
"You want me to join your team?" he asked, his voice dangerously low. "You want me to take orders from a brainless pig who cannot even clean the dirt off her own boots?"
Lin Meili’s face turned bright red. "What did you say? I am a noble of the Lin family! I am offering you a chance at life!" freёwebnovel.com
"I am looking for my wife," Xing Luoye said, his grip tightening on his staff. "I am in a very, very bad mood. If you do not move in the next three seconds, I will bury you in this pit."
"How dare you!" Zhao Feng roared, stepping between them. "How dare you speak to a female like that? In the Federation society, protecting females is the highest law! You are a rogue! A criminal! When we get back, I will make sure you go to jail for..."
BOOM!
Xing Luoye did not even use a spell. He simply slammed the staff into the ground. A shockwave of pure, golden energy erupted from the point of impact, tearing through the earth.
Lin Meili, Zhao Feng, and the entire group were sent flying backward like ragdolls. They hit the jagged rocks with thuds, groaning in pain.
Xing Luoye stepped forward, his eyes glowing with a terrifying light. He looked down at Zhao Feng, who was coughing up blood and trying to scramble away. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
"Jail?" Xing Luoye laughed, a mocking sound. "You cannot even find your way out of this damn place, yet you have the guts to threaten me with jail? Fucking hell, the world is ending and I still have to deal with clowns."
He walked over to Zhao Feng, grabbed him by the collar, and with a single flick of his wrist, tossed the massive lion beastman into a deep, dark crevasse nearby.
"AHHHHHH!" The man’s scream faded as he tumbled into the darkness.
"Anyone else?" Xing Luoye asked, looking at the rest of the group.
Lin Meili was trembling so hard her teeth were chattering. She realized then that this was not just an eagle beastman. This was a monster in human skin.
"Get out of my sight," Xing Luoye hissed. "Before I decide to use your heads as stepping stones."
The group did not need to be told twice. They scrambled up, ignoring their injuries, and ran in the opposite direction as fast as their legs could carry them, leaving their leader Lin Meili to stumble after them in tears.
Xing Luoye adjusted the harness holding his children. The twins were looking up at him, their little eyes full of awe.
"Dada strong," the little male Griffin said.
"Dada is pissed off," Xing Luoye corrected, his face darkening as he looked back at the purple sky. "Yue Yue... wait for me. I will kill every bug and every clown in this world until I find you."
He started walking again, his shadow stretching long and menacing across the ruined earth. He did not know where he was going, but he knew one thing: Heaven help anyone else who got in his way today.
