Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Beast Core Revelation

Lulu tried again to comfort her. "Young Miss, please relax. Master is willing to spend on you. You are his female. Everything you use will be natural."

But Yue Yue shook her head so quickly that her hair flew. "No no I cannot be shameless. How can I stay in his house, eat his food, and even squander his money? This is too much. Way too much."

Her gaze slowly drifted downward toward the packed lunch box she had prepared for him.

"...This is literally a 300 million star coin lunch box..." she whispered, her voice breaking into tiny pieces.

She wanted to cry. She wanted to return the rice to the pot. She wanted to wash the grains and put them back into the bag. She wanted to turn back time, slap her past self, and confiscate her own fingers so she would never dare click the order button.

Why did she not think carefully first? Why did she forget even for a second that this entire planet had been poisoned for centuries? Natural food was grown only in advanced laboratories that tried to recreate the lost human civilization. Reproducing the taste of nature cost a fortune.

No wonder these items were unbelievably expensive. No wonder Orcs preferred nutrient solutions. Those nutrient packs were cheap, fulfilling, and contained all necessary nutrients for their bodies.

A cheap nutrient solution cost around two thousand star coins. The fancier ones could go up to one hundred thousand. To Yue Yue, that was still outrageously expensive, but compared to real food, it was practically free.

And most importantly, people in the empire thought nutrient solutions were cheap. The economy was stable, the empire was wealthy, and even an F rank Orc could afford them easily.

But here she was... cooking billions worth of rice like it was a bowl of porridge.

She covered her face with both hands and let out a long, miserable groan.

Life in this world... was truly terrifying.

Just then...

DING!

A loud sound rang in her mind, so abrupt that she felt as if someone had struck her with a frying pan. She twitched, her shoulders jumping from shock.

"What now..." she muttered weakly. She was really in no condition to chat with this ridiculous system. Emotionally, financially, mentally, spiritually, she felt like someone had stabbed her straight through the heart.

But the glowing screen popped up anyway.

[New Side Quest Activated]

Yue Yue stared at it numbly, as if staring at a ghost. freёwebnoѵel.com

[Mission details: Purify B level polluted meat and grow one fruit plant]

[Goal: Win the favor of Villain]

[Rewards: plus two days life extension, Villain Mode minus two percent Han Soi, x10 premium apple seeds, x1 D grade knife]

For a full five seconds, Yue Yue did not move. She did not blink. She did not breathe. She simply stared.

Then she blinked once. Twice. Slowly she sat up straight with the stiffness of a puppet being pulled upright by strings.

"...Purify B level polluted meat?" she read aloud. "Grow a fruit tree?"

Her mind snapped awake instantly.

"What nonsense mission is this?" she screamed internally. "System, are you trying to scam me? I cannot do any of this! I do not even know how to purify anything! And grow a tree? Where do you want me to grow it? On my head? In my pocket? In a cup?"

Her voice got louder and louder inside her own mind.

"System... do not joke with me. How am I supposed to purify polluted meat? Do you want me to die in the attempt? Do you think I am some immortal goddess? And growing a fruit plant? Where? Where, system? Tell me!"

She threw her hands in the air dramatically.

Because almost every building in the empire was floating in the sky. Floating cities, floating towers, floating homes. She had not even seen the ground once... let alone any soil where she could grow something.

She kept ranting in her mind for a good half minute, pacing back and forth like a stressed hamster. But as always, the system ignored her emotional breakdown.

Another calm screen appeared.

[Host seems to have forgotten she has a Beast Core]

Yue Yue froze mid rant. She blinked. Yes... she had a beast core. But what did that have to do with purifying polluted meat and growing fruit? That made no sense to her at all.

The system continued as if reading her thoughts:

[Because of the Beast Core inside your body, Host possesses an inherent ability aside from spiritual power]

[Host ability: Purification]

[You can purify polluted meat, vegetables, fruits, and even grow pollution free plants and trees]

Yue Yue stared so hard at the screen that she felt her eyes drying up.

"...What?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.

The system continued calmly, completely unaffected by her shock.

[Host used to live in a world where only beastmen had beast cores, allowing them to transform into beasts. Females did not possess beast cores and could not awaken any power]

[However, Host is special. Host awakened a beast core on her eighteenth birthday]

[Then Host transmigrated]

Her mind trembled. Her breath hitched. Her heartbeat slowed for a moment and then suddenly sped up like it was racing in a marathon.

With every line the system revealed, her eyes widened more... and more... until she felt like her pupils might fall out of her face.

Beast core. Purification ability. Both words alone made her entire body tremble.

Back in her original world, beastmen possessed beast cores and used them to transform. They could roar storms into existence, leap impossible distances, tear trees out of the ground with one swipe.

But females were different. Females were delicate, powerless, without beast cores. They could not transform. They had no physical abilities beyond normal humans.

But then she happened.

She was the strange exception. The unbelievable miracle. The scandalous girl who awakened a beast core on her eighteenth birthday. She remembered it clearly now, the glowing blue light that appeared on her forehead like a tiny star. But before she could understand it, before she could test it, before she could even brag about it...

She transmigrated.

Thrown into this new world so suddenly that she never had the chance to explore her own ability.

And this world also followed similar rules. Females could not transform into beast forms at all. Only males could.

But in this world, power did not rely on beast cores. It relied on spiritual power. And female spiritual power could only soothe the spiritual sea of Orcs. They did not have any other ability.

But she... she was different. She had a beast core. And she had another power hidden inside her.

Purification.

Her vision blurred from excitement, shock, confusion, surprise, and disbelief all at once. Her expression shifted from horror to awe, then confusion to joy, then helplessness to excitement.

Finally, her face settled into a glowing expression of pure reverence.

Then she did the most natural thing possible in that moment.

She immediately wanted to kneel.

Not to a god. Not to some handsome beastman. Not even to Han Soi.

She wanted to kneel to the stupid, annoying, infuriating, life saving system hovering in front of her.

Her mind screamed one desperate prayer:

System, my dear system, please... I will kowtow right here, right now, on the spot. Just teach me. Teach me how to use my power.

Her hands trembled as she clasped them together, staring at the glowing notification as though it was the greatest treasure in all realms.

"System..." she breathed shakily, her eyes shining with determination, desperation, and hope all at once. "Please... please teach me everything. I will do every mission you assign me. I will never complain again."
