Chapter 274: Chapter 274: The Silly Male
Yue Yue stayed trapped inside the girl’s perspective, unable to pull away. The scene kept flowing like a dark river, pulling her deeper.
The girl crouched behind a half-collapsed wall, breathing hard. Blood still trickled from the cut on her forehead. Her rabbit ears twitched at every small sound.
After wondering for long, she finally realized she was not the only one who ended up with such useless abilities, but all the females are like her.
They had grown small beast traits...soft ears, tails, and faint markings on their skin, but none of them could transform fully into beast form. No one could shift like the males.
The females were stuck halfway, weak and incomplete. Most importantly, almost none of them awakened any real powers. No strength, no speed, no strange abilities to fight the polluted monsters.
They were just... there. Pretty decorations in a world that only cared about survival and killing.
The girl watched from her hiding spot as a group of male orcs fought nearby. Their bodies shifted partly into powerful beast forms, their claws slashing, muscles bulging with raw strength.
They roared and tore into a pack of polluted beasts, protecting their supplies. Some males still fought hard to save the females hiding behind them. They risked their lives again and again.
But others... others did not even glance at the females. When their own lives were uncertain, how could they worry about someone else? They simply walked away.
They left the females behind without a second thought, focused only on becoming stronger or finding their own safe path.
The girl’s hands shook with anger.
How could the world be so unfair?
It had given the males so much power to fight, will to survive, and bodies that could change and grow stronger.
But the girls? They received nothing but silly, useless traits. Fluffy ears that did nothing but twitch. Tails that got in the way. Soft features that made them look weak. No combat power and nothing to protect themselves.
She felt disgust rise in her chest.
Why were the females made so helpless? Why did the world laugh at them like this?
Fury burned inside her. Her rabbit ears flattened tight against her head. She wanted to scream at the gray sky, at the ruined buildings, at whatever cruel force had created this messed-up world. It felt wrong...deeply, painfully wrong.
Yet life continued.
Day after day, the girl moved through the destroyed empire like a shadow. She learned to hide better. She learned which ruins still had clean water and which puddles would burn her skin.
She scavenged for scraps of food while avoiding the bigger mutated beasts.
Sometimes she joined small groups of females who shared the same weak traits. They whispered together at night, sharing fear and tiny hopes. But mostly she stayed alone. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Every night she curled up in some dark corner, body aching from new bruises. Every morning she woke up surprised she was still breathing. The polluted world kept trying to kill her: monsters in the fog, falling ruins, hunger that gnawed at her stomach.
She got beaten down again and again. Once she almost died when a swarm of small polluted creatures surrounded her. She fought with bleeding hands and kicking feet until her rabbit ears were torn and bloody. She survived by pure stubborn will.
But the anger never left.
It grew quietly inside her, mixing with the fear and the cold determination in her clear eyes.
Yue Yue remained trapped in the girl’s perspective, feeling every beat of her cautious heart as the memories flowed on.
The ruined world was full of danger, but sometimes small groups of orcs fought together against the polluted beasts. The girl kept her distance from everyone. She trusted no one.
Trust could get you killed faster than a monster’s claws.
One gray afternoon, while she was hiding near an old broken bridge, she saw him.
A young man lay half-buried under fallen stones, badly injured. Blood soaked his side. A polluted beast was already circling closer, drawn by the smell.
The girl knew she should leave. She had no strength to waste on strangers.
Yet something made her move. She grabbed a sharp piece of metal, shouted loudly to distract the beast, and threw stones until the creature backed away. Then she dragged the man out of the rubble with all her weak strength and left him there, safe for the moment.
She turned to go.
But he did not stay behind.
Even though he was hurt and limping, the man quietly followed her. Like a lost puppy that had decided she was his only hope. No matter how many times she glared at him or quickened her steps, he stayed a few paces behind, silent and stubborn.
The girl finally stopped, ears twitching in irritation. She almost snarled, "Are you dumb? Go and get yourself killed somewhere else! I don’t have enough food to feed myself. How can I raise a silly man like you?"
The man said nothing. He just looked at her with quiet eyes and kept following.
She tried to abandon him many times. She slipped away in the dark, took hidden paths, and even ran when she could. Every single time, he appeared again behind her the next morning, a little more bruised but still there.
In the end, she gave up. She let him follow.
They traveled together without words at first. He helped carry heavy things when her arms grew tired. He stood guard while she slept. She shared tiny scraps of food when she found any.
Slowly, without noticing, their movements started to match. When a beast attacked, they fought side by side as if they had practiced for years. No talking needed.
They understood each other through small gestures and glances. They survived better together than most groups.
One quiet evening, after they had hidden in an old underground shelter, the girl finally spoke.
"What is your name?" she asked, her voice low.
The silly boy looked at her for a long moment, then answered softly, "My name is... I don’t remember much. But you can call me Xing."
The girl nodded. "Xing...it is a good name."
She paused, rabbit ears twitching with curiosity. "What kind of beastman are you? Don’t tell me you cannot transform at all." freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
Xing suddenly looked embarrassed. He lowered his head. "I... I can transform. But people always laugh at my beast form."
The girl’s expression immediately hardened. Her clear eyes flashed with anger.
"How could there be people like that? There are many who never even awakened their beast at all. What are you ashamed of? At least you awakened yours. Look at me..." She pointed at her own fluffy rabbit ears.
"I only have this useless pair of rabbit ears and nothing else. Do you think you are worse than me?"
Xing was stunned. A small, warm smile appeared in his eyes. He had finally found someone who did not detest his strange appearance.
He looked at her gently and asked, "What is your name?"
The girl grumbled under her breath, cheeks turning a little pink. She turned her face away for a second before muttering, "Li Ruoxi...Just call me Ruoxi."
