Chapter 272: Chapter 272: Scattered by Fate
Yue Yue’s eyes lit up the moment she saw Han Soi and Cang Yuze standing in the doorway. Her heart felt full again. After so many days of waiting, they were finally back.
She ran toward them without thinking. "You are here!"
Han Soi caught her gently in his arms. Cang Yuze stepped close and wrapped his arms around both of them. For a moment, the three of them stood together, warm and safe.
"You are safe." Han Soi said softly, patting her hair. "We came straight to you."
Cang Yuze smiled and pinched her cheek lightly. "We missed you."
Yue Yue felt happy tears prick her eyes. "I missed you too. So much."
They held each other for a long minute, the relief clear on everyone’s faces.
Then Yue Yue pulled back a little and said, "Let’s go meet Feng Yanshen and Xing Luoye. They are playing with the cubs in the main hall right now."
Han Soi and Cang Yuze nodded at once.
"Of course," Cang Yuze said. "Let’s go together."
The three of them started walking toward the main hall. Yue Yue walked between them, feeling light and warm. For the first time in weeks, almost all of them would be together again. The thought made her smile.
They had only taken a few steps when suddenly...
The ground shook hard.
A strong tremor ran through the entire palace.
The walls vibrated. The floor trembled beneath their feet.
Han Soi and Cang Yuze reacted instantly. They gripped Yue Yue’s body from both sides, pulling her tightly between them. Their arms became a protective shield around her.
"What is happening?" Han Soi asked, voice sharp. "How could there be an earthquake here?"
Cang Yuze’s expression darkened. His eyes scanned the corridor. "No. This is not an earthquake. It is something else."
The tremor grew stronger. Small cracks appeared on the walls. Pieces of the ceiling began to fall.
Han Soi’s grip tightened. "The shield is still up. If something attacked the palace or if there was a blast, the shield would have reacted. But it is still intact. So what is this?"
Cang Yuze’s face turned grim. "Something is very wrong."
Yue Yue’s heart started beating fast. She remembered Feng Yanshen’s sad eyes and his words from two days ago.
Something bad is going to happen.
Her breath caught. "No..."
The tremor became violent. The floor tilted. The beautiful high-tech walls of the Sea Palace started cracking loudly. Chunks of stone and metal fell around them. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"How is this possible?" Han Soi shouted. "The palace was built with the strongest materials. It should not fall from a simple quake!"
Cang Yuze’s eyes widened. "Take Yue and run! Get out of here!"
But Yue Yue’s mind was racing. She remembered Feng Yanshen’s vision. The separation. The searching. Everyone scattered.
Her eyes widened with terror. "Feng Yanshen! Xing Luoye! The cubs!"
She pulled away from their arms. "Let’s go to the main hall! Now!"
Han Soi and Cang Yuze did not argue. They followed her immediately, running behind her toward the main hall.
The corridor shook harder. The lights flickered wildly. The walls groaned like they were alive and in pain.
Yue Yue ran as fast as she could. Her heart pounded in her ears. She could hear the heavy footsteps of Han Soi and Cang Yuze right behind her. freёwebnoѵel.com
"Feng Yanshen!" she screamed. "Xing Luoye!"
She turned the corner. The main hall was just ahead.
For a split second, she saw them... Feng Yanshen is holding the cubs, Xing Luoye beside him. Their eyes met across the hall. They looked worried. They started running toward her too.
But then, the space in front of her distorted. It twisted like water.
The air rippled and folded in on itself.
Yue Yue screamed, "Feng Yanshen! Xing Luoye!"
They were only a few meters away. But the space between them stretched and warped like it was tearing apart.
The ground under her feet vanished.
Han Soi and Cang Yuze shouted her name.
Everything fell apart.
The palace, the hall, the very air...everything broke into pieces.
Yue Yue felt a strong pull. Her body was yanked sideways. The world spun violently.
She reached out desperately, trying to grab something, anything.
But there was nothing.
Only darkness and the sound of her own heartbeat thundering in her ears.
"Feng Yanshen!!"
"Han Soi!! Cang Yuze!!"
She screamed their names until her throat hurt, but her voice disappeared into the void.
Terror flooded her chest like ice water.
No. No. No.
This couldn’t be happening.
Not now.
Not when they had just come back.
Not when they were finally together again.
She saw flashes: Feng Yanshen’s face, the cubs crying, and Xing Luoye reaching for her.
Then they were gone. The space tore open. Yue Yue felt herself being thrown away. Her body spun helplessly in the darkness.
The last thing she heard was the sound of her own scream mixing with the terrified shouts of the men she loved.
Then everything went black.
When the world stopped spinning, Yue Yue was no longer in the palace.
She was somewhere else completely alone. The space had thrown everyone in different directions.
Yue did not know how long she remained in that state.
It felt as if her consciousness had been drifting in a vast, endless void, unable to grasp anything solid. Her mind was heavy, her body light, and even the sense of time seemed to have completely disappeared.
Slowly, very slowly, her awareness began to return.
A faint dizziness lingered in her head as if her entire being had just been torn apart and stitched back together. Her fingers twitched slightly, and her breathing became uneven, shallow at first, then gradually steadier.
With great effort, Yue Yue opened her eyes.
And froze. There was nothing but just darkness.
A complete, suffocating darkness that stretched endlessly in every direction, swallowing everything without leaving a trace.
For a moment, Yue Yue simply stood there, unable to react.
Her mind tried to process what she was seeing, but there was nothing to grasp onto. The more she stared, the more it felt like her vision was being devoured by the void itself.
"...Where am I?" she murmured softly.
Her voice sounded strange to her own ears...too faint, too hollow, as if even sound could not exist properly in this place. It simply disappeared the moment it left her lips.
