Chapter 254: Chapter 254: The Orb Has Cracked
Xing Luoye sighed softly. "I don’t know the exact reason yet. It could be because the current queen’s power has weakened. Or maybe something damaged the orb fragment. We will need to investigate properly. But right now, the most important thing is keeping you and the cubs safe."
He gently stroked the griffin cubs’ heads. The little ones had stopped crying completely thanks to his shield and were now blinking sleepily in Yue Yue’s arms.
Yue Yue remained silent for a while, thinking about everything Xing Luoye had told her. The peaceful family moment from earlier felt very far away now.
She remembered how happy she had been just minutes ago, introducing the babies to their fathers and telling them about the others who were not here yet.
Now, a dangerous, polluted zone was threatening the entire Sea Palace.
She looked up at Xing Luoye again. "What should we do? Han Soi went to check outside. Will he be okay?"
Xing Luoye gave her a reassuring smile, though his eyes still showed worry.
"Han Soi is strong. He will be careful. And I am staying right here with you and the children. The orange shield outside is the palace’s emergency protection. It should hold for now. But we need to find out why the purification level dropped so suddenly."
Yue Yue nodded slowly. She rocked the cubs gently and whispered soft words to them. "Don’t worry, my babies. Mama and your fathers will protect you. Everything will be alright."
Xing Luoye kept his arms around her, his gentle shield still surrounding the small family.
He looked out the window once more at the dark swirling energy in the distance and the bright orange barrier fighting against it.
"This should not have happened," he said quietly, almost to himself.
"The empires were built to be safe. The orb fragments were supposed to last for generations. If the Sea Empire’s fragment is failing, then the other empires might face the same problem soon."
Yue Yue’s heart felt heavy. She thought about Feng Yanshen and Cang Yuze, who had left earlier for other matters. She thought about Xing Luoguang too. Would they be safe? Would they come back in time?
Xing Luoye noticed her worried expression and pulled her a little closer.
"Hey, don’t think too much right now. The cubs need their mother to be calm. We will face this together. Han Soi will bring back information soon, and then we can decide what to do next."
Yue Yue took a deep breath and forced a small smile for the sake of her babies. "You are right. I need to stay strong for them."
The two griffin cubs chirped softly again, as if agreeing with her. Xiao Bai rubbed his head against her cheek, offering his own comfort.
Soon, the door opened again. Han Soi walked in with quick steps, his face serious and full of tension.
Right behind him came Cang Yuze. His expression was extremely pale, and deep worry was written all over his face. Both men looked exhausted and troubled.
The moment Xing Luoye saw their dull and heavy expressions, he immediately understood. He had been right. It really was a polluted zone that had appeared.
And from the way they looked, it was no ordinary polluted zone. It must be a high-level one to make two such powerful men react like this.
Han Soi walked straight to the bed and looked at Yue Yue with concerned eyes. Before he could speak, Cang Yuze stepped forward quickly.
"Yue," Cang Yuze said, his voice tight. "The place is no longer safe here. I think you should follow Feng Yanshen back to the temple. You cannot go to the Land Empire after all...it is already in chaos. So the only safe option left is the temple. It is the safest place in the entire world right now."
Yue Yue was stunned. She stared at him with wide eyes. "But why suddenly such a decision? What exactly happened?"
Cang Yuze took a deep breath, trying to keep his voice steady. "An SSS rank polluted zone has appeared just a few miles away at the outskirts of the Sea Palace. It is rapidly increasing and trying to swallow the entire Sea Palace. I don’t know what caused it, but it is really powerful."
Yue Yue’s heart sank. She asked quickly, "But how did it actually appear so close to the citizens? Is the orb no longer working?"
Cang Yuze’s expression became even paler. He hesitated for a second before answering. "There is actually a crack in the orb. It is the first time something like this has happened."
Han Soi’s eyes widened in shock. Xing Luoye’s eyes also widened as both men looked at Cang Yuze.
"How could it be possible?" Han Soi asked, his voice filled with disbelief.
"How could there be a crack? It was almost impossible. Even if someone tried to destroy the orb, it is so powerful that it would blast them away. It was impossible for there to be a crack in the orb."
Xing Luoye nodded quickly, equally shocked. "Yes, how could it be possible?" frёewebηovel.cѳm
Yue Yue’s eyes widened too. "What happened? So there is really no way to fix it at first? And what about you?"
Cang Yuze gave her a painful smile. He reached out and gently took her hands in his. "I will stay here to protect my people."
Before Yue Yue could react, he lifted her hand and kissed the back of it softly. "Yue, just wait for me. I will come back to pick you up again. Take care, okay? Soon it will be over. I will come back."
Yue Yue’s eyes widened in alarm. "You are staying here?"
Cang Yuze nodded with the same painful expression. "Yes."
Yue Yue immediately felt a rush of panic. She really did not want to leave him here.
How could he stay behind alone without her?
And could he really fight against an SSS rank polluted zone?
She had already heard how difficult even an S rank polluted zone was to handle. An SSS rank one appearing so suddenly and so close to the citizens was awful.
She knew that an SSS rank polluted zone was a hundred times more powerful than an SSS rank orc.
The polluted beasts inside it would have evolved to terrifying levels and would be extremely thirsty for energy and life. She grew very worried about him.
"Did you go inside and checked it?" she asked, her voice shaking slightly. "Is it really an SSS rank polluted zone?"
Cang Yuze nodded. "Yes, I have confirmed it myself."
Suddenly, a loud voice shouted from outside the room. "Prince Yuze! Something happened!"
