Chapter 246: Chapter 246: A Replacement Has Arrived
Far away from the Sea Empire, in another vast and powerful territory, a quiet room stood at the highest level of a towering structure.
The room was breathtaking.
It carried a soft blend of elegance and futuristic design, as if technology and luxury had been perfectly mixed together.
Smooth, silver walls shimmered faintly under the warm ambient lights. Transparent panels stretched from floor to ceiling, revealing a distant view of stars drifting slowly across the dark sky.
Floating ornaments moved gently in the air, glowing softly like living lights. A thin stream of water flowed along one side of the room, suspended midair in a controlled arc, reflecting the golden glow of the ceiling.
Even the furniture looked refined and otherworldly, sleek, curved surfaces, soft cushions that adjusted automatically, and a faint hum of energy that made everything feel alive.
This was the true face of an interstellar beast empire.
And despite its name, the Sand Empire was no less magnificent than any other. Beneath the illusion of endless dunes, it held cities just as grand, just as advanced.
In the center of the room, a woman sat quietly.
Her figure was graceful, her long hair falling over her shoulders like silk. Her expression, however, was distant. Her eyes were unfocused, as if her mind had drifted far away from her surroundings.
She did not move, neither did she speak. It was as if time itself had slowed around her.
In front of her, a small floating beast hovered in the air, spinning lazily. It made soft, cheerful sounds, trying its best to entertain her, but she paid it no attention.
Her thoughts were elsewhere.
Then suddenly...
A cold, mechanical voice echoed inside her mind.
"Host, the fake female has successfully given birth to the cubs of your second male... Xing Luoye."
The woman’s pupils shrank. For a split second, the entire room seemed to freeze.
Then...
Crash!
She suddenly raised her hand and threw the nearest object in front of her.
The item shot forward and struck the small floating beast with a sharp sound, sending it wobbling in the air.
"Ikkk."
The cheerful noise instantly stopped. The room fell into silence.
Her expression was no longer calm. A dark emotion flashed through her eyes.
"The cubs..." she muttered softly, her voice low and cold. Her fingers slowly clenched.
"That woman... actually gave birth."
Her chest rose and fell in quick, uneven motions, each breath heavier than the last, as though the very air around her had thickened into something suffocating.
It pressed against her lungs, making it harder to inhale, harder to think, harder to stay still.
"No... no..." The words slipped past her lips in a strained whisper as her fingers curled tightly into the fabric of her dress, gripping it as though it were the only thing anchoring her to reality.
Her hands trembled uncontrollably, betraying the storm building inside her, the rising tide of anger and confusion that refused to settle.
"How is this possible...?" Her voice cracked, the question barely contained before it grew louder, breaking through the fragile restraint she had left.
"How could someone just arrive here... and everything changes?!"
Her gaze hardened, turning cold and sharp, something almost feral flickering in her eyes as she stared ahead, seeing not the room before her but the reality that had been torn away from her grasp.
"You, System!" she snapped inwardly, her voice echoing violently within her mind, filled with accusation and fury.
"What the hell are you doing?! Why did not you stop it?!" Her breathing only grew more chaotic, her chest tightening as if her own body was rebelling against the unbearable reality.
"If she gives birth to all of their cubs... then what about me? What happens to me?!" The words trembled as they left her.
"No... no... I will not allow it." Her nails dug harshly into her palms.
"They are mine."
"They were always mine."
She pushed herself to her feet abruptly, her movements unsteady and almost reckless, as though her body might give out beneath her at any moment, but she refused to let it.
Refused to appear weak, even now.
"How could she just appear out of nowhere... and destroy everything I built?!"
"Did not you say I was the leading female?! Did not you say this world revolves around me?!"
"Then why?!" Her breath hitched painfully, her chest tightening as memories flooded her mind without mercy, the way those men used to look at her, the way their attention lingered, how they stayed close, drawn to her as if by instinct, as if she were the center of their world.
They had circled around her, sought her out, belonged to her in every way that mattered.
But now... everything had shifted. Her expression twisted into a scowl. "This time... they did not even look at me..."
"They did not even glance at me..." Instead, the image burned itself into her mind with unbearable clarity...
"They were all around her." Her hands shook violently, the loss of control now impossible to hide as her thoughts spiraled further.
"That nameless woman... who just popped up from nowhere..." Her teeth clenched tightly.
"How could she steal my men?!"
"System!"
"Answer me!" frёeωebɳovel.com
The room fell into a suffocating silence after her outburst. For a long moment, there was no reply.
The system stayed quiet as if it was watching her.
Lin En’s chest was still rising and falling rapidly, her fingers trembling, her eyes burning with fury.
"Say something..." she whispered, her voice dangerously low.
Another second passed. Then finally...
The cold, mechanical voice echoed in her mind again.
"Host..." It paused slightly.
"I do not know who brought her here."
Lin En’s eyes narrowed.
"But," the system continued slowly, its tone turning darker, "her existence is definitely meant to oppose you."
Lin En froze. "What... do you mean?" she asked, her voice tight.
The system did not answer immediately.
Instead, it spoke in a calm, almost indifferent tone. "In your past life... because of your careless mistakes..."
Lin En’s pupils shrank as she remembered her past life. "This world... was destroyed." Her breath stopped. "...by those five men."
"This time," the system continued, almost lazily, "that outcome will not be allowed to repeat."
Lin En’s fingers slowly curled into fists.
Her voice dropped to a whisper.
"...So?"
"So," the system said, its tone turning faintly cold and almost amused, "they brought her here."
Lin En’s expression went completely blank. For a moment, she did not move. Then, very slowly, her lips parted.
"...That means..." Her voice was hollow.
"You are telling me..."
Her eyes darkened, a terrifying calm settling over her face.
"They took my position..."
A faint tremor ran through her body.
"The position of the female lead..." Her nails dug into her palms again. "And gave it..." Her voice turned sharp, filled with hatred.
"To some nameless woman... from an unknown world?"
The system waited for her to finish before finally speaking in a mocking tone, "Yes."
