Chapter 238: Chapter 238: Xing Luoguang’s Longing

Xing Luoye blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in tone and words.

Before he could respond, Xing Luoguang continued, his voice remaining even and unwavering.

"It has already been more than seven days. She should be waiting for you." His gaze softened just slightly, a faint trace of warmth appearing in his otherwise composed expression.

"Soon... your child will come into this world." He paused briefly before adding, "You have to be there."

The words were simple, spoken without emphasis or dramatics, yet they carried a weight that settled deeply within Xing Luoye’s chest.

He looked at his brother for a second, processing what had just been said, before slowly nodding. "...Mm."

But just as he did, something felt wrong.

A strange uneasiness crept into his chest, subtle at first but quickly growing stronger, like an instinct warning him of something he could not yet understand.

Before he could grasp what it was, Xing Luoguang suddenly stood up.

Right there, at the very edge of the rooftop.

The wind immediately grew stronger around him, rushing past as if drawn to his presence.

His figure stood tall against the vast darkness, his clothes fluttering slightly in the cold night air. Then he turned back, looking at Xing Luoye once more.

With the same smilling and gentle face.

And in that instant, Xing Luoye’s heart dropped.

"Luoguang—"

He stood up abruptly, alarm surging through him, but before he could reach him, Xing Luoguang spoke again.

"I have something to do."

Xing Luoye froze for only a split second before stepping forward quickly, panic rising within him.

"What do you mean?" he called out, his voice filled with urgency. "Aren’t you coming back with me?" His words came faster now, louder, almost desperate.

"She misses you too! She’s been worried about you!"

But it was already too late.

Before his words could even reach Xing Luoguang, he had taken a step forward and jumped.

Straight down from the tallest building.

"Luoguang—!"

Xing Luoye rushed forward instantly, his hand shooting out in an attempt to grab him, but he caught nothing.

Far below, there was nothing but darkness. It was as if he had completely disappeared into the night itself.

Then, faintly, a voice rose from below.

"I will see."

It echoed lightly, distant and unclear, as though carried by the wind, uncertain and fleeting.

And then, Xing Luoguang was gone.

Xing Luoye stood there, completely stunned, his hand still stretched out into the emptiness where his brother had been just moments ago.

Slowly, almost mechanically, it fell back to his side. His mind went blank, unable to process what had just happened.

What did that mean?

Was he coming back... or not?

What was he supposed to say to Yue Yue?

How was he supposed to explain this?

His chest tightened painfully as questions began to flood his thoughts, one after another, each one heavier than the last.

Then another thought struck him.

"...No way..." he whispered, his voice barely audible.

His brother... He wasn’t sacrificing his feelings because of him... right?

But that didn’t make sense.

They were already married.

He and Yue... they had already become partners. They had already sealed their bond in front of the sacred temple. Everything that could have been decided had already been decided.

Then what...

What was he trying to do?

Xing Luoye’s hand rose to his head, fingers gripping his hair slightly as frustration and confusion crashed into him all at once.

"Why is everything so complicated..." he muttered in a low and strained voice.

On the other hand, Xing Luoguang had already left.

His figure cut through the dark sky at a terrifying speed, the wind roaring violently past him as the city below rapidly disappeared from sight, shrinking into nothingness within moments.

The silent empire, the rooftop, and even his brother were left far behind as he moved across the vast expanse, heading toward a place hidden from ordinary sight.

In no time, he reached a completely different space.

Ahead of him, a small fleet floated in the darkness.

The ships hovered silently, their presence concealed within the shadows as though they were never meant to be seen.

Without slowing down even slightly, Xing Luoguang moved forward and entered one of the ships alone. The hatch closed behind him with a dull, final sound, sealing him inside and cutting off everything from the outside world.

Silence filled the space once again.

Only the faint, steady hum of the ship lingered in the background.

He walked forward calmly, his steps unhurried, as if nothing had changed. Taking his seat, his fingers moved across the controls. The system lit up instantly in response, casting a dim glow across the interior.

And then, the ship disappeared.

Vanishing completely from the land empire, leaving behind no trace of its existence.

Inside, Xing Luoguang leaned back slightly, his gaze lowering as the dim light reflected faintly in his eyes.

For a brief moment, the calm expression on his face cracked, the composure he had maintained for so long finally wavering. His heart churned, emotions rising that he had deliberately kept buried.

His brother’s face flashed in his mind.

That look, which was confused, shocked, and almost hurt. His fingers tightened faintly against the armrest.

"...Sorry, brother."

His voice was low, barely audible, as if even speaking those words required effort.

But he knew he could not tell him.

He could not explain anything. Because the danger was not gone. It had never been gone.

They were never truly free.

It was still there, lingering in the shadows, watching, waiting patiently for the right moment.

And most importantly...

It was aimed at Yue Yue.

His eyes darkened slightly as that thought settled deeply within him.

"I have to protect her..."

He slowly closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the chair, letting the weight of those decisions sink in.

Almost immediately, Yue’s face appeared in his mind...soft, beautiful, and gentle, just as he remembered. freewebnøvel.com

A faint, unconscious smile formed on his lips, betraying the emotions he tried so hard to suppress.

His fingers twitched slightly, as though reaching out for something that was no longer there... wanting to touch her, to pull her into his arms, to feel her presence once more.

He wanted to see her.

Just once.

To hear her voice.

To hear her say...

That she loved him too.

His chest tightened as a deep ache spread within him, quiet yet overwhelming.

"...Yue Yue..."

Her name left his lips in a near whisper, fragile and filled with longing.
