Chapter 189: Chapter 189: My Husband Is the Last Griffin Heir

Xing Luoguang saw her pale expression and her trembling lips. He thought she was simply overwhelmed by the weight of the sacred ritual and the truth of his heritage.

He stood up smoothly and pulled her back into a protective hug, tucking her head under his chin.

"Don’t worry, my dearest Yue Yue," he whispered, his voice a soothing rumble.

"Everything will be fine. Now that our souls are bound, no one...not the Empire, not the Phoenix clan can truly separate us. We are one."

Yue Yue leaned into him, but her mind was in total chaos. Suddenly, a familiar, cold electronic sound rang out in her head.

[Ding! Congratulations, Host!]

[Side Quest Completed: Discover the Lost Mysterious Race and its Origin.]

[Rewards are being processed and will be issued shortly...]

Yue Yue was stunned. The system notification confirmed it. This wasn’t a dream, and it wasn’t a mistake. The mysterious race she had been living with was actually the legendary Griffin race, the true heirs of the world.

A strange fear began to grow in her heart. If the empire was hunting them, it wasn’t just because they were "different." It was because their very existence challenged the entire foundation of the beast world’s power.

She didn’t even acknowledge the system rewards. She just clung to Xing Luoguang, feeling the silvery scar on her wrist tingle.

They were bound now, but she realized that the secret they carried was heavy enough to crush them both.

Xing Luoguang flew her back to the palace under the cover of the deep night. He took her directly to his private chambers, bypassing the main halls to ensure they weren’t seen.

Yue Yue was still troubled. Her mind was spinning with the word Griffin and the ancient history she had just learned. She asked him a dozen questions at once, her voice small and shaky.

"Is it true? Are there others? Will the Empire kill you if they find out?"

Xing Luoguang stopped her by gently placing a finger over her lips. He coaxed her with a soft smile, his eyes filled with a calm confidence.

"No one knows about our true race, Yue Yue. To the world, we are just ’monsters’ or ’mutants.’ We have stayed hidden for a reason. I will be fine, and you will be fine. You don’t have to worry about a thing."

He led her into the bedroom and helped her change into a set of comfortable silk robes. To lighten the heavy mood, he began to tease her, his eyes sparking with a playful light.

"Why so serious, my little bride?" he whispered, nipping at her earlobe. "This is our first night as a wedded couple. You should be thinking of me, not ancient history."

Yue Yue couldn’t help it; a small smile broke through her worry. She felt her face heat up and a deep blush spread across her cheeks.

For a moment, the fear of the Empire and the mystery of the Griffins faded into the background.

Xing Luoguang laughed softly at her reaction before heading into the bathing area. Yue Yue sat on the edge of the massive, soft bed, her heart still fluttering. She could hear the sound of splashing water from behind the screen.

Suddenly, a loud, frantic pounding echoed from the heavy chamber doors.

"Prince Luoguang! Prince Luoye is searching for you! It is urgent!" a voice shouted from the hallway.

Yue Yue jumped, her nerves snapping back to attention. The door to the bath opened, and Xing Luoguang stepped out. He hadn’t even dressed; he only had a white towel wrapped loosely around his waist. His muscular chest was bare, and water droplets were still dripping from his damp hair, sliding down his skin.

"Someone is looking for you," Yue Yue stammered, looking away from his naked torso. "They said it’s your brother."

Xing Luoguang’s brow furrowed. He didn’t seem bothered by his lack of clothes at all. He strode across the room and opened the door just a crack. He had a short, low-voiced conversation with the guard outside while Yue Yue waited anxiously on the bed.

When he closed the door and turned back, his expression was serious, but he forced a smile for her.

"I have to go for a moment," he said. "Luoye needs me for a strategy meeting. I will be back shortly."

He walked over and kissed her cheek, his skin still smelling of fresh water and soap.

"Until then, my bride can explore the room or just sleep in this big bed all by herself. Don’t wait up if you’re tired."

He let out a short laugh, pulled on his pants, and grabbed a shirt before disappearing out the door. freewebnovel.cσ๓

Left alone in the silent, massive room, Yue Yue looked around. This was now her home, but the empty space beside her felt cold.

Yue Yue was not fully asleep, but her eyes were heavy. She lay on the massive bed, tossing and turning as she waited for Xing Luoguang.

The room was silent, and the time was already inching toward midnight. Just as she shifted to the other side, she heard the soft click of the door opening once more.

The mattress dipped behind her as a heavy weight settled on the bed.

Before she could turn around, a warm, powerful hand slid around her waist and pulled her firmly against a broad, solid chest.

A shy smile touched her lips. "Luoguang? Are you back?" she whispered into the darkness.

"Hmmm."

The man behind her hummed a deep, vibrating response.

He leaned in, his breath hot against her skin, and began to kiss her earlobe tenderly. He brushed her long pastel hair away from her neck, his lips trailing fire along her skin.

"Luoguang..."

Yue Yue giggled softly, feeling the intensity of his touch. "You’re so impatient," she teased.

"Were you not impatient too?" He replied, his voice dropping into a dangerously deep tone, making Yue Yue’s toes curl.

Why did his voice feel that he was intoxicated?
