Chapter 180: Chapter 180: You Better Stay Away From That Female
Xing Luoye stepped closer, his shadow looming over the boy. "How did you even find this place?" he demanded, his voice trembling with fury and fear. "No one discovers Dune City by accident."
The boy threw his head back and laughed like a maniac.
The sound echoed off the cold walls of the holding area. "You think you’re so well-hidden? You think your little sand curtains can keep the world out forever?"
Xing Luoye’s eyes turned murderous. "You are not leaving this place alive. Do you really think a single person...a pretty little pup like you can snatch her away from us and walk out unscathed?"
He raised his fist again, his mind spiraling into paranoia.
If this boy had found them, did that mean the Empire’s ships were already on their way?
The thought of his people being massacred because their location was leaked made him lose all control. He began to strike the boy again, his blows landing with desperate, frantic force.
"Brother, stop!" Xing Luoguang shouted. He rushed forward and grabbed Luoye’s arms, physically pulling him back. "Hitting him won’t solve anything! We need answers, not a bloodied corpse."
Xing Luoye was breathing hard, his eyes bloodshot. "He knows, Luoguang! If he knows, they all know!"
"We don’t know that yet," Luoguang hissed, trying to calm him down. "We have to check his identity. What if he is lying? What if this is just a trick to make us panic?"
Luoguang turned to the warriors standing nearby. "Take him to the interrogation room. Lock him down and make sure he stays unconscious. I don’t want him awake until we are ready to deal with him."
The warriors moved in immediately. The young boy didn’t even try to resist as they grabbed his arms.
Just before the orc warriors dragged him away, his gaze met Xing Luoguang’s one last time. Even with blood on his face, he offered a slow, mocking smile as if he had already won.
One of the warriors stepped forward and injected a clear liquid into the boy’s neck. Within seconds, his head drifted down, his eyes rolled back, and his body went limp.
Xing Luoguang watched them haul the boy away, but the heavy weight in his stomach didn’t disappear. He turned to his brother, who was still shaking with rage.
"We need to go back," Luoguang said firmly. "We need to check the perimeter sensors, and most importantly... we need to see Yue Yue. If he really is her brother, we have to know if she’s been in contact with anyone."
Xing Luoye wiped the blood off his knuckles, his expression darkening. "If she led him here, Luoguang... if she betrayed us... I won’t be as kind as you."
Xing Luoguang’s face turned pale at his brother’s words.
"How could that be possible, Brother?" he said, his voice trembling. "She has no way to contact the outside world. And why would she do that? Even though we brought her here against her will, we have never treated her badly. She wouldn’t betray us... she wouldn’t."
He spoke almost pleadingly, but he wasn’t sure if he was trying to convince Luoye or quiet the sudden doubt in his own heart.
Xing Luoye didn’t look at him. His eyes remained cold and fixed on the path ahead.
"You are too soft," he warned. "You better stay away from that scheming female until we know the truth."
"Brother, she is not scheming!" Luoguang exclaimed, but Luoye didn’t stop. He walked away, leaving Luoguang standing alone in the cold night air. Luoguang’s fists clenched at his sides. He couldn’t believe Yue Yue was involved in this, but the boy’s face kept flashing in his mind. freeweɓnovel.cøm
Back at the patrol cabin, Yue Yue was still waiting. She kept looking at the door, expecting Luoguang to return so they could go back to the palace as promised.
Instead, the door opened and a young orc warrior stepped inside. He scratched his head awkwardly, looking everywhere but at her.
"The Princes are busy with a sudden matter," the warrior said. "They have ordered me to escort you back to the palace immediately."
Yue Yue froze. "What happened? Is someone hurt?"
The tall warrior didn’t reply. He only motioned toward the door, indicating that she should get into the hover car. His silent, serious expression made Yue Yue’s stomach flip with nerves. Something was wrong.
The night grew deeper. Back at the palace, Yue Yue couldn’t go to her own room. She felt a strange pull toward Luoguang’s chambers, hoping he would return there first. She sat on the edge of his large bed, watching the door.
Hours passed. The silence of the palace felt heavy. Eventually, exhaustion from the day’s terror and the emotional rollercoaster of the kiss caught up to her.
She curled up in an awkward position at the very corner of the bed, her head resting on her arm, and fell into a deep, restless sleep.
It was nearly dawn when the door finally opened.
Xing Luoguang walked in, his shoulders slumped with exhaustion. His mind was a mess of interrogation tactics and the boy’s mocking laughter.
But when he saw the small figure huddled on his bed, his heart ached.
He was surprised she had come to his room to wait for him.
All the suspicion his brother had planted seemed to melt away just by looking at her peaceful, tired face.
He moved silently, as if walking on air.
He gently slid his arms under her and lifted her, moving her from the uncomfortable corner to the center of the soft mattress. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
As he tucked her in, she stirred slightly and leaned into his warmth, a small sigh escaping her lips.
Unable to stay away, Luoguang lay down beside her. He pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head.
In the quiet darkness of the early morning, he finally allowed himself to close his eyes and fall asleep, holding her as if he were afraid she might disappear by sunrise.
