Chapter 170: Chapter 170: The Price of Falling in Love
After leaving Yue Yue in front of her room, Xing Luoguang did not move for a few seconds.
He stood there quietly, staring at the closed door as if he could still feel her presence behind it.
Her soft voice... her stubborn face... the way she refused to look at him properly.
A faint smile appeared on his lips, but it quickly faded.
He turned around and began walking toward his own room.
The corridor was long and silent. His footsteps echoed lightly. But the closer he got to his room, the slower his steps became.
He could feel it. There was another presence in his room. He stopped in front of the door and sighed deeply.
"Sigh..."
He rubbed his forehead and muttered to himself, "Of course... it’s him." There was only one person who would wait inside his room without permission.
Xing Luoye.
Xing Luoguang pushed the door open and entered.
Inside, leaning casually against the bed, was Xing Luoye. One leg crossed over the other, arms folded, calm and relaxed as if this was his own room.
"Brother! You did not go to training?" Xing Luoguang asked, trying to sound normal.
Xing Luoye slowly lifted his face. His eyes were calm and sharp, but his lips carried that familiar lazy smile.
"It seems," Xing Luoye said lightly, "that brother has forgotten about me after finding the female he likes."
He stood up and walked closer, his tone teasing but his gaze observant.
Xing Luoguang stiffened immediately. His back straightened.
"What nonsense are you saying?" he replied quickly. "There is nothing like that. No one comes between us."
He took a step forward.
"My liking toward a female is one thing. The bond between us is another thing. They are separate."
His voice grew more serious.
"Why would I not give you attention?"
Even as he spoke confidently, a small guilt was hidden inside his heart.
He knew it. The number of times he met his brother had decreased.
While he was roaming around Yue Yue, trying to get her attention, trying to understand her... Xing Luoye had been busy planning strategies, dealing with the empires, calculating every step carefully.
Looking at Xing Luoguang’s serious expression, Xing Luoye suddenly laughed loudly.
"Hahaha!"
"Oh, brother!" he said, holding his stomach. "Do not look so tense. I was just joking."
He walked back to the table and picked up a golden fruit that was placed there. He took a bite casually.
"So," he continued with a playful tone, "how is the progress? Did you win the heart of that spoiled female?"
Xing Luoguang was stunned.
"Brother!" he scolded softly, his face turning suspiciously red. He quickly turned his head away.
Xing Luoye narrowed his eyes slightly.
Interesting.
It seemed his usually cold and strict brother was truly serious about this female.
"So..." Xing Luoguang hesitated before asking carefully, "you agree with me liking her... right?"
There was a small tension in his voice. This question had been bothering him for many days.
In the corner of his heart, he was afraid. Afraid that his relationship with Yue Yue might create distance between him and his brother. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Xing Luoye snorted.
"Hmph! Of course," he replied casually. "If not, do you think I would have allowed you to stalk her day and night?"
He smirked.
"The first thing I would have done is bundle that female up and throw her into some faraway star."
Xing Luoguang rolled his eyes. "Do not forget she is still a female," he reminded him seriously.
But hearing his brother speak like this, his heart felt lighter.
The heavy burden that had been pressing on him for days slowly disappeared.
It would be a lie to say this was not one of the main reasons he had not made any clear move toward Yue Yue.
Part of him did not want to hurt his brother. He did not want anything to change between them.
Yet at the same time...
He could not stop thinking about Yue Yue. Her stubbornness. Her bright eyes and her soft voice when she got angry.
For so many days, he had been in constant conflict.
Between love... and brotherhood.
Between desire... and responsibility.
Seeing his complicated expression, Xing Luoye’s playful smile slowly faded.
"So," he said calmly, "when are you going to marry her?"
Xing Luoguang froze.
"Marry?"
"Yes," Xing Luoye continued. "Do not think too much. The empires have been restless lately. We cannot predict what they will do next."
His gaze hardened slightly.
Outside, several powerful empires were creating chaos, searching everywhere. Searching for their precious female, who had suddenly disappeared and who knows where she was. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"We might have to leave this place soon," Xing Luoye said quietly. "And we cannot take her with us."
Xing Luoguang’s expression darkened. He knew this was true. Their mission was not complete.
Kidnapping Yue Yue had been part of their plan from the beginning.
They wanted to weaken the empire before striking them in a way that they could never recover from.
But in the process, who had thought that something like this would happen...
His brother would fall in love with that same female?
Xing Luoye’s lips curved into a faint smirk.
He remembered the recent news from outside. Everything was under control for now.
They were safe here. But they could not hide forever. Both of them would soon have to leave to settle things outside.
Fate was truly strange.
What started as a plan had turned into something unpredictable.
But who was he to stop it?
Maybe everything had its own destiny.
Maybe Yue Yue was meant to enter their lives.
Xing Luoye walked toward his brother and patted his shoulder firmly.
"What are you waiting for?" he asked with a teasing smile returning to his face.
"I am still waiting to hold your child."
Xing Luoguang’s ears turned red instantly.
"Brother!"
Xing Luoye winked at him.
In the next second, Xing Luoye vanished, leaving silence behind.
Xing Luoguang stood alone, heart pounding.
Marry her... leave soon... cannot take her... His fists tightened.
If danger was coming, he had to choose before everything fell into chaos, and maybe after knowing his identity she would never accept him.
After all, who does not hate them from the empires?
If he could accept her despite her being from the empire, then why would she not be able to accept him?
He refused to believe that the moment she learned his true identity, her eyes would change when she looked at him.
And if that day truly came... if her feelings wavered because of who he was...
Then perhaps they were never meant to stand side by side.
But more than that, the question that weighed on his heart was this...Would he truly have the strength to let her go?
